I had high hopes for this trip - and it was just wonderful.
We stayed at The Old Swan Hotel, Harrogate - where Agatha Christie stayed for 11 days after finding out about her husbands adultery. Incredible to be in not simply the hotel, but the stunning Ball Room (now the restaurant) where presumably the Band member spotted her whilst playing one evening.
Harrogate itself generally retained more of it's original Spa Town feel and architecture than we anticipated - just beautiful, and plenty to do and see. We topped our wonderful visit off with a trip to the gorgeous old theatre for a spot of Sherlock Holmes on stage.
Finally we took a short drive to the James Herriot Museum which was a surprisingly interesting experience. Very well done, creative and engaging.
Overall a really wonderful few days, and would highly recommend Our World is A Book who put it together for us, and met our needs perfectly.
