Ive been a member at this gym for…
Ive been a member at this gym for nearly 4 years and consider myself now to be quite advance in my level of training , ive trained in many gyms in watford and London ..and if you really want a gym with a name NRG its exactly what it stands for and the best gym by miles in watford , firstly i would like to say HUGE thankyou to Bee the manager for all the support over the years and being there everytime i needed a shoulder and guidance in nutrition and weight training nothing is ever too much for her , also to Phil and Connor with their classes and support . Secondly i would l like to say for what you pay per month i think people who moan about the facilities and the keyboard terrorists should try and pay £200 per month and join a David Lloyd 😂 , this gym is for focused people on a fitness journey , the regular members of the community are true members and appreciate what NRG has brought to watford a sanctuary for all levels of training hats off to all the staff , the moaners will moan but will never get gains because their too busy moaning all the best and keep up the phenomal work you guys put in every single day NRG tribe
I am a former member of the gravesend…
I am a former member of the gravesend gym however due to me only attended once I cancelled the direct debit as a way to cancel membership which is as most reputable 24 hour gyms do.
I received a text message seeking payment which had an email address so emailed for clarification. I received a reply from a Deborah who works for the company who manages their subscription fees called Harland. I explained that I had received a text inwhich she advised me about a 30 day notice needed before cancellation and that the date of my email sent would be the start of my notice to quit/ cancel.
I emailed Deborah in reply and asked to clarify what the final payment would be as in is it the months membership fee of £18.99. I never received a reply back. Checked my emails 4am the next morning and the £18.99 has now jumped to £43.99 including a late fee and administration charge from an automated service. But Deborah hadn’t replied to the email I sent.
NRG gyms membership management isn’t clear even when you go into the app there is no option that you can select for cancelling that could even forward you to the correct procedure.
STAY CLEAR- an absolutely MONEY MAKING SCAM. They don’t reply to emails yet throw extra charges on.
This is the only gym brand I’ve come across that manages their cancellations through an horrendous not advertised process. It’s an absolute money making scheme for their collector service and it’s not worth it. Pure Gyms and The gym are far better in equipment quality, customer service and processes.
Don't waste your time or money
Don't be fooled by the low price of NRG Gym in Stretford, Manchester. While they have excellent equipment - almost all of it brand new - this is not a gym for serious powerlifters or martial artists of any kind. Powerlifters will find their chromed-steel bars challenging for squats, as they lack central knurling. This isn't a great place for Olympic lifting, either, in terms of layout and size of the platforms.
And that is before we get to the problems with their kickboxing offerings. This is the only gym nearby that has a decent selection of heavy bags. It's a pity that the management has no clue what to do with them. Their studio has lots of heavy bags, but for some very odd reason the management still has not figured out how to partition that studio so that classes, which do not take up the full space, can operate without kicking people out of the area. I have raised this several times with the management of the gym. They have been utterly unresponsive. On top of this, they keep randomly changing class schedules around, so you have to check schedules constantly before you go there, as to whether you can even use the heavy bags. Simply put, YOU have to adjust to THEIR schedule, not the other way around.
If you want a cheaper gym, there is The Gym Group nearby. If you are willing to pay a little bit extra for a gym that is just about as big and don't care about heavy bags or saunas, go to PureGym at Exchange Quay. Either one will actually respect your feedback and listen to you when you have an issue.
I signed up to this gym SOLELY because of their heavy bags. I intensely regret that decision, because this gym insists on locking up the studio for classes and throws out everyone using the bags during that time. The first time this happened to me, it was due to a scheduled class - and that class schedule later changed. The second time, it was because of an unscheduled class that someone just keyed in for no particular rhyme or reason. I complained both times to the manager on duty, and both times I was assured that my complaint would be taken on board. They never responded or even bothered to acknowledge the issue.
Don't waste your time and money on these people. They don't bother listening to their customers. Go to PureGym instead - the equipment might be older, but at least they actually pay attention to issues and do their best to maintain a high quality offering.
