I've spent a couple thousands dollars shopping at Musubi Kiln. I do not regret my purchases. I've seen people complaining about price here, but if it's too expensive, don't buy it. Everyone has to make decisions on what they think is worth it based on the listed price. Their photography is excellent so you can clearly see what you will receive in the mail. See photos, spend money, get item. Very simple. Their communication is excellent. They usually get back to me within 1 business day. Additionally, I personally believe each item is worth it 100% even with the price tag. You won't find items of better quality for the same price, just try it. Each item leaves me in awe of the craftsmanship, hence why I keep going back for more. I love that I can explore Japan's best kilns through one curated shop. Many of those kilns will not ship to the U.S. so it is very convenient to have Musubi Kiln curate the items from across Japan.

Musubi Kilm sell top quality Japanese products with an emphasis on traditional crafts, often produced in very small enterprises. Thus, the prices can be steep, especially including postage, but you are paying for the workman’s and workwoman’s traditional training, and the long attention and processes required for handmade work. I have bought items from Musubi at different times and not been disappointed in them, or the service from the company.

Musubi Kiln is next level, for both customer service and customer satisafction. The Tokoname tea set I bought was better than shown, by far. Touches that matter--the letter expressing their ethos and the gratitude for supporting quality craftspeople, as their products are hand made. The most wonderful golden furoshiki, a cloth gift wrapping that was totally unexpected. The wooden box for it all. Musubi Kiln are outstanding in every respect. Now to have some Sono Organic green tea!

I spent $250USD on a piece of lacquer ware and when it arrived I immediately noticed that it had a major defect. The only way to contact the company is by email. I let them know. They spent several days trying to decide if what I had clearly showed them in several photos was in fact a defect. I decided I'd had enough so I started a dispute with Visa. The company claimed that the defect adds "charm and character." BALONEY! Then the company makes an offer to refund 50% of the purchase price. Garbage for half price is still garbage. I stopped communicating with the company and I am now waiting on the outcome of the Visa dispute. This is only the 3rd time in my 70 years that I had to make a merchant dispute. I won the other 2. I read up on lacquer ware and if the application process is rushed or done incorrectly, bubbles form. If it had been on the underside I would not have made a complaint. It's clear that they don't care about the customer. They sell junk. Expensive junk. I learned my lesson.

Do yourself a favor and do not shop from this place. They overcharge by double. I was duped by them.
