To evaluate the service fairly, I believe it is important to divide the experience into different stages:

Purchasing process – María

Excellent service. Very efficient, responsive, and professional. We exchanged many emails reviewing options and changes, and she always replied quickly and clearly. This part of the experience was very positive.

After-sales service – Rose

Unfortunately, this is where the problems started. I detected an invoicing error of over USD 9,000. After several days, I was told it was an “administrative error” and that I still had to pay it. We were 15 people with flights already issued and only two months away from departure, so I had no real alternative. I paid to avoid disappointing my grandchildren and because it was impossible to restart the process with another provider so close to the trip.

I requested a phone number for emergencies, which was provided. I had to call it three times due to critical situations:

On arrival to Kilimanjaro, no one was waiting for us at the airport.

On departure from Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar, we did not have our flight tickets and were not allowed to enter the airport. The tickets had been emailed late the night before, without any call or message to alert me. We almost missed the flight and were saved only by our guide.

On arrival in Zanzibar, once again, no one was waiting for us.

Only the first call was answered. In the other two critical situations, there was no response and no return calls.

Additionally, I suffered an accident on the second day of the trip and had to be treated at Karatu Hospital. Our guide handled everything excellently, but no one from the agency ever contacted me to check on my condition.

Guides and vehicles

Outstanding. David, Yusuf, and Muita, together with their assistants Jacob and Kelvin, were highly professional, kind, and attentive. They were the highlight of the trip.

Conclusion

Once the contract was signed, customer service declined dramatically. This was very disappointing, especially when traveling with children and after paying more than USD 80,000. Surprisingly, no one from the agency contacted us afterward to ask about our experience. Overall, the lack of concern for the client was far from the image that led me to choose this company.

My husband and I went on a 9 day safari with Lion King for our honeymoon and we LOVED it. Lion King was responsive and great to communicate with from the very beginning. They answered all our questions and tailored the trip to what we were looking for, despite us changing direction ourselves a couple of times. We wanted an experienced, locally-based company (northern Tanzania) and one that is transparent about how things operate, all of which they are. Their prices were fair and in-line with the services we received, which was a spectacular safari in a private vehicle to 4 different national parks, focused on what we wanted to do and see.

Our guide, Ozzy, was phenomenal and we could tell how experienced and professional he was from the start, and quickly learned how patient he was as well, as we spent plenty of stops looking up random birds and other creatures that other tourists likely don't care as much about. We saw a truly stunning number of unique animal species throughout our trip (over 100) and many individuals of quite of few of those species. We were lucky enough to see the big 5 (most of them many times), and though a lot of that is just luck and good timing, we were grateful for Ozzy's experience and communication which allowed us to track down where some animals happened to be at that time. We were also excited to see whatever we could, even if it was the "less glamorous" safari creatures, which was a great part of our experience and one that Ozzy helped back up as well by pointing out anything and everything as he picked up on what we were intrigued by.

Our safari vehicle was wonderful, kept miraculously clean by Ozzy despite all our dusty shoes and such, and very comfortable and spacious for the two of us. It was perfect for us to move around in and get all the photos we wanted, which was also super important to us. By the time we were done with our safari, we had seen so many other companies' vehicles broken down, yet I still had no doubts whatsoever of our Lion King vehicle or Ozzy's driving. We felt safe, taken care of, and confident in all aspects of our safari, really without a doubt.

We went with what Lion King calls "mid-range" accommodations (which they arranged for us) and all of them exceeded our expectations, especially being out in the bush. Staff at all the locations were wonderful and the food was excellent, including the hot lunches we got out in the parks. They handled everything for us, including the timing and permits to get into the parks. We had great experiences all the places we went, and while we did find the migration after they had completed most of their river crossings, it was great because there weren't many big crowds and we didn't have to fight groups or lines to see the things we wanted to. In fact, we had front row seats for the most part, which we felt was a great perk for going at the time we did, still had beautiful weather, and it allowed us to see SO many things.

