I took the Lift 109 yesterday
I took the Lift 109 yesterday. It was a completely smooth experience with no queues or hold ups. I was somewhat taken back at the price of £24 with no discount for someone of my years but decided to do it anyway. The weather was clear and the views from the top are breathtaking. Our guide Mason was knowledgeable and friendly and very helpful at pointing out landmarks of interest. A great experience but because of what I consider an excessive cost only the three stars.
Shoddy customer service
Cancelled booking, lost promotional rate, and Customer Service refused to address the issue. They kept repeating that they “gave notice,” which doesn’t fix the inconvenience or the financial loss. After reading other reviews, it seems this is a recurring pattern — cancellations followed by scripted responses and no escalation, similar to the tactics used by airlines. No accountability and no interest in helping customers rebook. Very disappointing experience.
Spoilt Birthday Celebration
Unfortunately our chimney lift visit was cancelled on the day.
The notice didnt come through until we had already left for London!
Sadly customer services have been very dismissive and we are now almost £90 out of pocket through no fault of our own.
We certainly would have expected a more empathetic and professional response for such a prestigious destination.
We have two very disappointed children and refunded tickets we cannot now afford to use. Such a shame.
Please avoid as would hate this to happen to another family!
The experience is great but rip off management2330
The experience going up the lift is great, unfortunately there were issues before that. I had pre-booked and paid £14.50 for a photo at the top. On arrival my disabled husband could not find the voucher and the manager was called over and said to pay again and the money would be reimbursed on proof of purchase. So he paid £10 - the price has gone right down - probably because its taken in a photo booth on the ground floor- you choose your background. Nothing like a photo at the top!
I subsequently asked for reimbursement and they refused with varying explanations, none of them factually accurate. A complete scam. I think because he is physically disabled they thought they could claim he was mentally confused. Horrendous. Ticket booth staff member was lovely but a complete rip off.
Best views of London so far. Great guide
Best views of London I’ve seen so far, and given the relatively small size of the platform, you can just look around in 360º without having to walk around — it’s a very cool feeling, a bit like flying / having a bird’s view. We were very lucky and there were only five people in our lift (I’ve heard it can get a lot busier but I can’t speak for what the experience is in that case). The guide, Cosmos, was incredibly warm, charismatic and gave us an azing overview of everything there is to see from up there (plus, he took some great pictures of us!)
Nice views but a bit gimmicky
The views are great but the overall experience was a bit lacklustre. It was really too hot with the sunlight, glass and all the people. There needs to be air con I think for the price charged. I didn't get the lift light show before we entered the lifts. I’d rather not have that and a lower ticket price. Agree with comments by others that there’s not really any seating while you wait. I wasn’t aware of the steps either, that was never mentioned when I got the tickets. It was fine but it didn’t help with the heat situation. It seemed like not long before we descended and there was no notification it was going to happen. I didn’t appreciate compulsory photos. I was told the camera would take a pic in 5 seconds. In those 5 seconds a lift operative strolled across to chat the the person in charge of the photos, with the camera on between them both which was really off putting. Shouldn’t it be optional rather than mandatory to have your pic taken? Everyone had to do it. The shop too was also a bit lacklustre. I found it hard to find because the shopping centre is so huge. The lifts said it was on level 1 but I’m from out of area and was in turbine hall b instead of a. It’s not well signposted. I’d say it’s nice for the novelty and get advance tickets/promotional discounts as it’s not worth full price.
Fantastic experience
Fantastic experience, and give the very enthusiastic and talented man Mason a massive thanks.
Made the experience better with all the knowledge he possessed.
10/10
Customer service at its lowest level,
Customer service at its lowest level,
Experience cancelled due a technical fault....these things but to communicate via email knowing it was a high chance it would go to junk mail so got unread..... Arrived to hear the news with no compassion and respect that a family traveled to only be disappointed with comments like well you can rebook sir or receive a full refund is totally unacceptable..
Unless you book whilst on site I would personally avoid.....
Poor customer service
The view at the top is great and good VFM; however service was awful- very disorganised- the staff didn’t know what they were doing and offered no information, clearly not trained in customer service. We had early bird tickets but didn’t get our drinks.
Poor value and a 45min queue time even if it looks quiet
The cons
It was quiet but we were in the que for 45mins. It doesn't look like a long que but you will never see all of the que. There is almost no seating whilst you wait. If they told people it's going to be 45mins nobody would wait.... The duration is listed as an hour but the view is only 9 mins, the rest is standing in line
Every time it goes up it earns them £1000 (£40,000 a day). As somebody else has written this event is very poor value. Do make sure that your hotel is not higher than the top otherwise you will wonder what the fuss is.
Very little info about the history. A video would not kill them.
