PREDATORY Company

Horribly predatory company that EXTREMELY takes advantage of people in need. Quoted a price $7,000-$10,000 more than a 4star vet charged me for the procedure. Her $2,000 surgery would’ve been $9,000-$12,000 at predatory MedVet. They really do not care about your pet and get defensive when you question why they are overcharging. The tech actually slammed a call button on the table and stormed out of the room when I said their prices didn’t seem fair. I’ve taken care of several farms and animals of others as well as my own and have never experienced such a horrible and rudely handled situation with a vet. Take your beloved pet ANYWHERE but here.

Please don’t trust your fur babies to…

Please don’t trust your fur babies to these people. I brought my cat in because she hadn’t eaten in 5 days. I was not allowed in the room while she was supposedly examined, which I specifically requested. I was told there was nothing wrong with her and they graciously suggested I give them hundreds of dollars more for further tests.
She did have something wrong in her mouth which stopped her from eating, subsequently became too weak for treatment and passed away.
They also had the nerve to send me a spam email asking how she was doing. My reply got a no-reply response.

Don't Pay Cash

I really liked the doctor, the morning person at the desk was very unpleasant and condescending. I won't ever go back.

I lost my dog due to poor treatment and false hope

**please get another opinion** I took my beloved 6yr old dog to medvet ER because she was sick for 3 days and wanted to get her in asap. She was generally a very healthy dog up to date on all immunizations and wellness checks. She had random bruising and stopped showing interest in food as well as she suddenly started to have bloody stool. They say she had an immune sickness and started her with blood transfusions. Of course we were desperate and agree to their plan as well as paid a very large bill in order to get her better. I feel that it was a trial that they did because within 2 days, she only got weaker and sicker and they told us that they would have to put her to sleep. when we refused to give up on her by putting her to sleep, they told us we would have to transfer her somewhere else since it was a Friday night and they claimed there would not be a certified doctor available to care for her until monday so referred us to another vet hospital. They also said they dont have the required meds needed from that point. We took her to another facility, they said they would try to save her and that they did have the platelets she needed. The next day, they called us and told us she was not doing well and would have to be put to sleep. My family and I are heartbroken because we feel like she did not get the proper care that was needed besides paying thousands within the 2 days she was under their care. We feel guilty that we put her in the wrong hands entrusting she would get the proper care, but unfortunately it was her shocking end. We should have done more research but we were desperate and rushed to the first ER we found. Sadly it looks like their are many of the same reviews. We cant change fate, but something just doesnt feel right with the whole process.

MedVet killed my dog

MedVet keeps removing my google review, but I believe potential clients need to be aware of my experience so they do not go through it.

Victoria Fisher overdosed my dog on fentanyl, despite a note in yellow on his chart to not give him any sedatives. He had a resuscitate order on his chart, and her and the director of the emergency room did not give him Narcan and simply watched him die. I was then called and told "your dog is dead". They refused to give me access to the charts, when I did get them, they had lied on the charts. A necropsy showed that he had no fatal conditions, that Victoria Fisher simply overdosed and killed him. Despite making an OVMA board complaint, nothing was done. The CEO of the company was contacted and blew me off as well. I paid 6k for them to kill my beloved companion.

For those of you who plan on going there, double check the qualifications of the doctor and make record of everything you do. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Never again!!!

I arrived at the Medvet near me around. 12:15 pm with my 2 year old cat in a carrier. The nearest Medvet to me is an hour drive and my cat who once ferrel does not travel well only making the situation somewhat more stressful listening to her cries as we navigate our way to the vet. It was a holiday, of course, or I would have taken her to her regular vet. My cat had all signs of developing a UTI and I didn’t want to wait to get her treated as she was urinating frequently and not just in her litter box! I signed my cat in and told the receptionist that I was going to return to my car so I could let her out of the crate to console her until they were ready for us. They called within 10 min and said they wanted to get her vitals. I thought, ok this may go quickly … WRONG! After spending 5 1/2 hrs there with my cat still in her carrier… I became irritated with how long this process was taking. I understand this is an ER for animals and they take the most critical first, but I feel there should be a doctor on staff that is tending to those less urgent as there were several of us waiting for hours upon hours to be seen. I also feel that allowing my cat, who most likely has a UTI, to remain in a carrier and not able to urinate for 5 1/2 hours certainly cannot be good for her. Finally, we get called back … waited another 20-25 min. For a doctor to come see us.. although a very nice doctor, a brief, very brief exam was done. She dismissed herself and said she would give me a few estimates for treatments and she would be back. She didn’t come back another girl did about another 20-25 min later… she started giving me the estimates and treatments the doctor recommended for my cat… the first was over $1,300 which involved an exam, a urinalysis, and X-ray and some antibiotics. I immediately said no… second option was for an exam, fluids, & intravenous antibiotics for over $600… third option, an exam, oral antibiotics and a pain reliever for $315! Well that’s the one I took. I’m sorry but that is ridiculous!! As I waited another 20-25 min for the tech to bring back the meds so I could get out of there and get this poor cat home, I noticed a poster that read their “pledge” to their clients…one that stood out to me was they “Respect your time” and two they “Respect your financial situation “. I am sorry, but I am going to have to disagree with that. I will never in a pinch go there again.

