Our Experience at Loews Hollywood Hotel

On the first day of our arrival at the hotel, they did not have the rooms we had booked. However, this was resolved by providing us with a different room.

On the second day, upon returning from the beach, we noticed that our room smelled strongly of marijuana. Smoking was prohibited in the hotel. We went over to our neighbor’s door and could smell the odor coming from their room as well. We entered our room and called the reception. They sent a staff member who assured us that we would not be held responsible, which seemed odd. He then mentioned that he could find another room for us and left, promising to return. However, we never heard from him again.

On the third day, I had $300 placed behind our television, with my sunglasses on top to keep them flat. After spending the day at Disneyland, we returned to find the money missing. I immediately searched the area to see if the money had fallen, but it was completely gone. I am convinced that it was stolen. Noticing that housekeeping had been in our room, I am certain they took the money. I called the reception to report the incident. Later, they informed us that the cleaning staff had seen the money but did not take it. We know this is a lie, and such experiences should not occur at any hotel. DO NOT COME TO THIS HOTEL.

Extremely nice hotel, very nice staff members. Overall a very nice hotel.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL IF YOU DONT WANT YOUR BOOKING DELETED AND BE LEFT STRANDED!!!

On Sept 18th 2022, I made a three night booking at this property through Webjet.com.au (A highly rated Australian booking site). I had an email confirmation and the hotel voucher. I also contacted the hotel websites online chat on March 21st 2023 to confirm the booking and the Loews online team member confirmed an active reservation for April 12th.

So, fast forward to Wednesday April 12, myself, my husband and my 8 year old daughter arrive at Loews Hollywood Hotel to check in. The lady asks for my ID. She checks the system and asks if it could be under any other name. She informs me they cannot find any booking. I was then taken over to speak with Rodrigo Rigor, the Front Office Manager who stated that there was no booking and there was nothing he could do as they were fully booked for the night and he had 6 more guests coming in with no place to put them and then would need to be offloaded to another hotel.

I explained to Rodrigo that I had a confirmed hotel reservation in front of me (which I showed him) and that I also had the booking confirmed through the online chat of the website to which he offered the following responses:
1) Webjet is a scam website
2) Loews do not have an account with Webjet
3) The chat was not at their hotel and the person I was speaking to does not work for them and alluded that it was also a scam.

He basically then said he could perhaps help us secure another hotel but it would be at our expense. I was appalled at this as I had a CONFIRMED booking but I was now out of pocket as I would need to pay a higher, last minute rate. He managed to call his "friend" at the Roosevelt Hotel who just so happened to be in the Loews Foyer who secured us a room for the three nights. We only accepted this as it was 6:30pm at night and my daughter was not handling the stressful situation she had found herself in. This change in hotel cost us an additional $455 USD in hotel charges and uber fares because of the unethical and disgraceful actions of the management at Loews Hollywood Hotel.

We have since returned home and I have contacted Webjet to find out their side of the story and they have confirmed there WAS a CONFIRMED booking, the reservation was sent to the Loews Hollywood Hotel by Expedia and excepted by Loews, which is a partner of Webjet. I have a copy of the email that Webjet sent to the hotel!!

Given all the above evidence, it seems like the Front Office Manager, Mr Rodrigo Rigor oversold his hotel and removed our reservation since we were due to pay at the hotel and he could sell the three nights for A LOT MORE than what we reserved it for 7 months prior and then proceeded to try and tell me that I had been scammed and you have no account with the third party side I booked it through. Seems strange if you have no account with Webjet then why can I still book the Loews Hollywood Hotel on this site today?

I contacted Loews directly before posting this review, yet they have ignored my email. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE STRANDED AND BE TRYING TO BOOK ANOTHER HOTEL LAST MINUTE!!!

Location is perfect for anyone wanting a Hollywood base for exploring. We opted for a city view room and weren’t disappointed, the view at night and during the day was amazing! Rooms are modern and really clean. Staff were great and we managed to check in earlier than the started time once we’d dropped our bags off. Hotel has great facilities and you can even access the hotel through the Hollywood and Highland shopping area.
