Spanish Leica Microsystems office.. do not waste your time.
Some time ago I contacted Leica Germany about buying a microscope that costs around 5000 Euro, but as many companies today, they direct me to the local office in my country. I´m a Norwegian, but I live in Spain.
I told the very kind lady I was talking to in Germany that I do not want to deal with the Spanish office, as I have so many bad experiences here in Spain, they just do not want to do anything.. the list is almost endless unless it´s about food or wine. Long story short, but it was their policy.
So after some time I started to get advertising from Leica in Spain, but no one contacted me as I was promised, and expected.. just as I told them in Germany that was going to happen, so I sent Germany another email to get off the newsletter list. I heard nothing..
After two months, still nothing from the Spanish office, except the general newsletter advertising, so I sent Germany another email, saying it´s enough.. and if we could find another solution.
Well, the same day an email from the Spanish office arrived, in Spanish of course, that I could call them.. even though I already told Germany I do not read, speak or write Spanish.
The kind lady at Leica in Germany asked me to give them a chance.. but imagine, how little they would do if I want to buy a lens or an adapter for 4 - 500 Euro, when they need a babysitter for buying a 5000 Euro microscope. Obviously nothing is going to happen.
I several times asked if I could deal with another country, even if I had to pay more for shipping, I just need good customer service, which is very rare in Spain when it comes to order things, but obviously not..
It´s very disappointing they are so strict to the rule about only able to buy from their local office, even if I warned them nothing would happen even before they directed me to the Spanish office.
Anyway I´m sure I´m not an important customer to them and their priority is labs buying loads, but still.. we are a lot of engravers and jewelers in need of high quality tools and it´s extremely frustrating. Hopefully feedback might change something.. probably not in Spain, but the general Leica policy.
Luckily I have a good contact from Zeiss in the UK, but of course import taxes will come on top.. but I gladly pay that and have customer service you can trust.
The lady at the German office was always very kind, but really a shame that the Spanish office need babysitters like this, and they are not willing to find another solution.
So unfortunately this is my experience with Leica Microsystems.
