The customer service is HORRIBLE. Kaden Fuller the account manager is rude and not helpful. I have moved and sent everything they have asked me to do and they keep charging me. I would never get this alarm. RUN

Our experience with Northstar alarm…

Our experience with Northstar alarm have been a nightmare. When we first signed up with Northstar we were never told the contract was for 5 years... that is fraud. If you are reading reviews and wondering if should choose them as an alarm company run an don't look back. We have camera items that are not working. We have been paying $85 monthly for 5 years. My husband started calling Northstar beginning in May 2021 asking them when was our contract up. He was told he needed to speak with a Manager and never did. When he called again and spoke to a customer service representative he was told to call back in October when his contract was up. So it is October and he called back he now being told that he needed to cancel in writing 60 days before the contract ended. Now a new contract has started for 18 months because the 5 year contract was not cancelled 60 day before it ended. This is VERY VERY manipulative and deceptive practices. Especially since he has been calling since May 2021 (we have documented proof) and was told to call back in October and when we did to be told this crap. I spoke to Mason who was not helpful at all. He told me there was no one else I could speak to besides him. No supervisors not management no one else could help us. Please do not waste your time or money. I demand for our contract to be canceled when it was supposed to cancel and not to start another 18 month term. We do not want to continue any business with Northstar or be responsible for any bills from this new 18 month contract. We were not aware of any 60 notice needed and was not given incorrect information from your staff. CANCEL OUR CONTRACT WHEN IT FIRST EXPRIED!!

We have been with Northstar for over 8…

We have been with Northstar for over 8 years and regretted it from the first year. It took 4 tech visits initially to get the system working right after we signed up. Their "local" support was very scarce . After that the system worked fine within its capabilities, and we dealt with the limited functionality and outdated functionality. The system was locked up with their security codes etc we could not make any changes ourselves. After our multi year initial contract was up they took it upon themselves, to renew our contracts automatically without any notification or authorizations. They arbitrarily increased renewal intervals from 12 months to 16 months. The employees are pleasant but support and company policies are shady and unacceptable. If you are looking for advice, I would say stay away from this company. They are the kind of company that gives security business a terrible reputation.

Never sign with NorthStar

We were not told we were signing a 5 year contract, something we NEVER have/would have done for something other than something like a car loan.
Poor quality and workmanship, so much so that we barely even used the system before we gave up as even after being “repaired” multiple times, it never worked
We are imprisoned by the company and cannot get out of our contract even tho we moved 3 years ago and are renting the home
Rude employees
Overpriced
Overall, one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with any company. Basically, NorthStar is a thief

While employees there attempt to appear pleasant, their business practices are shady in their communication by being vague and non-transparent. Not taking into consideration the uncertainties of buying/selling homes and using to their advantage to continue to require payments. Very unreasonable and untrustworthy company.

The service is horrible, waking up in the middle of the night due to no connection all the time. I called and they sent me a new card (cell card) still no good. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS CRAP they wont call you back EVER. your alarm goes off dont worry they will call you for that 5 minutes later and then twice even if you canceled on your panel, phone and via text. Tried canceling and was told I'd have to pay until the end of contract, fine left it. then tried after and they said nope need a 60 day PRIOR to end of contract or it auto renews for another 18 months locking me in again.

Was also someone who was told the contract was 2 years but I ended up finding out it was a 5 year contract. Not happy at all with the service, equipment works when it want to and you come out way to much money than they’re actually worth because the city charges you a fee for having a security alarm, the city charges you when you request for police dispatch, for when the alarm goes off, You would think this is covered by the security payment being made each month of close to $80, which LAST 5 years!!! They charge a hefty fee for canceling and force you to send in writing that you want to cancel service

This is by far the worst company ever…

This is by far the worst company ever their equipment is faulty they do nothing to help you out they give you the runaround and they still want to charge you the full amount even if your service has been down for over a month they will not offer any kind of discounts or anything for a service tech to come out anybody who’s looking into alarm system please please stay away from Northstar alarm security system they are the worst and you will waste your money and you will get ripped off. This is a true honest review I’ve dealt with this for over six months giving them the chance to help or repair the issue with no success. And if you do decide to go with Northstar good luck!

Honestly the worst company to ever deal with
Bought a house and the previous home owner had it and we were to just take over on the contract no big deal right? Wrong it took 4 months to get the system up and running multiple calls. Set up appointments with them and they wouldnt show or call back. Are expected to pay while the system was down. Charged us for tech to come out
Oh and would email previous home owner about the system. So nice to know some one who may still have a key to my house was getting emails letting them know the system was down. Not worth it terrible customer service

Buyer BEWARE!

