Overall I am very happy with my experience with makersvalley. They are extremely helpful for new designers and working with them has improved my skills. The extra layer of QC, handling all the shipping/customs logistics, answering questions/making suggestions. They are great with sourcing what you need to make your projects come to life and have a great directory of factories to work with.

The only downside is the flow of communication can take longer than you might expect because you communicate everything via your account manager and not the factory themselves. This can add up to a lot of days just waiting to hear back from each other.
That’s not to say the account managers are slow or do a poor job. I think it just comes with the territory of a business model like this.

If you want true made in Italy clothing but need guidance on navigating that space - or you’re looking for a service to manage your projects/supply chains I highly recommend Makersvalley. Just keep in mind you may need to increase your timelines to deal with delays in communication.

I have been with MV for over a year. At the beginning I had high hopes for them and had a lot of patience to adjust to their working tactics. As things were constantly taking longer and the quotes were getting higher, but no results were produced, I started to be suspicious of their capability. My fears became reality and after spending thousand of $$$, I had 2 unusable prototypes. In order to implement simple revisions that were addressed in my tech pack like different buttons, wider staps, etc I was told to pay more than my original bit for a production sample. The deadline were absolutely not met and excuses were given just so I can pay for the upcoming month for my membership. Their technique is to drain you with time so you keep paying for your monthly fees. Even in the month of August when the factory shut down for vacations, I still had to pay and was told they worked on my items. I only had 1 item and approved it in July to get it into production, a month and a half later, I still don't even have a quote for it. They had an audacity to tell me that 3 responses to my emails to them asking for a quote (and until now not getting it) was the work that they did and for what I have to pay! I seriously never heard of something even close to this. The customer service is a pure rip-off with bogus excuses not to make your product while you pay for it. I had work with other manufacturer before and never had any of these ridiculous problems. I reconnected with other manufactures and finally am getting a professional service. I count MV as my business lost and don't even have any hopes that they can turn my 1 item into production at this point. So unfortunately, I have to completely redo everything and pay for it again somewhere else to actually have it done. The lost is not just the money but time and my production for the brand that had a deadline.
I strongly recommend you find a different place to make your stuff and save yourself from money lost, frustrations and delays.

So far my experience with makers valley has been really great and exactly as advertised. They help you every step, communicating between you and factories and it makes the process of sampling and production so much easier to manage. I’ve ordered my second round of samples and am hoping to continue to use makers valley in the future. I’m curious if they’ll branch in to other high end manufacturing areas like Japan?

It doesn’t seem that we will continue working with you all I don’t really think you all are Abel to find Italian manufacturing I’m going to try once more though .. but everything just takes so long

Probably one of the best platforms out there. Everything works smoothly in terms communication, the website is really straight forward and clean.

The manufacturers in the network are of the highest quality too and I have no complaints regarding MakersValley.

I have to thank them not only for their sustainable views on fabrics but also for having made my dreams come true in terms of having a luxury brand with clothes made in Italy.

An updated review, almost 1 year in, and I’ve had a total of two production orders (took a big pause in production in between). Their quality is really good, though they do need some improvements in certain areas.

For the most part their quality of other things are great. Please note that they are essentially just the “middle-ground” between you and Italian factories. You will still have headaches of dealing with traditional factories, and in some cases, will be having more headaches due to the fact you are only communicating with the middle-person. However, their customer service is good and it all may depend on how clear you are in delivery (tech-pack, clear explanations).

– The print of the care labels of my production order did not come out really good. This is more telling of the machinery the factory used and it’s capability. As someone who is meticulous about the small details, and I assume all fashion brand owners are as well, this was a big turn-off. I would expect a brand that promotes "High-end" is truly high-end in every aspect.

All in all, I think they’re really great and only (hopefully) getting better. I hope to return again for another production order in the near future.

I really like MakersValley. I appreciate it’s platform and how it bridges the gap between designers and manufacturers. However, I was recently informed that MakersValley no longer accepts sketches as a base for prototype development but only tech packs. Some designers/creators have not had formal training but just possess passion. They may not know what a tech pack is. Of course, research can be done, and eventually it can be done. But another reason I like MakersValley is because it eliminates an obstacle between the designer and manufacturer. I think requiring a formal tech pack creates an obstacle. A detailed sketch that gets the point across is not enough?