Overall, we had such a spectacular time on this trip, as our first time to Tanzania and to the continent, and it was largely due to such a great tour company, tour guide, and all the amazing things they helped us see and experience, and we would highly recommend both Ozzy and Lion King Adventures to anyone looking for a Tanzania safari!

We travelled to Tanzania in October 2025 with our family (2 adults and 2 kids, aged 9, 13 and 16). We had a very lovely time with our guide Joseph, who was absolutely great. Perfect execution of our tour, excellent knowledge of the animals and generally good fun. Also the density of animals was extremely high compared so most safaris we had done before in other African countries. Thank you, Joseph and Lion King Adventures.

I would recommend only doing a classical safari with Lion King Adventures but don't include a "beach" part.
Their expertise is for actual safaris (they have great guides) but if you go to Zanzibar they will just send you to a big resort and make their margins off of you.

We had a wonderful trip! The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-located, and the staff were very friendly. Our guide Leonard was excellent—knowledgeable, helpful, and always attentive to our needs. The itinerary was well-organized, and everything went smoothly. We’re very satisfied with the arrangements and would definitely recommend this tour.”

We had the most incredible honeymoon with Lion King Safari in Tanzania – everything was perfectly organized, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations.

A special shoutout to our amazing guide, Geofrey, who truly made the trip unforgettable. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible, and spending time with him was a real highlight of our safari. Thanks to Geofrey, we were lucky enough to see the Big Five and so many other incredible animals – every day felt like a dream.

We can’t recommend Geofrey and Lion King Safari highly enough to anyone considering a safari. We’ll definitely be telling our friends and family to travel with them – and we hope to be back again for another adventure someday!

Right from the start Lion King were responsive and professional. I contacted a few other safari companies but Lion King were the ones that made me feel like they would give us the best safari. They listened to what we wanted from our safari and came up with initial proposal. We wanted to make a few changes and our sales agent Nickson Anderson duly responded with suggestions for the tweaks we wanted to make.

Once the safari was decided on we liaised with Nickson Obedi, part of the logistics team, who booked the accommodation and made sure we knew all the logistical details to make our safari go smoothly. Before we travelled any questions we had were quickly responded to and they gave us all the information we needed re visas, vaccinations, where we would be picked up and when etc, to make sure we knew what we needed to do and where we needed to be.

For our 5 night luxury safari Enock was our safari guide. Enock was an excellent guide with an engaging smile and relaxed nature. It was great to learn from him and he was always happy to knowledgably answer our questions. My husband is a keen photographer and Enock always managed to get us into a good position for photos and patiently waited for us to get the shots we wanted.

Enock went out of his way to make sure we got to see everything we wanted to. We saw Leopards, Cheetahs, lots of Lions, Elephants, Black Rhinos, Hippos, Giraffes, Zebras and Wilderbeast on migration and so much more.

We visited Lake Manyara, Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengetti National Park and stayed in 3 different accommodations. The accommodation that stood out for us was Nyota luxury camp. From the warm welcome to the luxury tent with a terrace from which you could see giraffes amble past, this camp was fabulous. We would have loved to have stayed longer than 3 nights here.

Everyone in Lion King that we dealt with did an excellent job of giving us a safari to remember. I would thoroughly recommend using them.

From booking to execution of the tour, our trip was seamless and amazing. Everyone we talked to and worked with was helpful and our guide Freddy was incredible.

The company provided excellent service that exceeded my expectations.

This was our fourth safari in Africa, and we saw more wildlife on this trip than on any of the earlier ones.
Everything was well organized, our driver and guide, Joseph, was excellent - good company, knowledgable, and able to take us to the best places for animal viewing. All of the accommodation was first rate. Lion King is well established in Tanzania - probably a third of all of the vehicles on the road were affiliated with this company. We highly recommend this company.

