Really changed my life, the process and surgery was very smooth and quick! I 100% recommend

One day post op and I can see perfectly! Everyone at Optilase were so helpful and reassuring. There is nothing to be worried about! It was the slightest bit uncomfortable but it only lasted a few seconds and a lovely nurse was there to count the seconds down. I’m amazed at the results!!

Had my LASIK procedure done this year at Optilase Belfast and honestly couldn’t recommend them more. From start to finish the whole experience was brilliant. Macy discharged me after my surgery and she was absolutely lovely, she went through all my drops in detail, made sure I understood everything, and patiently answered every single one of my (many!) questions.
The surgery team were fantastic too. Dawn, my technician, kept me calm the whole way through, and Dr Damani was incredible, genuinely can’t fault him. The procedure itself was so quick and my vision is literally perfect now.
If anyone is nervous or having doubts, the pain was honestly minimal during healing. The most uncomfortable part was sleeping with the protective mask afterwards, and even that was manageable.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the scheduling and communication regarding my ongoing treatment following my IOL lens replacement surgery in April 2025.

While the initial surgery and consultation went well, my experience over the past year has been disappointing due to significant delays and administrative issues. After developing Posterior Capsule Opacification (PCO) and undergoing two YAG laser treatments, my reading vision remained poor. The subsequent process to address this has been fraught with complications:

- Trial Lens Delays: I experienced two cancelled appointments because a trial contact lens took six weeks to arrive.
- Scheduling Conflicts: After a consultation confirmed that Lasik is required to correct remaining astigmatism, I scheduled a weekend morning appointment to accommodate my 200km round-trip journey from Louth. However, four days before the procedure, I was asked to move this to a Friday afternoon during peak traffic. The alternative offered—Saturday at 11:30 AM with a projected 2-3 hour wait—is equally unsuitable given the travel distance and the impact on those accompanying me.

I feel that because this corrective procedure does not generate new revenue, my care has become a low priority. This process has taken six months longer than necessary, and as a result, I no longer feel comfortable recommending Optilase to others.

On a positive note, I want to commend the staff at the Carrickmines and South William Street clinics; they are professional and helpful. The issue lies within Optilase’s internal systems and communication.

I hope you can address these concerns and provide a more reliable and considerate approach to customers in the future.

Whilst this organisation has a a high standard of optometrists and surgeons, their quality of service is abysmal. I have had appointment times changes without notice, conflicting advice given, missing consent forms, and have been left ignored for the request of non-prescription eyedrops. Furthermore, any calls or emails I have made about this have been left ignored.

They have made the process of laser eye surgery so beyond stressful, I cannot recommend it to anyone I know. If you are nervous about this procedure and require attentive care, avoid this place at all costs.

From beginning to end , my experience with the entire optilase team from front facing staff to the nurses , receptionists , optometrists and surgeons have been FIRST CLASS !!! They made my journey and post op journey seamless !!! Life changing - 20/20 vision ! Quick and painless ! Highly recommend these guys ! Shout out to Claire and Jordan on South William Street amongst countless others !!

The experience was great. The staff were genuinely nice and made you feel welcomed. Any questions answered with no hesitation.

While getting the surgery done they were talking away to you as if it was just another day - for you of course it isn’t, for them it is but they made you feel like it was just another day.

Great, best decision I made was having lasik!

I always wanted to get laser eye surgery but was always too scared, I finally plucked up the courage to go for a consultation and it was smooth sailing from there, I was recommended to use an eye mask for a couple weeks to improve any chances of the surgery being cancelled, and when it came to the day of the surgery, I was first in that morning at 7am, everyone was amazing, especially the nurses who talked me through everything and explained the aftercare and also made me feel at ease. The surgery itself was so fine, a little uncomfortable, but totally manageable, not painful at all and was over super quick. All the staff in the operating room were super nice and supportive. I was on the way home shortly after 8am after being given lots of eye drops and instructions. My eyes were extremely sensitive to light and very watery when I opened them, but after a nap and by lunch time I could see perfectly, the sensitivity was almost gone. I couldn’t get over how fast it worked and quick the sensitivity went. I had a couple follow up appointments to ensure recovery was going well and I now have better than twenty twenty vision. I wish I did it ten years ago and don’t know why I was so scared and nervous about the surgery, it was uncomfortable at parts but not painful! Would highly recommend to anyone eligible, it’s life changing!

The surgery was perfect and Im happy with teh results.
On the other hand all the previous month and consultancy was not without issues.
Main problem was the delay to get the test contact lenses to try the new eye configuration. The issue was on the providers not in optilase, but the support and communication wss not the best and I was close to push back the surgery.
On the day of the surgery, they were bad planning and Ive got my surgery 6 hours after the original plan. With no clear communication but to ask every 30-45mins if im going to get the surgery soon or if i can go a have my lunch. Which i have to take after the surgery instead of going to test immediately.
Post surgery everything is alright.

From the initial consultation appointment through to my post op appointments, the staff at Optilase have been so supportive. My operation went so smoothly and all queries answered easily by the surgeon and reception team. My appointment was scheduled last minute but the team assisted and calmed me the whole way through, and it is the best thing I have ever done. Absolutely life changing!

Had Lasik surgery and was surprised at how much of a quick, efficient and painless experience it was. Aftercare and post operation support has been fantastic. Would highly recommend to anyone considering getting it done.
