Nearly a year after our last move
Nearly a year after our last move, we found ourselves moving home again, trying to take advantage of the stamp duty holiday. This time two moves, in and out of Nightingale's climate controlled storage. Again, I can only say first class. Also a shout out to Kevin, for taking the stress out of it all!

I have had to remove my review due to threat of legal action from Nightingales. However, in my own personal opinion I would not recommend this company to anyone.

The stamp duty holiday created a stampede, however this mover still kept our date and gave us a great standard of service throughout. Dispute the fact that we only knew we were definitely moving 24 hours before the day.

FREE BOXES stopped me begging at supermarkets for materials to pack, like we had on previous moves. However next time we will leave the packing to the movers! Cant fault the service from start to finish.

Moving your Mum to sheltered housing is difficult in the best of times, almost impossible during Covid. Nightingale's some how made is workable and looked after her from start to finish. I would highly recommend.

Pressure from the house buyers, constant calls from the solicitor, all added to the stress. But Nightingale didn’t, the one part of the move that was faultless, great service
Honest Review
They claimed on their website they were a “Which? Trusted Trader” so in September we booked them for removals and storage. We explained to their office staff we would need to be in storage for 10 days, at no point in a number of conversations did they ever openly warn us that regardless of the 10 days in storage we would be charged for 28 days. The number of containers used in our removal were in our opinion inflated from 7 containers used to 11. We took out what was called ‘silver’ insurance but received no documentation or evidence to say we were insured. It has recently be confirmed to us by Which? that they are not endorsed by “Which Trusted Traders” and have not been since October 2019. We have reported them to TRADING STANDARDS. We have no issues at all with the removal men and found them to be helpful, kind and very hard working.
Steer well clear.
DO NOT GO NEAR THEM. THE OWNER IS A BULLY AND A LIAR TREATS HIS STAFF, CUSTOMERS, SUPPLIERS LIKE DIRT. LIES AND MANIPULATES FOR HIS OWN GAINS, THEN BLAMES YOU WHEN IT ALL GOES WRONG. DO NOT TRUST HIM WITH YOUR WORLDLY POSESSIONS.
Honest Trader? The facts
Fact: When we booked they claimed they were a "Which? Trusted Trader" when they were not. We have that in writing from Which?
Fact: We paid for additional insurance but we were never sent the documentation that we should have received (e.g. policy details, coverage, exclusions and who to claim from etc.) even after requesting it a number of times.
Fact: We had to pay 18 days insurance for our goods in storage after they were removed from storage -Insurance for nothing?
Fact: We were charged for 28 days storage when they knew we only needed 10 days when we booked. After we were invoiced they said it was in the Ts&Cs unless we could give 28 days notice of removal from stores. The storage "Quote" did not mention this and neither did their staff when we talked to them when booking and about the lack of costs on the storage "Quote" and how much the actual storage costs would be on the invoice.
Fact: They inflated the number of containers in storage from 7 to 11 without any explanation and later stated it was because our garden items took up 5 container spaces in their outside storage area.
Fact: They charged us a £100 deposit for boxes and then stated we used 50 boxes. They have still not returned our deposit.
Fact: The clause in the Ts&Cs states - relevant extracts only: "23 Termination".."If you wish to terminate your storage contract, you must give 28 days notice"... "charges for storage are payable to the date when the notice should have taken effect" how does that relate to a total move that uses storage?
Fact: We proposed a reasonable solution and refund to our initial grievances but this was ignored.
These are some, but not all of the facts and we asked this company to change their processes to ensure that no other customers will be hurt as we have been but they state they "meet and exceed all industry standards". You can make your own mind up.
We have reported them to: BAR, Trading Standards, Which? and Reason Global (their insurance underwriters).
Note: we have no issues with the actual removal men.

Not the best Service by far

Well not the review I was hoping to write, used before with no problems, so chose to use again as well experienced in the house move market.
Anyway quote higher than others but one expected experience to maybe cost a bit more, and we agreed to use.
Some delays in sale during covid, and once available the market ran with some speed and as usual in a chain you get to a position of needing to accept dates to keep things going.
Anyway we had a provisional completion date, and Nightingales wanted £100 non refundable but change date deposit ( never heard of this in previous communications ) anyway when in a corner you just pay
Nearer the date we had some issues down the chain and dates needed moving, so we rang and after finding our file was asked for £100 so i advised we paid this before and that was now ok after checking the invoice.
Further problems in the exchange process we ended up with 6 days notice, understand not Nightingale issue, but on the day of exchange we asked for a removal on the date we had just exchanged mid week and Nightingale could not fit us in as busy, yet before we had been advised that if stuck they would call teams in, after some requests if they could load the day before all was a no. To the extent that was it no help, not even we may be able to identify A company to help you just really tough luck attitude
So they do not provide services, do not care or help in an emergency, and still retain the £100 deposit. So be warned and be aware they seem to have lots of hidden costs
If it was not for Melhuish and Your Move removals jumping in to assist we would have had a major issue, and both the above were a superb team more than willing and able and better price and service.
For me i don’t need to chase £100 refund through courts, just read the reviews and go to those i ended up using

Great service from start to finish. The office staff were helpful and informative and the crew worked relentlessly even though it was a really hot day, even the after service was exceptional. Highly recommend this company if you are moving cannot rate them highly enough. Thank you Nightingale's
The worst experience I have ever had…
The worst experience I have ever had with any company. Denied I had insurance with them despite my having paid for insurance every month for over 4 years. Service was awful. Abusive staff. Extortionate fees. Claim to have branches all over the U.K. and Europe They have one. Claim to be members of WHICH they have not. Claim to have a 5 star rating on Trust Pilot they do not. Avoid.
