Worst customer service and the absolute WORST manager ever! I was on my way to the lodge and a tree was down on the mountain. I called to explain the situation to customer service and then the manager who dug his feet in regarding a refund. No refund - period! How am I supposed to get past a downed tree on a mountain? HORRIBLE!

Our most recent visit to Monteverde Lodge and Garden was just as perfect as the first. We are always warmly welcomed... the entire staff is helpful, service is prompt, courteous, and always friendly. This year we noticed updating to the rooms, additions to the dining room menus, and a spiffed up library. I can’t say enough about this place and look forward to our 6th visit, hopefully in early 2021.

The room was ok. No TV in it was a surprise for us. Good breakfast and very good service in general.

Beautiful facility in every way. The setting was fabulous. Our room had a patio overlooking the gorgeous gardens. There were walking paths and a butterfly garden, a wonderful restaurant, and much more. The staff was friendly, efficient, and accommodating. This is an outstanding place to stay--wish we could have stayed longer.

Marvelous 3 day stay at the lovely Monteverde Lodge and Gardens. The food was excellent and the surrounding forest and gardens with many birds were fun to explore. Close to other restaurants and activities, most of all the wonderful Monteverde Cloud Reserve.

Beautiful and convenient location! Just wish we could have stayed longer. Easy walk into town but food is great at the hotel as well.

Great Hotel in a great location. We had a garden room - 1 minute from the pool where drinks were served at the waterside !

Super knowledgeableand helpful staff. Only a 10 minute walk to St Elena where there are shops, an ATM, a Post Office, local bakery and the Frog Ponds !!

Guided tours were very well organised including day and night time walks - the guides were very informative and helpful

Great setting. Beautiful gardens on premises. Keep personal items off patio! Monkeys WILL steal it. Staff very helpful and friendly. Excellent place to see the parks.

Everything about our stay at Monteverde Lodge and Gardens was perfect. Our first stay at the lodge was 20 years ago and, upon our 2019 arrival, we couldn’t figure out what took us so long to get back there! We enjoyed the food, the room balconies watching monkeys and butterflies, the warm fireplace in the bar/restaurant area where we played backgammon, we even spotted two quetzals from the yoga area in the gardens. The beautiful pool was our sweet spot, full of nature sounds and peaceful. We felt very welcomed at the lodge, which is kept as clean and lovely as the amazing gardens. The wife tells me Monteverde Lodge and Gardens is now our go-to, special occasion place since our recent visit. It’s everything a traveler could want while in Monteverde, and we will be returning often. Thanks to all at the lodge who helped make our return to Monteverde such a splendid and peaceful adventure. We look forward to seeing you again very soon.

Excellent service, wonderful breakfast and really nice rooms. Highly recommended! The staff at the pool bar gave us directions to see the horizontal ficus tree known only to locals - it was awesome!

Had a great experience at this hotel. Will definitely stay here again when we return to the area. Staff here is extremely helpful. Restaurant and bar on site not only serve great food and drinks, but the overall atmosphere is relaxing, perfect after a long day! Rooms are cozy and have everything you need, turn down service was a nice feature.

We loved the Monteverde Lodge and Gardens. The property is beautiful and rooms were lovely as well with beautiful views and a good size room. We did the option with meals and every single thing we ate was truly delicious in every way. Everyone on staff was so accommodating and friendly and nice to talk to.

We enjoyed our stay at this lodge but we thought it was a bit overpriced. Yes, the location is wonderful. And yes, the ratio of staff to guests is very high. But that second feature re staff is not an important item to us. In fact, we did not use the daily room cleaning service OR the nightly turn down service. But the room was lovely & we liked the balcony & the view. One issue the lodge may want to look into is that the glass doors to the balcony fit loosely - when the wind blows they rattle & cold air came in during our stay. But again, overall the facility is very nice with a GREAT staff, lovely features, & a fabulous location.

monteverde lodge and gardens was a wonderful experience. we had breakfast with coati in the deck dining area. we were wished a happy day by capuchin monkeys eating fruit in the trees as we walked away from the hotel to explore santa elena town. with binoculars, we watched three large toucans at the very top of the tree line as the sun was setting for the day. we saw flocks of green parrots flying across the grounds with spectacular viewing from our hotel balcony. as we explored the grounds and trails in the gardens, hummingbirds flew so close to us we could hear their hover like sound as they went from flower to flower.
the hotel staff were top rate, amiable, and went the extra mile to accommodate every little request we had. lastly the meals were delicious and abundant with healthy tasty choices that were more than one could eat at one sitting. i would recommend and would stay at this hotel again. what an experience!
