Absolutely impossible to contact the council. The homepage always crashes or shows blank pages and the voice bot is designed you to get you to open the website no matter what enquiry you may have.

Worse council in Britain

Newham is worse council in Britain everyone knows about it not even this council never help residence where as making million of pounds a month from residence in different ways.
I been this council more than 20 years & got too much stress & paid too much money ‘ now planning to move other borough.

Useless unhelpful girl.

Useless staff. After I waited on line one hour, the girl hanged up on me instead of giving me one small piece of information that I needed. Not the first time I’ve been let down by this office. No words. Hire someone that’s more proactive and nicer to people.

This council along with Southwark…

This council along with Southwark compete head to head for the worst in London. Has again taken me days to submit their property licence scheme (Newham can't do IT, despite the fact they want you to) and then it still comes up they have not been paid despite taking the money off my credit card. The whole scheme is over priced and seems to serve little purpose. Potential investors in property should look in other council areas.

How to contact Newham council

Give up. It is impossible to speak to anyone at Newham Council as they have setup an automated voice system designed to send you in circles trying to speak to someone and constantly telling you how wonderful their useless website is to solve your problem, frustratingly advising you can enter the extension number, without any page displaying extension numbers. If you do manage to get to a human, the first thing they will do, is transfer you back onto the merry-go-round of automated menu options, which waste your time again and again with long-winded announcements. You can waste half a day trying to speak to someone to help you at Newham Council and each one you might get through to, are not interested in helping you. It is a crap council with an unfit for purpose system, unless it was designed to frustrate it's callers and prevent anyone from contacting actual council employees.

The worst and horrible council in London.
Received pcn,paid that in time,got the receipt from newham, and hence I received charge certificate of £195 and no option being given on the letter to tell them that PCN has been paid on time , they don't have any contact phone number or email,,,,,

Having made informal representations to…

Having made informal representations to LB Newham regarding the issuing of a PCN for an ALLEGED parking contravention, the same were rejected. Following a rejection letter that was littered with inaccuracies, grammatical errors and non sensical statements, I sent formal representations against the issuing of the PCN.

The LB Newham are then required to give consideration to the same under Regulation 5(2)(b) of the Civil Enforcement of Parking Contravention (England) Representations & Appeals Regulations 2007. The response received was in the negative, and the PCN remained live. I then took this case to the Environment and Parking Adjudicatior who issued Judgement, which I have copied and pasted here. This Judgement is a public document and as such I have no problem providing a copy here that has been properly edited and had all identifying remarks/ comments removed. Should you wish to see a full copy of the same, please contact me.

Please note from this judgement LB Newham have been heavily criticised in respect of 'procedural impropriety', which means in this context a failure by the Enforcement Authority to observe any requirement imposed on it by the Traffic Management Act 2004 or Regulations 4(5)(a) if the Civil Enforcement of Parking Contraventions (England) Representations & Appeals Regulations 2007

“The Appellant raises the issue of non-compliance by the Enforcement Authority with the discharge of its duty under Regulation 5(2)(b) of the Civil Enforcement of Parking Contravention (England) Representations & Appeals Regulations 2007.

The points raised by the Appellant in her [his] Formal Representations deserved proper consideration. I therefore carefully examined the wording of both the Notice of Rejection itself, and the Case Summary to assist in my determination as to whether or not the Enforcement Authority had accorded requisite consideration as it obliged to do so.

My examination of the content of the Enforcement Authority’s Notice of Rejection and Case Summary reveal major flaws, which cannot be attributed to ‘typing error’ as described by the Enforcement Authority.

In addition to the overt failure to adequately identify/rebut or retort to the Appellant’s issues in the Notice of Rejection, I observed there to be a similar lacking of the same in the Case Summary, which is additionally littered with inaccuracies, grammatical errors and nonsensical statements.

Indeed the Notice of Rejection contains material factual wrongs, which is totally unacceptable in legal proceedings

I concluded that the Enforcement Authority had not discharged its duty under Regulation 5(2)(b) of the Civil Enforcement of Parking Contraventions (England) Representations & Appeals Regulations 2007 which I find to be a ‘procedural impropriety’ on the part of the Enforcement Authority

In this context, ‘procedural impropriety’ means a failure by the Enforcement Authority to observe any requirement imposed on it by the Traffic Management [A]ct 2004 or Regulations 4(5)(a) of the Civil Enforcement of Parking Contraventions (England) Representations & Appeals Regulations 2007.

Regulation 7(2) of the Civil Enforcement of Parking Contraventions (England) Representations & Appeals Regulations 2007 provides that if I conclude that a Ground specified in Regulation 4(4) applies I shall Allow the appeal”

This Appeal is allowed”.

This waste of public funding to bring this case to the Adjudication service (Legal Proceedings) is abhorrent this omes at a time when poeple are struggling to pay bills and put provide basic needs for there families. LB Newham and other Borough Councils across the entire UK are increasing there Council Tax demands year on year and this is the way in which Council officials charged with considering Appeals in respect of fixed penalty notices are squandering public funds. This is not only fundamentally wrong, but is an absymal betray of the publics trust.

I have asked LB Newham that every single parking ticket and fixed penalty notice that has been issued by hte Council now be reviewed for failure to abide by the duties place on teh council to consdier and then all cases that the Council have been found to be in breach of the above, then contact should be made to the relevant individuals so that there cases can be reconsidered.

Not only have I asked for the above to be reviewed urgently, I have also forwarded a complaint to my local MP to have this matter considered at the highest level.

