I met this guy named Scott at 6:30pm in their Mike Pero office in Nelson. There was this positive vibe I could feel the moment he stood up of his chair and introduced himself.

He asked me what I do for a living, my finances, savings, expenses, other sources of income, etc. After a few minutes of talking, he told me I can borrow $6**,***. He said, "Start looking for a property and I'll get you that money in 5-7 working days". I had no plan of spending that amount but I was quite delighted to know that was on the table.

Five to six working days after my wife and I submitted all the required documents, we got a pre-approved loan from the bank. You couldn't be happier than that. Note: I'm a sole earner with three kids but with no debts at all, and have set aside money for 20% deposit, not relying on my KiwiSaver which was just $19k.

On settlement date, there was a gift basket left on the deck of our house. We didn't open it until the 2nd or 3rd day. It contained a bottle of wine, flowers, chocolates, etc. All along my wife and I thought it was from the real estate agent. To our big surprise, it was from Scott & Devina Jackson. Never in our wildest dream we expected something from Mike Pero. We paid initial 10% deposit to the agent. We paid our lawyer. However, not a single penny for Scott for his service. So it didn't make sense to us to receive a beautiful welcome basket from them. If it wasn't for the little card in the basket which I opened 2-3 days later, we would've not known it came from them.

Scott & Devina, the fridge magnet you gave us will stay in our fridge for years to come.
