I went to this pub for a meal & during the meal I had a choking incident & none of the staff helped during this. My wife tried to help by slapping my back to try to dislodge the blockage to no avail then I ran outside & managed to cough the piece of food up while being sick at the same time. Then a member of staff came out to me to offer me a glass of water which I declined. My worry is this could happen again with even worse results.

9th April myself friend husband went to Redsails in Hull whilst having our meal my husband began chocking I tried to dislodge what what stuck in his throat he began panicking as any one would managed to go outside the pub n coughing which eventually he was able to remove the food by vomiting Nobody from the staff came to his assistance only after the fact. A waitress asked me if he was chocking properly told her yes and nobody came to help I have emailed and still not had a satisfactory outcome from this
Food is good
Food is good. Great scones! Started charging to replace mash potatoes and spinach with vegetables. Not just $1.00 but $12.00. As a result we will rarely dine there any more. Seems a bit short sighted to squabble about a few vegetables when we spend $80 per visit. We used to go 2 to 3 times a month. That's $160 to $240 a month they will no longer be getting all over broccoli. If you want Chicken and vegetables go to Olive Garden or Islands. Olive Garden offers it with a salad and bread as well.

overpriced under staffed and the toilets are horrendous.. if health and safety were made aware of the conditions im sure they would close it thats how bad it is made many complaints on deaf ears.. the only reason they wont sort it ,its because the pub has got such a good revenue turnover
caraway pub/restaurant
As a local person I have not been to the Caraway pub for some time, due poor quality food 12 months ago, but was invited for lunch last Monday 30th, We ordered our 4 meals which were delivered to our table 45 minutes later (well done) after complaining about the wait as there was very few other people in the pub, I was told that the delay was due to a new chef being trained. As a regular to Marstons I would recommend anyone wanting a decent meal without a long wait to try the Tanerdy pub/restaurant near the hospital ( it often has 30% off if you sign up to Marstons)
So looks like no improvement at the Caraway shame as it’s near for us.
Terrible experience on Mother's Day
Terrible experience on Mother's Day, we were still eating but we were asked to leave to make way for another party. Can you imagine the humiliation when the other party were glaring over at us and the waiting staff standing beside us making us feel uncomfortable. Didn't even have time to finish our drinks. Table was booked for 2 hours but we were asked to leave after 1 hour 30 minutes. They had overbooked & somehow this was our party's problem to resolve.
We complained but, if you disagree with their response, they ignore you. Both the venue & Head Office!
Avoid at all costs.
The Roebuck at Market Harborough
The Roebuck at Market Harborough. An appalling incident with The General Manager at The Roebuck took place when we met up with family and friends for lunch on Mothers day. We had a long drive and arrived a little early. A member in our party needed to use the toilet. Upon going inside the Manager said toilets were for customers only and he said you expect to ask before just walking in! We cancelled our visit and went elsewhere. Until an apology our family or friends will not be using Marston's again !