Shocking Service

I have been help a elderly relative, by trying to different departments in London Borough Newham and I'm personally shocked and appalled how bad the services are I applaud any to try and contact Newham Council and actually get a member of Newham Council to return there call. Newham Council are extremely good at saying I will get a member of my team to call you back, or give you a telephone number that no one answers. This is my dealings with Newham Council over the last ten months.

Worst council in LONDON

Worst council in LONDON. Yes you heard me right. These people are so hungry for money. I parked my car on single yellow line, i went to get breakfast and came back in 1 min, and i got ticket. I appealed it and they refused it. Well i do understand it was my fault to parked the car on single yellow line but they could cancel it as i showed the the receipt and between 1min i got ticket: even the enforcement officer uploaded my picture with food on the website as proof but these hungry people didn’t consider to cancel the ticket.

After complaining to newham council for…

After complaining to newham council for so many years about a leak that only happens when it rains, the leak started in 2014. I’ve had inspector after inspector, and in 2017 they were advised to get scaffolding up and do pointing and do the window lintel. After so many years of paying rent living in these conditions with mould and damp and leaks. I decided to get legal help. Now I finally have the evidence and a solictor support. I live with a child who is astmatic and her Astma nurse sent newham homes a letter to help with bidding and they replied to take up repairs with repairs and can’t award us any points for bidding. My child’s health has not been put into consideration or the way I’ve been living.

I lived in newham 15 years before I…

I lived in newham 15 years before I moved to Manchester. I thank God I moved because last week I was in london after being away for 4 years to visit family and friends and I regret ever going to newham borough in particular. I was fined so many times for parking on roads where there was no parking machine or signs. There is a particular street in Upton Park called Harold Rd where it states you can pay at the machine and there’s no machine and when you go to the end of the road you see a sign of PayByPhone which I did and when I came back to the car I found a ticket, I still had 15mins remaining. After challenging it the council still say I have to pay as it’s single yellow line but the conditions are stated on it that you can stay up to 2 hours max and u pay at a machine which doesn’t exist. And PayByPhone is there and collected money from my account and stated the name of the street that I parked on. I was in London for 4 days I left there with a bill of £275 worth of fines. I have been driving in Manchester for the last 4 years without tickets. In Manchester parking is straight forward where you have to pay there machines for people to pay and it’s clearly shown but dodgy newham hide signs and parking machines so they could make money from people that drive. Also I saw an elderly couple that displayed a disability badge on their car which was valid and it was on sunday morning and they still got a ticket. It’s about time people of newham wake up and do something before it’s too late.

Newham council they are very bad bad…

Newham council they are very bad bad people I don’t even know how to say how bad they’re they don’t even care about you, have been having issues with my bidding login and have been calling and sending emails no one want to help, I’m really confused and depressed about everything about newham council, the place they put me in temporary accommodation am still here for almost 4 years now but no body care about my mental health they even told me that I don’t have housing officer how can they be possible no one to complain to as an housing officer, I called the council telling them that the place they put me is too far from my children school and my work they told me that there nothing they can do about it, my children travel to school every day almost more than One hours to school every day me I travel to work almost two hours to my work and on top of that I spend a lot for my transport and my children transport as well having calling them complaining they are not doing nothing, newham council is disgusting and I think the people they are doing pachcarerity I hate them with all passion

Worst borough

Worst borough! honestly to live it's almost impossible, especially if you drive! £200 for a parking permit to park my own car outside my house? is absurd! that's not including the sneaky cameras they have down every road and main street, bus lane cameras, constantly closing roads to redirect all traffic to the main road so you can't avoid the cameras! it's a police state! the roads are horrible to drive on, but they have the money and resources to expand by putting up more cameras! parking tickets are ridiculous! £65 is what some people earn for a day's work! if you don't pay within 14 days it goes up to £120 which is what most people earn for a day's work absurd! man absurd!

Newham council is not the poorest borough, they make loads of money through parking fine, among one of the worst councils to raise money this way. They have tons of different parking zone to create confusion and make money. They erect signs for roads close to school , signs you can’t see in advance unless you are actually turning into the road and it’s too late , either a camera or their warden would issue a fine. They are leeches. The mayor of London and the mayor of Newham, I don’t know which one is worst than the other. A change is definitely needed in Newham, a new generation with a different mindset. The borough is so dirty, they can’t attract any big names business for clothing on the high street. Their is virtually no free parking in Newham. So many homeless people near green street market, can be intimidating, the parks are unsafe in the evening. Their customer service is non existent. Blame everything on Covid.

Horrible new ham council shame on you !!!!!becoming back home day by day !! I never received any court orders and set payment plans on phone with them. Now I am being charged court fees and enforcement fees for more than the amount I allegedly owe without having been notified about any action whatsoever. Call then and they are rude, so difficult to speak to a manager, employees rude and lot listening.
Horrible service! Pass my details to" Rundless Enforcement agent" without discuss or sending any letters to my home address asking me to pay £279 where as if i got any notification i could sort out to pay £65 with in 14 days !!

Awful

Council tax office needs to do 1 thing and they can’t even get it right. So many wrong council tax calculations, not sending bills and next thing I see is that my case is with enforcement as a court order has been issued. I never received any court orders and set payment plans on phone with them. Now I am being charged court fees and enforcement fees for more than the amount I allegedly owe without having been notified about any action whatsoever. Call then and they are rude, so difficult to speak to a manager, employees rude and lot listening.