Pro's
The view is good but after all the waiting I was starting to get annoyed and just wanted a sit down tbh.
That's it but please read the other reviews. Some people love it.
4 tickets booked for 12:30 sunday 18th…
4 tickets booked for 12:30 sunday 18th may. turned up 15 mins late due to uber boat by thames clippers being absoilutely terrible and having to use the tube instead after waiting 50 minutes for boats that never came. Turned up and were checked into the queue promtly, no issue with turning up late. Staff were great, freindly and informative. The experience was educational enough, and ran very smooth, and the experience in the lift was fantastic made better by having the perfect weather for it. Popping out the top is just such a wow moment, i didnt record it but wish i had, i recomend this whole heartedly, best views we had all weekend (clean glass), we did sky garden and the cable cars but this was the best.
Not such a good view… we were lucky…
Not such a good view… we were lucky because we got early tickets so didn’t queue for long, but it was a hot day and after nearly passing out from the heat up in the glass elevator I noticed a fan behind the assistant, aha air at last!! No she was holding her hair up and airing herself and not letting the cool air circulate. It was not worth the money but because the shops are all empty maybe that’s why they are ripping people off. Don’t waste your money treat yourself to a picnic and enjoy Battersea park or maybe enjoy a walk by the Thames. At least you will have air.
Simply don't care.
Paided over £100 for 4 tickets then 2 days before 1 of the party became ill with a brain aneurysm, could only exchange tickets for up to 3 months after original date, but it takes 6 months to recover from an aneurysm, customer service absolutely useless, don't care about reason and just expect you to loss £100 of your hard earned money,I did complain and that didn't do any good simply don't care,so if you go make sure that your party are not going to have any life threatening conditions as these people won't care and will tell you to go f××× yourself and keep the money.
This attraction costs way too much…
This attraction costs way too much money. It consists of: 1. Boring touch screen displays (10 minutes). 2. Pointless laser light show (7 minutes). 3. Walk up 39 steps. 4. Lift experience (5 minutes). That’s it. The staff are mute. No one tells you what is involved and how much time you will spend looking out over London. We didn’t make it all the way around the 360 view and didn’t take many photos before the lift (without any warning from the attendant) just descended. Would NOT recommend!
Ticket refund
Hi, I've now written to infoatlift109 over 10 times to get an over payment refund. Originally I received an email with questions. I've answered them all. Then nothing. Come on team I'm sure you can sort a refund!! Can't you ?
I went to Battersea Power Station for…
I went to Battersea Power Station for the first time last Thursday and I was very impressed by the whole site. Very upmarket shops and restaurants, lots to see and do. (King Charles was visiting at the same time coincidentally). My friend and I ventured over to Lift 109 as it looked interesting. We were smoothly moved through from the queue to the info area which was small but adequate. The installation was informative and really gave me the impression of how London has expanded over the past 80 years. The lift experience itself was very enjoyable, considering it was raining and misty, the views from the top of the chimney were still spectacular at around 4pm. An unusual POV looking south to north on a bend of the river, so an interesting aspect. The staff were attentive and knowledgable especially at the ticket office and in the shop. I enjoyed an update from your staff member Daisy in particular. I would recommend this experience to everyone. I was worried about the height aspect and claustrophobia, but there is a lot of space and only a few people in a huge glass lift, so very spacious and you can walk around to check out all of the angles. No issues with height since your focus is lateral.
Rubbish Lift 109 experience
I'm already tired & absolutely fuming, booked a 1.45pm slot, FLEW DOWN from Scotland and at the moment I have stood 90 minutes in a queue and am still queuing...I'll have another 30 mins to get into the first of the experience making it well after 3.15pm before we get near the lift - this is outrageous. No one has explained any delays - totally unacceptable. Friday Dec 6th 2024....where was the point in booking a time?????? Absolutely awful experience....🤬🤬🤬👺
No refund details
Took my 88 year old Dad (travelled from Derbyshire) and sister from Newcastle today, "technical fault" told we would be emailed if it started again. I asked why not text/ WhatsApp was told data issues. Opened 2 hours later which was too late for us, no links to refund in the emails sent from Lift 109. I am hoping this isn't going to be a challenge...
Amazing customer service!
Amazing customer service from Callum and Francesca! Even though we booked our tickets on our way to Battersea, and realised, too late, we had booked for the day after, Callum sorted us out and amended our tickets! Francesca was great, and they both made 3 ladies of a funny age, feel like VIPs! Excellent ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Don't order the champagne experience - you don't get it!
Very little time at the top to take in the view (after waiting for an hour) and then if you book champagne you only get it if you help yourself at the bar!!!
Sorry no refund for non-existent bubbly. What a con.
Save your money and go to the Shard - it's so much better
