After six weeks overall very pleased.

After six weeks I'm overall very pleased with my LingoCulture experience. The teacher quality has been good, with some being very good. Even the "worst" have offered lessons worth the time and money. A couple of minor critiques:
i. I was a bit surprised to find teachers suddenly disappear. I realize there are lots of reasons for people to come and go, but I had some good teachers early on who suddenly disappeared from the list. I don't think they knew either: it was all "à la prochaine fois!" and then-- gone. I'm hoping the company treats its teachers well; most of them are certainly worth the price I'm paying.
ii. The new missed lesson policy is a little concerning. I'm 100% fine with paying for lessons I have to miss without prior notice. But I sometimes have to miss for reasons (work emergencies) that I can't control and can't give advance notice of. The new policy seems to limit the number of times one can miss a lesson without advance notice. I'm not sure why; if I pay for the lesson and can't show up it seems like LingoCulture comes out o.k.

i. You’re right, our teachers are incredible people with their own journeys. Sometimes they move on to new life paths, further studies, personal opportunities among other things. Because we deeply care for our team, we handle every departure with full support from our HR team. While we understand it’s tough when a favorite teacher moves on, we have to balance communication with their right to privacy. We are, however, looking into ways to better inform students of these changes while respecting those boundaries.

ii. We hear you on the "work emergencies." It’s important to note that the policy you’re referring to is not yet fully active, it is currently being reviewed and refined by our team. Your feedback is incredibly timely, as it helps us find that 'sweet spot' where we balance teacher stability with the flexibility our students (especially busy professionals) need.

Thank you for advocating for our teachers and for sharing your experience. We are committed to making sure LingoCulture remains a great place for both you to learn and our teachers to work!

I have learned so much in 6 months

I have learned so much in 6 months! Thanks to a few teachers who are doing their best. Unfortunately, when they become too comfortable, the learning suffers. Majority are experts in explaining the book so there is no doubt that you will learn too. However, I need to learn for TCF purposes but others seem to have shown less expertise on this strategy and will only edit or improve my responses. No additional input. There are those who will exert more but you need to talk to many tutors first before you find them. About the pricing, it is a whole different discussion. I understand totally the price increase 2x and they made their best effort to help me accept it. Their admins are very responsive and helpful. I am hoping to see more changes as promised for the price increase and I can submit another review.

We never want a student to feel that our instructors only teach lightheartedly; rather, for students with ambitious goals like yours, we want to ensure the challenge level stays high.

For specialized goals like the TCF, being specific with your teachers about your expectations makes a massive difference. As well, our admin team is also always here to help with this process. We can provide a curated list of TCF specialist teachers and make internal notes on the administrative side to ensure your instructors know exactly what you need.

Thank you for recognizing the hard work of our admins and the new features being implemented. We’re excited to help you crush those TCF goals!

Lingoculture- the benefits of hindsight!

Key points to my three month experience with Lingoculture:
1. My main teacher was excellent but they can leave and disappear without any notice. You can build a strong relationship and then they are no longer employed. No explanation, no contact, no sharing of info. If you want the consistency of one teacher this may not be the platform for you!
2. Be aware that at the end of a billing period you can't book another session until you renew your subscription. This leaves you up to 4 days where you can't book a lesson, creating a 'gap' in your learning. Additionally, you can't book more than 4 days in advance. You have to book sessions as they open, at 7.00 pm GMT but are limited to 4 days. You can't book a week ahead. Your diary must therefore be flexible! You are also competing with other clients for teaching spots- unless you pay additionally.
3. If you upgrade your subscription because you want more lessons there are unadvertised issues- see above for one month subscription. With a 3 month subscription there is no refund regardless of the situation. If you commit nearly $800 for the period and subsequently have a change of circumstances you will not get a refund.
4. In my experience the administrative side of Lingoculture is not transparent or resolution focused. They will say they understand but do nothing materially to respond positively to the situation. Make sure you read the terms and conditions before committing.
5. The platform is full of glitches; you will experience booking problems, billing issues etc. This may be no different to other platforms.

