It used to be fantastic, but now I'd advise everyone to avoid like the plague. Since the merge with backstage/star now - its not user friendly and they take your money and run. Impossible to get a response from the company. The job matches are ridiculous too...... Estonian folk dancer, male acrobat......I'm a voice over artist. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Easy to use and set up but nigh on impossible to book jobs
Have had responses from only unpaid student work which is not great given it is a pay-to-subscribe site.
Cannot see if/when people even view applications

Just coming up to my 5th membership anniversary.
I got my first acting and voice jobs here but now simply can't justify spending any money at all to stay a member.
It used to be a helpful UK based environment (we didn't have many) but no part of it works since Backstage took over.
All the job alerts are for things that
- have already expired,
- have never been part of my profile and/or
- turn up in the middle of my night time (completely managed in an incompatible time zone I assume).
Disgraceful that Backstage have trashed so many casting platforms this way - here and in the US according to the reviews.

It is evident to me that this company has entirely lost control of its database. They are unable to match jobs with applicants. They can't even provide evidence that applications have been passed on to employers. Recently I have been receiving notifications for jobs that are past their shooting dates (and therefore closed to applicants).

I have cancelled my subscription renewal. If the company has any integrity they should be proactively offering refunds of any fees relating to the past 6 months (at least).

Don't pay them a single penny until their performance issues have been resolved. Even then, proceed with utmost caution.

Used to be amazing now utter POOP! I used to rave about it. I've just cancelled. Don't waste your money. Hopefully someone will come up with an alternative soon.

This was such a good site, now sadly a shadow of its former self.

Mandy used to have a good variety of jobs with decent pay back when it was CCP, now it's been taken over by Backstage, the rates have been declining and the functionality of the website has been diminished. Customer services do not listen to members' concerns, and the rapidly declining rates just contribute to a race to the bottom in this already wildly unregulated industry. Not a place for serious professionals anymore.

Has gone massively downhill since the Backstage takeover (check out the Backstage trustpilot for more insight). Most of the useful features have been removed, job postings are few and far between as employers have migrated to better sites (ones with vetted talent so they don't have to sift through 300+ auditions, apparently) and those jobs that do appear are almost universally underpaid (Mandy only stipulate that postings are minimum living wage so are not interested in the many commercially exploitative postings) Communication is dire - email only, and when they do respond it's a copy paste email that does not address issues raised in any meaningful way. Email alerts appear a day or two too late, you can no longer see if your application has been viewed so you're just lobbing stuff into the void... I could go on. No longer worth the fee - you're better off spending that budget elsewhere. I acknowledge it might be useful if you're a beginner looking for audition experience, but I still think there are better competitors for that.

It is so sad that Mandy is not what it used to be. There is such a poor selection of jobs - virtually no theatre and very little film work. If you want to be a host/hostess, quiz-master, performing arts teacher/ assistant, or get some experience in a student film, it might be alright for you.

So if Mandy and StarNow have deteriorated so much that there not worth using because of back stage which is the last of the top three.

What casting website is worth using?

Thoroughly dissapointing. Mandy, since its take over from Backstage, has rapidly deteriorated.

It is now a withering husk of what it once was. As a result I have cancelled my membership sadly, after 8 years of wonderful opportunities.

Some of the key reasons being;

Terrible quality of opportunities.
Awful customer service.
Utter dismantling of sense of community.

Thank you for all the wonderful castings you brought us, before you suffered from terminal stage 4 Backstageitus.

I joke, to not weep. It is undeniably poor of Backstage to destroy 2 high quality platforms of opportunity (Starnow aswell). Thanks for making a tough industry to crack even tougher, Backstage.

really bad, the site is running into the ground.

This company was originally Casting Call Pro (CCP) and, for the most part, offered good, low to middling paid jobs. Since the name change it started going downhill and now that it's been taken over by the American conglomerate, Backstage, has deteriorated beyond awful. The jobs are extremely low paid. This can be acceptable if for a student film, but for TV ads and legit theatre/TV work, the pay is abysmal. I was lucky to be one of the first 500 (I think that was the number) offered free life-time membership when the site first set up as CCP. If I had to pay, I would. not bother. It's not cost-effective for most people and a lot of those people are leaving in droves. See the Forum for that. How this has got 4 stars I've no idea and as for 5 stars - I can't guess at the benchmark.
Oh, and as for the date of experience, there is no way of saying that this 'issue' has been ongoing for at least a year.

Fab for looking for theatre industry jobs, not only to apply for but to also get a sense of what shows are being produced and what requirements are generally needed for similar roles. The site is easy to use.
Occasionally you get duplicate emails from them and emails that aren't relevant to you.

I like to see all the different jobs posted on the jobs page, gives me a good insight into what job roles are beneficial to me.

The Mandy Network is a really great way to increase your acting career and experiences. I've gotten roles to add for.my acting reels and step up in the film industry. Really great way to enter the acting world from every aspect.

There is nothing you can do with the free account and the job ads are not exclusive to Mandy.

Highly recommended platform for actors/extras and voice over artists , fantastic staff and plenty of opportunities for those looking to gain work and experience in the industry.

There are a lot of job postings which helps get access and find projects to submit your applications to, however it's usually highly competitive jobs so there's a low chance of actually getting hired on projects.

I am Really happy with the Mandy platform, it is easy to use, uploading is incredibly intuitive and the platform is cool and helps stand out.