Recently returned from a magnificent experience with Lion King Adventures. My wife and I did the 5 day northern safari itinerary which included Ngorogoro, Tarangire and Serengeti. We were met at the Arusha airport and taken to the beautiful Gran Melia Hotel where we spent the night. Our guide, Khalifa Shabani, met us the next morning and off we went in his Toyota Land Cruiser. Suffice it to say that Khalifa was an absolute delight. With his 10 years experience and his fluency in Swahili, English and French he was a master tour guide. No matter what subject we brought up he was invariably full of information. The depth of his knowledge was incredible. He was an excellent driver and conservative in his decision-making which is important because you spend a lot of time getting to venues on bone-jarring dirt roads with a lot of vehicle passing involved. On occasion the dust was so thick that whiteout conditions prevailed and having a conservative driver was comforting. Khalifa saw to it that we had a memorable and educational safari and would highly recommend him to anyone considering a similar adventure. Lion King Adventures were terrific about keeping us apprised of all trip details and requirements and we couldn't find fault with any aspect of the trip. Delivery back to the airport was flawless and we were actually somewhat sad to say goodbye. Fairly close to the perfect safari experience!

Our African safari with Lion King Adventures was an absolute dream come true! Standing with Pendo who booked the trip, was very patient and came up with several different options to make sure it met our desired length of stay and level of accommodations. From the moment we arrived in Tanzania, our honeymoon felt incredibly special thanks to the choice of lodges that exuded luxury and charm. We are Angie (Puerto Rico) and Antonio (Spain) we live in the United States. We did an exhaustive research on the best safari companies in Tanzania for our vacation, finally we decided for Lion King Adventures and we couldn’t be happier with our decision. The experience was amazing!! They are very profesional and always working to make the experience as your personal choice. They pick you up at the airport, and since the first minute they care of every detail. We made the private safari and we felt spoiled 24 hours with Lion King. The transportation, the hotels, the game drives, everything was amazing, but our guide Osi ( Oswaldo ) made the difference !! He worked very hard and with all the passion of someone who loves his work to give us the best experience. we had the best encounters with the BIG FIVES, we saw a dozen Lions, dozens of elephants and giraffes, buffalos, hippos, and the most difficult: 3 leopards, and a couple of cheetahs right next to us. This Osi is amazing ! He can see an animal from kilometers. Always with a smile, making us smile every minute , extremely profesional and friendly. We could not have had this experience without him. What a great person and what a profesional and experienced guide ! We made a good friend and we’ll keep him in our hearts. We are planing to go back next year and we will definitely book our safari again with Lion King Adventure.100% recommended. Customer service is A+ The park it’s clean and beautiful but the reason of my 4 stars is because The park needs more trees, those poor animals are most of the time out there under 100 degrees.
Someone need to check out that!

We had an amazing one week trip
We arrived to Kilimanjaro airport, where our guide picked up us, then went to Lake Manyara at Maramboi, then went to Serengeti passing by Ngorongoro conservation area and spent 3 nights there at KubuKubu. We did flying safari with balloon which was amazing as well, and then spent two nights at Kilimamoja
Everything was well organised, and we saw so many animals
James the owner is passionate about his job and Halifa our guide was great and spoke perfectly French, English, and Swahili
He was good to find the animals, was a good driver and was able to answer all of our questions perfectly and was super patient
We were very happy and a an amazing time
Also our itinerary was perfect and the lodges were wonderful
Nothing wrong to say, you can only be happy by choosing them
We went there end of April during rain season but no problem about that and no rain at all !
And they are also very respectful about nature 🙏🏼👍🏼

My safari with Lion King was the safari I've always dreamed of going on. It far exceeded expectations in every sense. There is not a single thing I can complain about. It was perfect. Lion King took care of everything for us. We went during the off-season and it felt like we had the Serengeti and Ngorongoro to ourselves with the animals. We thought we were going to get stuck in the rain, but it only rained briefly on one day and it was honestly a surreal way to experience it. Do not be scared of a little rain on your safari! We were happy to trade a little rain for not spending tons of time behind other safari vehicles.