Ewan and Sarah are excellent in the way they lead the team at the 2 watermills and the food and drink are excellent for the price the experience is always good and nothing is to much trouble thoroughly recommend going there.
Wrong menu for our pub
Wrong menu for our pub. You have managed to empty our pub in a few weeks. People refusing to pay and just walking out. We have a nice new manager but he can’t make it pay with inferia food.
The reviews say it all!
Our local is the Five Bridges in Sheppey. It’s terrible. How it’s still open I’ll never know.
Ever since this establishment has opened, it has had more management changes than it’s actually served hot food. Every time a new manager pops up on social media promising something better we give this place another shot. It’s been mixed - sometimes okay, most times terrible. The latest iteration of management and hospitality is abysmal.
There is no consistency with meals. Sometimes they are fine, other times they come out cold or incorrect. You could be waiting for hours for food or it could come quickly. You may get what you’ve ordered before or you may get something random.
You can’t complain though because the manager will act like you’ve just asked for it to be served on a silver platter by your own personal butler instead of just putting it right for you!
Myself and my family are done with this inconsistent mess of an establishment, regardless of the latest plea to “try us again”.
And yes, this is a real review before they attempt to pretend it’s not, I’ve visited this place for years (as my kids really enjoy the outside area and not many places around here offer somewhere for kids to play and eat) and to be honest I am just done with it.
Bad customer service
Bad customer service. Food was OK but expensive for what it was. I think we won't be visiting again for a while, if ever.
Waterloo Cross at Uffculme
Visited the Waterloo Cross at Uffculme, Devon on my way to S/Molton to enquire about a recent promotion. Although they were not sure if they could help, they went out of their way to find the information I needed. Extremely satisfied with the result from very friendly and accommodating staff. Had no time to eat there on this occasion, but I have in the past and will certainly do so next time.
If you’re a fan of Fawlty Towers then…
If you’re a fan of Fawlty Towers then this is the place for you. Obnoxious, rude and incompetent management and no response to complaints until pressured. After expressing my concerns through their complaint system twice, I eventually had to contact the area manager to express my dissatisfaction. Couldn’t even have a coffee with my breakfast as and I quote ‘ the machine is clogged up with milk!”
Although a budget hotel I underestimated how bad it would be.
I will never stay at a Marstons hotel again or set foot in one of their pubs.
Avoid unless you really want the full Fawlty Towers experience.
Crazy drink prices
Went to the oak apple , Worcester 14-2-26 . The drink prices were ridiculous ! Just a standard pint of Carling lager £5.20 that's crazy . No wonder the pub was empty!
The food was just ok nothing brilliant and the place was cold .
Won't be returning anytime soon
Visited Marston’s in Western Super…
Visited Marston’s in Western Super mare. Wasn’t busy, waitress spoke to the couple next to me the whole time I was ordering. Got one meal incorrect. We had Philly cheese steak sandwich. Was the worst meal I have ever had. Steak was meant to be medium rare, came well done, 3 pieces of steak two very chewy, cold, no onions, Philly cheese cold and undercooked, about 5 chips on the plate. Massive disappointment, will never eat here again. Looked and tasted awful. Daughters meal wrong so she ended up eating on her own. Staff friendly, worst place I’ve ever eaten.
Beware of Marston's gratuity scam
Beware of Marston's gratuity scam. They'll ask you to tap the card machine twice. They've never asked me to tap it twice before so I just thought it hadn't taken the first time. I hadn't got my glasses when I was at the bar and I was given a receipt, which (my fault) I only checked when I got home. He did tell me how much the meals were with drinks, £25.83, and I thought that sounded about right for what we had. When I got home the wife said the receipt was for £31.00. An item appeared showing a gratuity of £5.17. I wouldn't mind but a bit of warning wouldn't go amiss. Sorry, Marston's, but we won't be visiting the Spread Eagle at Gailey again. Won't miss the beer, though.
Totally greedy badly managed pubs
Totally greedy badly managed pubs . Selection of beers rubbish and over priced . Customer service is the worst in the world . Every marstons pub I've visited all over the country the tenants aren't happy with the brewery. Awful awfully bad company
Think 1 star is being overly generous
Think 1 star is being overly generous. My experience is of the Queen of Hearts in Runcorn, this review is a criticism of Marstons, NOT the pub. The staff at the pub are overworked, understaffed and generally excellent at what they are able to do within the constraints of working for Marstons.
They have just released a new menu with an increase in price of approx £1.50 per meal, the prices are well in excess of their rivals in the area, for a same standard meal. Drinks prices increase at least 4 times per year, putting their prices well beyond any other pubs locally. Prices are set at around about city centre levels, for a pub, on a council estate.
The corporate greed from this company is second to none. It's gone from being a busy, vibrant pub, to an empty shell, no entertainment barely, and for a business pricing themselves out of the market, they don't appear to want to invest in refurbishing the pub, to reflect the aspirations their ridiculous prices suggest.
Since opening the pub has deteriorated year on year, people won't go in because of the prices. Marstons have cut staff hours considerably - we visited a few weeks ago and there was one kitchen staff member and one bar staff on shift, run off their feet, yet Marston's think it's justifiable to charge £6-£7 a pint for the pleasure of poor, stretched service.
Marston's, hang your heads in shame, you're riddled with corporate greed, and completely negligent of your staff and your customers. As long as it lines the big brass pockets though eh! Pathetic.
The clock warehouse shardlow
The prices are wild-not enough staff on, one on the bar took 20 mins to take our drinks order, we had to wait to be seated, we pre booked on line but the table wasn’t ready the lady who seated us left us standing around for 15 mins they then cleaned a table and showed us to it (it was super busy but as stated above not enough staff, one on the bar, one arranging tables) once seated the lady took our order quickly 2 in our party wanted chicken and chorizo flatbreads, which were priced at £17.49 each (for a flatbread that’s wild and more expensive that the Malbec pie🤷🏻♀️) we were informed chef hadn’t prepared the chicken ones but we could have halloumi which were priced the same while waiting for our food the ceiling above us started to crumble, this is an OLD OLD venue besides a canal with beams etc it’s quite quaint and beautifully laid out some of the ceiling bits landed in our glasses of wine (£26 for Pinot blush) the waitress was excellent at this stage apologised moved our table and replaced the wine! The food arrived beautifully presented, but the chips were cold 🥶 the flat bread was lovely but it should be for £17.49 sadly the prices and lack of staff means we won’t visit again, beautiful pub just massively overpriced and the lack of staff made it difficult to score them higher
