I have used this site several times for leases I needed to create and use. Honestly, the leases are great and I did ask a lawyer if these documents are any good, including any changes they allow and suggest. Answer I was given: Yes, they are good as long as you stay within the boundary of the wording they suggest. This is a great tool when you need something common done with little personal changes, like a rental agreement, lease riders etc. However, the more complicated the request the more you will need a live lawyer to ensure all is well.

My only negative is that the pricing plan is not really all that good. As a returning customer I don't want to pay for an annual service when I only need one new document every few years.

They really need a deal for returning customers that need small changes say $20-$30 a month renewal, but not limit it to just one document. I would gladly pay that instead of the annual fee (yes it could cost more annually, but for just a month or two of access, reasonable) this way I would not mind to reactivating my account for a month or two when I need access instead of paying for an annual access, I really don't need year-round. But hey, that's just my two cents as I think it would make a better business model.

As for the “free” well, nothing is free. You just get a 7-day trial, which I honestly cancelled my first time and paid the $30 for access to my one document I needed for the year. Reasonable considering the price of a lawyer’s these days and I just needed the one document.

Signed up and cancelled the same day, (within the 7 day trial period) only to have my card charged £29. Customer support offered no specific apology and showed no empathy or understanding - they simply said in very dry terms that "no refunds are available at this time" whatever that means. Have now removed my debit card from my Lawdepot account so hopefully this stops further charges. Edit: Initiated a chargeback via my bank and was successfully refunded the funds (from my bank). I received no apology from LawDepot. Also, in my final interaction with LawDepot about this matter, I received an email from them which was identical to their previous message - an exact copy and paste robotic, 'couldn't care less' piece of text. Totally laughable customer service, they need to be held accountable for this exceptionally poor business practice and initiating a chargeback via my bank at least means they will be brought to the attention of the people that may be able to do something about it.

I used the free trial on this site which was very easy and straightforward to make a document personalised to myself. After the free trial I forgot to cancel and was charged £29. I went on to live chat and explained this and they refunded me straight away with no hassle.

I spent 15 minutes completing a form on the website for a "free" template, I don't consider it free as it asks for your card details and is signing you up to a subscription that has a 7-day cancellation period.

I don't think this is good business practice and would therefore not recommend working with this company, I think if a company advertises something as free and does not highlight sufficiently in advance that it is only free after you provide card details and sign up for a membership then there may be other important terms that are not highlighted sufficiently for an average user to be made aware.

Avoid at all cost. Will lure you in with a free trial then take your money without proving a service and deny a refund on a technicality if you cancel 1 day late. These types of companies shouldn’t be allowed to operate. Disgraceful

I have used this site twice, for a power of attorney document a year ago, and a tenancy agreement last week.
Both times the documents have been tailored to my requirements according to UK law.
The first time I forgot to cancel the free 7days offer, and paid a fee, I saw this on my bank account and cancelled without any problem.
The second time it was marked up on the calendar and I cancelled on day 6.
Yes they could make an effort to warn me my free trail is coming to an end, but that is not in their interest.
So, this is not a 'scam' per se, they provide a good service for online legal documents and the terms of the Free Trail are not hidden...but you need to be on your toes and it is obviously very frustrating/expensive if you get distracted hence the majority of negative reviews.
A good source for tailored online legal documents but if you want to use their "1week free" offer then put a big sticker on the mirror/front door/forehead to cancel in time.

I have literally just signed up for a year, paid the fee (£60) and got nothing for. All in order to get a contract printed.
Tried calling them. No joy. They didn’t sign me up to associate my membership payment with so my fee is in limbo. I have my card receipt by no members mail.

Just on the phone now to credit card company to report FRAUD. And also to cancel the card.

ABSOLUTE JOKE.

Loses 1 star because of some terminology seems a bit American to me, it's a US company I think.

I don't understand all the negative reviews, which initially stopped me using Lawdepot, but couldn't find anything as automated, so came again, glad I did. I will use them again for some employment contracts I need.

150 lighter due to card charges dating back months from this company due to a subscription I opted out of the same day I used it- absolute daylight robbery and I used one document. This scam company rely on your card details when you sign up so they can continue to take £29 a month for a service you used once in a day! I have only just noticed 6 months on - I feel sick 🤒

I did cancel the same day I used the service and your terms and conditions state the following:

*We will refund subscriptions up to the value of £100.00

*Each document costs a maximum of £39.00

The footprint on this site shows I visited one time in August, yet you took the following payments

£29.00 August September October November December = £145 for a document worth £39.00

How can it be £5.00 per month subscription yet £29.00 a month if you don't cancel the same week you start it?

I suggest your "cancel" button failed me and you rely on this to build your equity to make your business profitable.

I also want to know why you can retain a persons card details and not provide them with a receipt to their registered email so I would have seen this sooner!

I will be seeking legal advice on this as well as reporting you to your local trading standards office, just because it's legal does not make it any less of a scam - it's scandalous and disgusting!

Did a free trial Tenancy Agreement. Simple and straightforward. I did several versions of the document as I wasn't quite sure which one was most appropriate to our particular circumstances. No problem saving and downloading all the documents.

Seems nearly all the complaints are from those that didn't read the terms regarding automatic billing after 7 days if they didn't cancel the subscription. Caveat emptor!

I never had to give credit card details - I selected Paypal, so I am further protected should there ever be any "issues".

Yes, I would use them again, and would be happy to pay for their services.

They get their money by getting people to sign up, enter card details and then after 1 week (!) start billing you, no warning, no email, no scruples and this must be by design, this is their business model, nothing illegal, but who wants to do business with something like that.. I asked for a refund after having thought I had cancelled (apparently i hadnt) they started collecting money from my card. I politely asked for refund, and got the usual 'if you had read the terms and conditions' etc. This company is not about looking after customers, I asked if they could refund even some of the payments and the answer is no. So no more custom from me, ever, and hopefully this review will warn others to STAY AWAY!

Scam. Free until you have put all your personal details (and possibly another party's as well) in and then they want your card details.

This is actual theft. I never agreed to a subscription, never used the service. They have been stealing money from my account for over a year and a half.

They abuse a tried and tested consumer experience - free subscription, which they do not tell you ends and then charge you until you notice the money is coming out of your bank. They claim to send an email, which I didn't receive.

Subscribed to use one free template, have since charged me twice for £59.00 and claimed they had sent emails but have not received any emails as such. This is a scam website, they are not even based in the UK, DO NOT USE as you will be sorry. The staff was also very rude and abrupt. I will be alerting my bank regarding them.
