The fish was lovely the batter was again lovely but the oil it was cooked in was revolting. It left a terrible taste in your mouth. What a shame if they could use a better oil it would have been great.

Visited Mother Hubbards gor first time ate in excellant food generous portiins friendly staff. Then had a delivery yesterday. Brilliant really well packed in inividual boxes including chocolate sponge and sticky toffee pudding. Food still hot. The puddings were still watm after eating meal with generous helping of custard. Far better than McDonalds that I suspect is cold before it leaves the store!!

Chips were great and the fish was ok. Batter was soggy. Had a crispy inch at one end. Won’t go again.

The food was adequate, but much better fish and chops are available locally. However, while I was waiting a family allowed their children to run around completely out of control, screaming and shouting. The parents and staff members seemed to encourage such appalling behaviour. I will definitely not go again.

First time trying the newly opened Mother Hubbard fish & chip shop, Shirley - Southampton.

One word to describe it…. ‘Average’.

I asked the friendly lad at the counter for a pea fritter and small chips. He didn’t know what a pea fritter was, then explained it’s not on the menu.

I ended up ordering 4x jalapeño cheese bites, small chips and small mushy peas. Cost approx £8.

The jalapeño bites were disappointing, dry, no filling, not much flavour. Chips were ok - not hot or crispy. Mushy peas were ok.

Staff seemed to be bickering between themselves which set an uncomfortable atmosphere, which was a shame, especially as the lad taking orders was being helpful and friendly.

Overall experience was average and ok. I’ll probably not be going back in a hurry.

Mother Hubbard's in Worcester. Staff always willing and helpful. Andy's Special fish and chips have traditional batter and are the best for miles around. Highly recommended!

ve used this take away several times because it is conveniently situated near the taxi rank, but im fed up of the service here. Last night was the final straw. Ive often had to speak up at the counter where the till is because staff try to charge a lot more than the cost my order. It happened again last night on the 24th january. Im not even talking about just a few pound extra. They tried to overcharge me by £24. I think they rely on the fact that on a Saturday night at 9pm most of their customers might be a little less vigilant. Then we i actually got my order, it was wrong,not even remotely like the food i ordered.I had to throw it away because they served me a vegable pizza, (i asked for a Donna, there was no Donna in sight) I have an extremely severe food allergiies , my food was full of the food I was allergic to. I couldn't really check the food at the counter because you wrap it all up then hand over the bag of food. Who is responsible for health & safety? I need to know and this needs to be looked into seriously. You are serving food to the public, they must be some accountabily here. This could have easily been a medical emergency. It was only because my husband took a piece, it was noticed that this was not what we asked for. If I had eaten a peice of green pepper which you served me a could have gone into alphagesic shock. This is serious, but this isn't the first time . Much more care is needed when you are preparing good. That is one point. Aswell as this, is the insult of trying to rip customers off. I know we've all got a living to make and sometimes money is scarse, but this includes your customers money too. I dont live in in Barnsley, and we didnt eat in. You charged us a lot more than we owed. We dont expect to get ripped off. Like I said, we are all trying to make money stretch.

I have used mother hubbards erdingtonquite often recently the portions have been reduced less chips smaller fish and prices have gone up by £1per portion for fish and chips.on the 16 01 26i went in ordered my fish and chips,a wait of about 15 mins is usually so I sat down and waited the girl behind counter calling out numbers for the customer to collect she called out a number that no one claimed and put it on top of counter two people collected their order she then called out the number on top of counter again no one claimed it so she called out my number and gave it to me I noticed what she had done and excepted it and left when I got home it was cold the meal was not good and I could not eat it totally bad service

Buy one gt one free burger deals are rip off. Burger small does not fill one person. Too expensive and poor quantity.

Very fresh food, I didn’t experience what the below bad comments are suggesting. Every time I’m in the area I get my fish and chips.

I would rate zero if I could. Both fish and chips were dry and cardboard-like. Mushy peas are psychedelic green and appears that a huge vat of processed peas has been tipped into a pan as opposed to proper mushy peas. There are some really good chippy's around here so there is absolutely no need to spend hard earned money in this super duper sub standard place!

Let's start by saying that anyone who knows anything about Chip Shops knows that this is not only worth far more than it's current 2.8 average rating but is by far and away the best in Milton Keynes, so nice to have somewhere that sells decent fish and good portions which is something MK has suffered with for many years - I have now been several time and - The Positives..... Reasonable prices, good portion sizes, great menu choices, friendly staff and good fresh food - The Not So Positives.... food can can take a while to be ready, some of the staff don't speak great English, the chips can be dirty and need to be cleaner with more attention to removing bad chips post peeling, the thinner take away boxes stink of the plastic coating and print which detracts from the smell and flavour of the food. - It's still early days but it's off to a good start for me and will be my go-to chippy in MK now - one sound bit of advice for you though, regardless of which way round you prefer it and if you disagree or not, a decent traditional chippy asks if you want salt and vinegar in that order because that is the order in which they should be applied, fact

The batter free haddock is delicious but I wish they didn’t force you to buy it with a salad. I dislike cucumber & tomatoes and resent having to buy a salad full of these. I’d be far happier with a tub of mushy peas, so please give us a choice.

Went for lunch, staff very nice and helpful but food was not very good.
We ordered 2x spicy chicken burgers meal.
Chips were OK, but the burgers were just greasy, full of oil. Did not taste good at all and left us feeling a bit sick.

We also got the chicken wings, the batter was too thick and again really greasy and oily

Won't be returning but thanks.

I was expecting something good about the fish n chips I was going to eat tonight. It was such a big disappointment! Chips were nothing like chip shop chips. Batter was far too thick. And the fish was pretty unremarkable. My wife’s jacket potato and chili with cheese was even worse. Only the salad was the best bit. Would I go there again? Big fat NO! Pricing was competitive, but tables needed to be cleaned more often. As most of the tables were left with food bits on it. Such a shame really.

Just been to Mother Hubards in Burnley and was served by two lovely young ladies Luna and Fizzah . Their customer service was excellent. The food was amazing fish bites and battered chips .

Ordered at 20.24 was not delivered till21.47 absolutely frezzing couldn't eat it won't be ordering from here again

Do not use this company on uber eats.
I ordered two meals on a buy one get one free promo and only received one of each.
When I called them they said that I should have ordered two of each and that uber have agreed that a message was missing from their site saying that. And, that the issue was with uber.
I said if they were aware then the issue is theirs. They said “tuff” and put the phone down. So I paid £30 for 5 chicken strips and a small fish sandwich.
The fact that they know of the issue and still taking money is vile. Go elsewhere. Uber said the issue is with the company.

Tasty fish and chips and restaurant service is too good

Avoid this place, especially through Just Eat. I ordered food that kept getting delayed, couldn’t cancel through the app, and when I rang the restaurant, the lady first decided she couldn’t speak English, then eventually could and admitted the food had been “waiting ages” because they had no drivers. I asked to cancel, but she refused and pushed me back to Just Eat.

By the time it arrived, the food was cold, soggy, and inedible. Just Eat’s “compensation” was £1.62—an insult. Between the restaurant dodging responsibility and Just Eat’s shocking service, it was a total waste of money.

I’m sure the food is lovely if you actually get it fresh and warm, but I didn’t. Why accept orders with no drivers available? I won’t be ordering from Mother Hubbard’s again—and after this, I won’t be using Just Eat either.
