My name is Andy Coombe and I am a Director of MyBuild MyWay.
We were introduced to Andrew Slimm of Kent Build (now known) approximately three years ago.
I cannot stress this strongly enough:
If you are considering giving Kent Build your money, I would urge you not to.
In my experience, Andrew is exceptionally convincing at the beginning. He talks the talk, knows the construction terminology, makes big promises and gives you every confidence that your project and money are in safe hands.
Then the nightmare starts.
Unfinished work. Massive additional costs. Huge supposedly “unforeseen” extras. Promises made and broken. Projects left incomplete. Money disputes. Confrontation and intimidation when challenged.
And this is NOT one disgruntled customer having a disagreement with a builder.
I am currently working with five previous Kent Build clients whose disputes have resulted in adjudication, arbitration and/or court proceedings.
I have personally seen the financial and emotional damage these projects have caused.
The combined value of the matters I am currently aware of is well in excess of £150,000.
My own dealings have resulted in matters being reported to the police, solicitors and industry/accreditation bodies.
I have been in construction for years and have dealt with hundreds of projects and contractors.
I have never encountered anything like the problems surrounding Kent Build.
Had I known three years ago what I know today, Kent Build would NEVER have been allowed onto our platform and I would NEVER have introduced Andrew Slimm to a single client.
If you are reading this because you're considering using Kent Build:
STOP.
Speak to previous customers.
Look into the disputes.
Do your own independent checks.
Do not rely solely on promises made before money changes hands.
Personally, I would not give Kent Build or Andrew Slimm another penny, another project or another opportunity.
The damage already caused to the people I am dealing with is more than enough.
AVOID.