My experience taking my beloved cat to MedVet.

We took our cat, who had gotten into some chemicals to MedVet, and they wouldn't let us leave without him for an hour to take my papaw to work. Their wait time wasn't the best as well, we got there at close to 4 AM and we were there until close to 5:30 AM and we had gotten no results on what was wrong and before we were leaving, we asked to speak with the Dr. taking care of him and we didn't get to speak to her before they sent us out of the vet with my cat in a carrier. And their policy was awful because we couldn't leave for an hour and come back without taking him with. Their prices are also outrageous.

Beloved cat still passed away

Beloved cat still passed away. My cat was attacked by a dog on a weekend so our only choice was nearby Medvet. Se was close to dying but Dr. gave us the hope she could recover. We waited 4 hours for results of tests. He said the worst was torn ligament in back leg. We were advised to wait for surgeon to come in. One more day and after signing all paperwork surgeon said going through surgery would be difficult but there was a chance of her recovering or alternative was euthanasia. We opted to try surgery. Although for two days, I visited her, she never moved and didn't know me. The night before surgery we were called and told she developed an embolism in her lung. Her hope to live was very slim, so we opted for euthanasia to put her out of pain. Three nights and two days was 6,500. Note: staff was very nice but I feel Drs took advantage of our sadness to prolong her life to gain more money.

Absolutely the most overpriced vet in…

Absolutely the most overpriced vet in the state. A normal C section for a dog anywhere is around 2-2500. Not at MedVet on a Sunday. 4300.00. Then they want to bill you for more weeks after it is over. If Kamala Harris wants to start going after business's that price gouge people, this is the place to start. The female doctor was so condescending. Unless this is the last place to go on earth, I wouldn't step foot in the place again.

Way overpriced emergency vet services!

First and foremost, I commend the surgeon and staff who cared for my 9 month old dobie, Harley, at MedVet, Manassas, VA; they were very professional and provided Harley with great treatment and care. My 3star rating wasn't a knock on them but more of the overall expense to have a foreign obstruction removed from Harley's stomach and intestines. We were given an initial estimate of $6261, which could possibly go up to $7200-7400 if the surgeon had to remove a portion of her small intestines, which did not have to happen, thank God. I paid the required $6261 down payment but ended up having to pay an additional $1500 when I picked Harley up, which was a bit confusing at first since the cashier initially told me I owed $1000. When I asked what the additional $1000 was for she had a nurse explain the charges to me, which turned out to be for the overnight care, which one would have logically expected to be included in the initial estimate since they knew they would have to keep her overnight for observation, a tube inserted into the stomach to help with drainage, meds, and so forth, but she did say she could at least remove $300 of the additional charges, which I was grateful for. However, when I went to pay I was told that I owed $1500?! I naturally inquired how we got to $1500 when I was told $1000 initially and then told that they would subtract $300; I was thinking $700 to close out my tab. Apparently, when the cashier pulled up my account the additional overnight charges hadn't been applied yet, which was why she initially told me I owed $1000. So all and all, the treatment cost me $7700...almost 4X what it would have probably cost me if I could have had my primary vet perform the surgery, given that my primary veterinarian quoted me $1500 if they performed the surgery (we thought surgery wouldn't be necessary because the multiple X-rays indicated things were moving in the right direction, which ultimately turned out not to be the case). Anyway, this is the reason for the 3 star rating. They actually have a picture of their promise to their patients hanging on the walls of their waiting rooms...one of the promises of which states, "We will respect the financial situation of our patients." Well, I'm sorry, but giving an estimate with a $1500 wiggle room and charging 4X what the average veterinary practice would charge doesn't show much respect or concern for their patients' financial situation; it seems more like taking advantage of after hours and weekends, and pet owners not having viable options for treatment, in my personal opinion. And their astronomical prices hits like a ton of bricks and in some, probably a lot, of cases, tends to unnecessarily create financial hardships. In the very least, it creates animosity and distrust of the emergency veterinary practice. Thank God I was smart enough to purchase pet insurance, which hopefully covers 80% of the mentioned costs.