Overall, great access to to some excellent teachers from North Africa (bear in mind they get paid significantly less than you pay per hour) but a platform with issues and a management team that are not, in my experience, interested in improving their offer.

We’re glad to hear you connected well with your main teacher. As we explained during your subscription, LingoCulture gives access to a pool of teachers rather than guaranteeing long‑term availability of one specific instructor. Teachers’ schedules and personal circumstances can change, and we’re not able to share private information about their employment or personal decisions. That said, we always encourage learners to explore multiple teachers so they have continuity whenever someone becomes unavailable.

2. Booking windows and the “billing gap”
The booking window you describe only affects certain subscription scenarios, and we’ve already been working on an update that will remove this limitation. Additionally, all learners can select up to three favorite teachers and book with them a full week in advance, which helps maintain consistency and avoid scheduling stress.

3. Refunds and subscription upgrades
Our refund policy is clearly stated at sign‑up, and we do our best to apply it consistently and fairly. In your case, the subscription had already been used for more than half of the billing cycle, which made it ineligible for a refund. Even so, our team offered you 50% of your remaining classes to use after your cycle ended, an exception we proposed in good faith, but you chose not to accept it.

4. Transparency and support
We strive to be as clear as possible in all communication, and we acknowledged a wording mistake in one of our chats. We agree with your recommendation that learners should read the terms and conditions carefully, and we’re always available to clarify anything that feels unclear.

5. Platform issues
Like any tech platform, occasional glitches can occur, and our engineering team works continuously to resolve them quickly. When you mention “billing issues,” it seems to refer to custom adjustments outside our standard policies, which we’re unable to accommodate in order to keep the experience fair and consistent for all learners.

We’re genuinely happy that you enjoyed working with our teachers, and we appreciate your feedback. It helps us continue improving the platform for everyone.

There are great and kind teachers but…

There are great and kind teachers but the management I think is not very consistent and not pro-customers. When they changed their policy and increased the rate, the change is not appropriately communicated to old loyal clients.

The perfect place to start your French journey

I’ve been learning with LingoCulture for over six months now, and I’m genuinely enjoying it. I started from zero with no previous knowledge, and the experience has been great. The teachers, the materials, and the very user-friendly website make learning enjoyable.

I speak English and Spanish, and learning French has definitely been challenging for me, especially at the beginning. But it never feels impossible—the teachers clarify everything, help you pronounce words correctly (which was the hardest part for me), and share useful insights about the language and culture.

One of the things I’m most proud of is that I’m now able to understand and speak enough French to take most of my classes fully in French. At the beginning, that felt like a very distant goal, but it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to talk about myself in French now.

They also provide flashcards for each topic, which really help reinforce vocabulary and verbs after every lesson. I’m a very visual learner, so reviewing the words after class has made a big difference for me.

If you’re looking for a place to learn French, I truly recommend giving LingoCulture a try. It’s been a great experience for me.

Great way to learn a language

Have been using LingoCulture for about two months. So far very good. The classes are excellent, the tutors know their stuff very well and have been happy to tailor each lesson to what I am currently learning. Pricing is clear and fair, and customer service has been great also if I have any questions at any time.

Linculture review

It took time to find instructors that I like. A number of the instructors appeared very disinterested and at times I was sure they were either using their phones or computers to do something else. Most of the time there is not much formal instruction, more conversation with some correction. I did eventually find a couple of instructors that were more involved and helpful.

Great experience

Great experience. I can schedule classes almost any time (they have GMT+1-friendly lessons). I had lessons with different teachers who continued with the lesson where the previous teacher stopped. However, I also have classes with teachers with whom I work on specific issues, such as pronunciation. I highly recommend their lessons, especially if you have some extra time and can take several classes during the day.

LingoCulture was a great experience in my opinion. I used it to prepare for my TCF Canada exam. The teachers were highly knowledgeable, patient and supportive. The best part was unlimited classes, no you don't have to worry about missing any doubts or errors that you wanted to talk about. The schedules are incredibly flexible, classes can be booked at ease. I would highly recommend LingoCulture to everyone.

I wish I signed up sooner!

