Amazing course for those familiar with Levantine Arabic and for those who are new to the language. Learning through writing first is ingenious - and helpful to read and speak! Alex and instructors are professional yet personable and always helps students, answers questions and teaches with patience and skill. I am learning so much!! Highly recommend!!

I already knew some Arabic when I started, but - wow! - I learned a lot! Great weekly video instructional classes + weekly small group conversation practice with native Levantine Arabic speakers to integrate what you're learning + lots of instructional materials to get you going and keep you actively engaged. Students are from around the world. Sessions build and build and build upon each other, like a train leaving the station that slowly builds up speed. Lingua Verna is a great investment in both yourself and toward honouring our diverse, multi-cultural, multi-lingual world where knowing two or three languages is the norm.

I have enjoyed the emphasis on conversations while learning with Lingua Verna. The creators upload two manageable videos every week, and then, in small groups, we focus on conversing with each other. I found this method of learning a language to be refreshing and align with my desire to be able to hold a conversation rather than understand only.

I recently had a fantastic experience at Lingua Verna Arabic Language School. I learned to read and speak Arabic, and I couldn't be happier with my progress. The classes are well-paced, making it easy to absorb the material. The instructors are incredibly approachable and create a welcoming environment, so I felt comfortable asking questions whenever I needed clarification. I highly recommend Lingua Verna to anyone looking to learn Arabic! I cannot wait to start level 2!

These guys are great. Lessons are well structured and all of the instructors are great to work with. I was amazed with I picked up week to week. I especially enjoyed the small break-out conversation groups where you get to practice speaking with the instructors (native speakers), who are all very nice people. You won't feel judged at all, and they foster a trusting environment.

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I have taken DOZENS of Arabic courses! From in-person to virtual, MSA to colloquial, I've tried it all. At this point you would think I'm fluent or have a basic understanding of speaking Arabic. Wrong! I've truly struggled picking up the language and it sticking. Learning languages in general is challenging for me, I felt so defeated and was ready to give up on trying to learn when I found Lingua Verna. I was really interested in the structure of the course, and it seemed like a better format for learning than what I was used to so figured I'd give it one more try. All I can say is wow! Alex has done a great job with creating an easy to follow program. If I had to recommend one course for a beginner to take, it would definitely be this one. Although there are weeks where life gets a little hectic and I fall behind, I really surprised myself recently when I was watching a documentary in Arabic that did not have any subtitles. I actually understood so much! And even though there are times I have a hard time remember a word, I can understand what is being said in class. I can't say that has happened to me in my prior courses. The online course with PDFs, videos, and meetings twice a week has really helped me improve my Arabic. Shoutout to my teacher Bashar for his patience! I can't wait to learn more!

I'm feeling so lucky I found Lingua Verna. It always killed me that I I couldn't speak Lebanese, and taking courses in university was almost a waste because 1. you never come out speaking 2. learning the formal didn't help me. Keeping this course in my day to day has been immensely helpful and am looking forward to visiting my family oversees soon.

I am really impressed with Lingua Verna's approach to language learning. They have a great team, and I feel like I've made noticeable improvement in my ability to start speaking Levantine Arabic. I love being in small groups with other learners from around the world, and it's really helpful that the instructors come from different parts of the Levant. I highly recommend it!

If you are actually looking to learn authentic Levantine Arabic and gain unparalleled conversation skills, I employ you to check out this course! Alex and Saeed are kind, adaptable, and more than competent teachers. Having the dual perspective of both a native speaker, Saeed, and an adult language learner, Alex, you are able to grow in this language from scratch. I personally came in not even knowing how to read the alphabet - I now hold daily conversations with friends. I cannot express how much work and heart had been put into this course, allowing you to build yourself up within a community of folks just as passionate about the language. Please know that both Alex and Saeed are also just incredibly understanding, dedicated people. They are not figureheads spearing a learning program - they are a powerhouse team willing to help at any stage of the learning process. I cannot recommend this course enough - you definitely get your bang for your buck and then some!

Bashar is a wonderful Arabic teacher if you're interested in learning Southern Levantine dialect! Alex is super accommodating, and despite the large volume of students it is easy to get face time and interact with teachers when you need to.

Would definitely recommend this class whether you grew up around native Arabic speakers or have minimal to no exposure to the Arabic language. Alex Buraq, and Bashar are great teachers who are patient and explain things in a manner that is easy to understand and are always willing to answer questions. They are also very flexible and listen to feedback and suggestions with regards to how the study materials are presented. I'm excited for level 2.

I'm not an expert that has tried other courses, but I did homework before jumping into learning Arabic. Alex and his team at Lingua Verna have a great program that mixes online group sessions with individual study through a really great user interface. A mix of interaction with peers and an instructor every week of the course, and then self-paced homework - it works. The start is learning the alphabet so that you can read certain simple words as they start with a few nouns, and move from there. Within weeks you're putting sentences together in small groups of 5 or 6 people. If you're serious about learning Levant Arabic, I highly recommend this course Alex has put together. Invest in yourself!

Just completed level 1 - I am so excited to start level 2 . I have done multiple courses and this is the first time I feel like I have advanced.

This course is an incredible and affordable investment! As a child of Arabic-speaking parents, I could understand the language but never learned to speak, read, or write. In just a few weeks, I can now confidently read and write—something I never thought possible!

Beyond the lessons, there are plenty of resources to support independent practice, but nothing ever feels rushed. The warm, supportive environment feels like a gathering of friends and family, making learning enjoyable and judgment-free. I’m so grateful to have found such a safe space to learn Arabic!