The accommodations that Lion King booked were incredible: beautiful views and amenities and since it was the off-season, we had the lodges to ourselves as well. It felt like a completely private trip. I highly recommend going during early December, it was a truly magical experience.

Our Lion King guide was very knowledgeable and fun to be around. He went above and beyond in every way. He knew so much about both the Serengeti and Ngorongoro and was able to help us find the elusive leopard up close, which was the highlight of the trip for me. He was fun to be around and went above and beyond in every way to make us feel comfortable and to find the hard-to-spot animals.Spend the extra dollars with Lion King, you will not regret it.

My daughter and I just completed a fantastic 9-day safari to Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks. We chose Lion King because, among the 5 tour operators we contacted, Lion King was the one which was the most responsive to our interests and budget and consistently responded to us more quickly and fully than the other companies.

However, what made our safari so spectacular were the individuals who accompanied us: our driver & guide, Mwita, and our chef, Alute.

Mwita, the son of a Serengeti park ranger, was born and raised in Serengeti and has been guiding safaris for ten years. As a result, he has an uncanny ability to spot animals and anticipate opportunities to see them in action. When all the vehicles in the park seemed to be going in one direction, Mwita often took us in another. As a result, we often saw nature in action-- many times all by ourselves.

For example, thanks to Mwita, we watched a leopard descend from a tree, stalk and kill a gazelle and drag it back up into the tree for a leisurely meal; three lionesses hunt together to corner and kill a warthog; two lions mating, while a third stood guard; a crocodile grab a wildebeest from a riverbank and drag it into the water for a community feast by some 25 or more waiting crocodiles; a cheetah dining on fresh gazelle, as vultures waited their turn and then were frightened away by two hyenas, which bolted into their midst and then ran off with the carcass. Mwita also saw to it that we were in the right place at the right time to see black rhinos in Ngorongoro Crater on a day when very few other visitors did. He also adjusted our program on the fly to make sure we saw the animals and habitats we most wanted to see. His instincts, judgement and suggestions were spot on!

Our chef, Alute, who cooked for us for five nights (four nights we camped out in Serengeti and an additional night at a tented lodge near Lake Manyara), also did a magnificent job. Our breakfasts and dinners were tasty, wholesome and varied, and they appealed to me (a vegetarian) and my daughter (an omnivore). The lunch boxes that Alute packed for us were much better than those we received at various tented lodges where we stayed. Given that there are no fresh provisions in Serengeti, I still marvel at how Alute managed to give us such great breakfasts, dinners and lunch boxes five days in a row. He even turned out a delicious quiche and perfect loaves of bread baked in a metal box nestled among the embers of a charcoal fire. Impressive!

All in all, thanks to Lion King's organization and gear (sturdy tent, comfortable jeep, lots of bottled water, and the extra pair of binoculars we requested, etc.) and Mwita and Alute's outstanding skills and enjoyable company, our safari far exceeded our expectations. If you are going on safari to Serengeti and neighboring parks, I highly recommend choosing Lion King and requesting Mwita as your driver/guide and Alute as your chef. Safari njema! (Have a great safari!)

We did the 5 days safari: Tarangire, Serengeti (2 days), Crater and Manyara. Overall, it was an awesome experience. The booking process was very straight forward and we had confidence in Lion King Adventures from the beginning. Even though safaris are extremely expensive, this company had a good price in comparison.

Our guide Salehe was very knowledgeable and made his best efforts to show us everything we wanted.

Our cook Karim was very accommodating and prepared very delicious food. We are vegetarian and all our dishes were great.

In terms of places to visit, I would recommend NOT visiting Manyara.. really not that much to see there. Serengeti is by far the best place.

This trip was for 3... my husband, myself and our adult daughter. We had an amazing experience! Our safari far exceeded expectations! Our guide, Solehe, was fantastic. He had an amazing ability to find animals, and to get us the best view possible! We saw the Big 5... any many more.