Buyer BEWARE!! WE had this company do our home security for a few years and we were happy. That is, until we were forced to move through no fault of our own. They made us jump through all sorts of hoops providing documentation that the move was not out fault. We sold the house and fully intended to keep North Star at our new place. With one week to go, we found out the deed of our new home was "dirty". We were forced to go to an apartment. Everyone gave me different steps and contacts for cancelation. We finally did get approved, and they are fining us the 250.00 fee on top of paying for all the months we didn't have an alarm. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

Company will lie and scam you

Company will lie and scam you. Only time the alarm ever went off was for a short time. I got it shut off. No communication from the company. Next thing you know a cop shows up. He commence to berate me as no one called off his being routed to the house. "Your alarm company didn't call you?" he asked? "No sir." was all I could tell him because they have never called. Fast forward to last year, I called to cancel the service. The employee explained that I would have to wait until the contract was up end of May to cancel service. Now, this June we called to cancel and were told we needed to cancel in writing at least 60 days before contract expired, and that we were renewed for another 36 months. I explained to them that I would have canceled in writing in September if I had known that, but they lied, and are demanding I stay in contract. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Total money pit, with no actual service.

4 years into a 5 year contract I sold…

4 years into a 5 year contract I sold my home and relocated but did not want to transfer the service and new home owner was not interested. 12 months before contract expiration i contacted Northstar to cancel service. I was not offered an early termination option but i did offer to buy out the remainder of the contract to avoid an auto renewal situation in the future. Northstar refused and did so in order to auto renew my account despite receiving proper notice. I was told to mail in a letter of cancellation and they would not renew my account when the contract expired. As you can guess by now they auto renewed my contract for 18 months and deny receiving the letter.

Other things I’ve learned: Northstar reps will tell you there’s no one else to talk to, they have no supervisor and have no name or number of who to contact above them. I have been told repeatedly they would look into the situation and get back to me however the only time they do is when they get a negative online review of the BBB contacts them.

This company is unethical and will do anything they can to take advantage of their “customers” in an effort to make a dollar. Stay away and believe the negative reviews. There is a lot more to this story but and it’s at the point where we are pursuing legal action. Today we contacted the local US Attorney’s office and reported the bad faith business practices Northstar is conducting in addition to retaining private counsel.

The Best Movers Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I am late on writing this review about…

I am late on writing this review about our experience with Northstar Moving Company. However, I'll just say that it was Amazing! We had the honor of watching these four men do a great job. The names were as follows: (It was difficult for me to read their handwriting, so I apologize if I made mistakes with their last names) The hard working, honest and careful men were as follows:

Austin Bastian (Lead), Adam Derr, Noah Harker, and Albert Northrup.

With that being shared, I wanted to say THANK YOU guys!!!!

They got all of our 3 bedroom apartment completely packed and delivered in one day. They were an awesome group of guys! We only did a small amount of work ourselves packing and getting organized. Because of this reason, we expected that this would be a two day job. However, as I mentioned earlier, all was done in one day. This included taking our beds apart and then putting the beds together once we got into our new place. For all our future moves, we will only use Northstar Moving Company. We LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!

Do not and I repeat do not use this company. They screw their customers their system does not work properly their customer service is down right poor rude disrespectful. They just want your money that is it. not do not do not use this company. My situation is exactly the same as the others trying to cancel their account.

Horrible company

Horrible company. Salesmen promise and then installers are incompetent. Alarm did not work after install. Called and no replies. Had another company come in and replace. I trusted talking to owner was good for cancellation. He is shady and poor excuse for a human. I am now stuck in a 42 month contract. Thats OK. I will cost them customers as much a possible. RUN FROM NORTHSTAR AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

If I could zero stars I would

If I could zero stars I would. I switched my alarm company because the salesperson was awesome and amazing. The tech who installed the system was amazing.

But beware!! If anything ever goes wrong, and you have to call in.... it’s WORSE than a nightmare. You’re on hold for hours. When you finally get through they try to walk you through troubleshooting and the person on the phone walks you through steps to SEE IF THEY WORK! When you request a technician to just come out and fix it, they tell you it costs $99 to send someone out to fix their s**t! As if the monthly system payments and the equipment bill isn’t enough money.

CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! Don’t use this company.

Northstar cares nothing about the customer

I signed up for Northstar security 7 years ago. Since that time I have never had a word, written, phone, email or text. They simply deduct every month from my account. I hadn’t turned it on in more than a year and decided I would cancel, particularly since my system is now out of date. Low and behold when I finally reached someone, I was told I couldn’t cancel for another year because they had automatically “renewed “ me for another 18 months without any notice or consent. I asked for a copy of the contract and 2 weeks later have yet to see anything.
These people are crooks.
Do not use them!