I was initially worried about paying for the program because I hadn't seen any unsponsored videos regarding LingoCulture. However, I gave it a go because iTalki lessons were getting expensive and wow I'm so glad I made the switch.

They follow the édito curriculum which has books covering you from A1 to C2 and most of the teachers are native French speakers.

Lessons are all 1-to-1 which is great, but one thing to keep in mind and which may affect some people's decision is that a lot of the teachers are from French speaking African countries. To me this is a good thing because I belive I get more exposure to different French speaking cultures and of course more exposure to a variety of French accents.

Great teachers, flexible learning, and a fantastic choice of textbook

I’ve been learning with Lingoculture for a while now, and overall, my experience has been very positive. Most teachers are good at guiding you through the textbook content, helping you stay on track and making sure you understand the material. A few teachers stand out as exceptional — they don’t just go through the lessons, they actively guide you, explain grammar in depth, give clear examples, and help you connect the dots between theory and practice. Naturally, these teachers become everyone’s favorites, so their schedules fill up quickly, and it can be hard to book a class with them.

One of the things I appreciate most is the flexibility we have as students. We’re encouraged to collaborate with teachers by voicing our specific needs, whether that’s focusing on grammar, conversation, listening skills, or preparing for a specific exam. This makes the learning experience more tailored and personal. Personally, I prefer to save time in class for interaction by completing writing exercises at home. Then, I bring them to the next lesson so my teacher can review and correct them with me — it’s a great way to make the most of the one-on-one time.

I also want to highlight the choice of Édito as the main textbook. It’s a fantastic resource: well-structured, engaging, and rich in real-world language. I’ve found it very effective for both building grammar foundations and developing vocabulary through authentic examples. I’m genuinely glad Lingoculture chose it — it gives the whole learning program a solid backbone
Overall, Lingoculture offers quality teaching, flexibility to shape your own learning path, and the right tools to make progress. Highly recommended for anyone serious about improving their French.

From good to not good!

Started off well March 2025. A few internet connections and logging on issues on their end over the months but nothing major. Late June started to not have availability for any tutors. I had found one that was wonderful and was consistently scheduling with her. However, no availability for two weeks with any tutors starting end of June. I reached out to several support emails I had and they stated they had an unexpected large influx of students and not enough tutors and asked for my patience (after billing me for the month) I pressed and sent several emails even to the found/CEO. They finally refunded me the pro rate for the month after I sent documentation and stated unprofessional and unethical business practices. I think they are trying to improve but too much to pay for my patience. A little french was learned....

*Update: In response to LingoCultures reply below on 7/15
Absolutely! A refund was the right thing to do, however this was not considered by Lingoculture as I initially requested. Only a "pause" in my account or extending the billing cycle for 6 days. Neither allowed for continued learning as no sessions were available for weeks billed for. Not until repeated documentation was submitted on my end that was my initial request for a refund was granted.

We recognized how frustrating the situation could be, and aimed to be as understanding and flexible as possible throughout.

The solutions may not have aligned with your initial request, but they were offered proactively and not in response to any accusations. We also provided compensation for the missed sessions, not as a reaction to pressure, but because we believed it was the right thing to do.

We’re continuing to expand our tutor network to better meet demand, and we’re glad to hear that some French was learned along the way.

Model Language Learning Platform

LingoCulture has offered a truly unique experience that should serve as a model for other language learning platforms. The first meeting was with a coach, which allowed me the opportunity to discuss my language learning goals, after which, I was recommended teachers who would best fit those goals. On any given day, I am able to decide whether or not I'd like to follow a more structured approach or whether I'd like to simply have a conversation. Classes can be scheduled in advance for even last minute, which is a beneficial when I have a busy schedule. I recently had my second coaching session and I was impressed by the suggestions, strategies, and plans that were put into place. I look forward to continuing my French journey with LingoCulture!

Good platform, two areas to be improved

I really like LingoCulture. I wish the starting time to book classes would be 6:00 AM Paris time. This would make us enable to insert a session before work. Teachers are very dedicated but their video and audio quality are weak. I hope both of my recommendations will be implemented soon, which will make LingoCulture shine.
