Premium prices, poor execution, months of delays

We had an extremely poor experience with Kallums Bathrooms Guildford and would strongly advise others to avoid them.

The main issue was fundamental: the vanity unit they delivered did not match the showroom sample we were shown and based our bathroom purchase on. This wasn’t subjective, it was clearly a different finish. Instead of taking ownership, this was initially disputed, leaving us to spend our own time gathering evidence and proving the issue ourselves with the help of the manufacturer rep visiting our home to investigate themselves.

What followed was a pattern of poor communication, lack of accountability, and repeated delays in resolving this core issue.

Even before this issue, we had to postpone our fitters twice for the initial fit out due to Kallums providing incorrect delivery dates for when fixtures would arrive to us. This led directly to additional costs and disruption.

The most unacceptable part was the handling of the replacement vanity unit. We were told it would be installed by October, five months after the initial installation. After repeatedly chasing for updates via email, showroom visits and telephone calls up to Director level, we were eventually informed that the replacement unit had been sitting in Kallums warehouse mislabelled. It therefore wasn’t delivered until December, seven months after the project started. This level of disorganisation is simply not acceptable for a company operating at this price point.

There were also further oversights, including agreed items (like radiator hooks) not being properly accounted for despite being discussed and included in the fitter’s pack. We’re still waiting for those, Howard.

Overall, this experience was defined by poor attention to detail, weak communication, and a lack of ownership when things went wrong. While a resolution was eventually offered, it came only after months of inconvenience, wasted time, and unnecessary stress.

We have a clear written paper trail of what was promised to us versus what was actually delivered, and the two do not align. As a result, we are now considering our options to pursue this further.

A very successful project.

My project involved reconfiguring a bathroom and a toilet into a bathroom and shower room, complicated by the limited space available. I was impressed by Kallums Guildford showroom, with its bathroom displays and large-scale screens, and its relaxed and friendly atmosphere. David, who was responsible for the design, was very welcoming, and explained clearly how to achieve my aim. He soon produced a practicable plan, and an estimate which combined quality with cost-effectiveness. I would recommend Kallums for their ability to turn a potentially complex process into a straightforward one. They also deserve credit for installing the bathrooms through Ryan and his team at R&S Bathrooms.

It was an installation which involved working in a small space, and required numerous trades in building new partitions, Installing a Velux, completely replacing the plumbing, plastering, electrics (including underfloor heating), carpentry and tiling. Everything was coordinated and performed efficiently, and to a high standard, and each one of the team was professional, friendly and courteous, always taking the time to discuss progress with me. They started early and, when necessary, finished late, and I was impressed by the fact that someone was working on the project every day of the build. Ryan always responded promptly to all my requests, and helped with practical issues relating to the design. I was even assisted with plumbing issues unrelated to the project! The trust I had in the team made even more confident about the success of the end product.

Good products, terrible service

Good design and product quality, but the positive experience ends there with the Guildford store. After we paid in full, everything became slow and painful. They sent several incorrect items – the wrong toilet, the wrong tiles, the wrong countertop. My plumber even flagged it wasn’t the right toilet on the order and they still sent the wrong one, meaning we incurred extra tradesmen costs for wasted time. We specifically picked a vanity unit with a quick turnaround; only after we paid we were then told it would be double the time. Items all sent individually so tradesmen had to wait or come back when everything was there. When I asked for a list of outstanding items, we were asked to list what had been delivered to work it out from there. Trying to speak to anyone was impossible - three Kallums staff left with no warning/courtesy call or email meaning communication was terrible. We won’t be using them again based on the service, which is a real shame.

A couple of issues arose during the process, including the supplier delivering the wrong tiles, which we managed to have replaced in half the original lead time, and a warehouse picking error on a worktop that we swapped out the same day.
While these types of challenges can occasionally happen on projects, we fully appreciate that the main frustration was the lack of communication, and we are truly sorry for that. Communication is a vital part of what we do, and the team has been notified to ensure this doesn’t happen again in the future. As a family-run business, we care deeply about every project we undertake, and we are grateful for your patience and understanding while we worked to put things right. We do hope you are now enjoying the finished result in your home.

We chose Kallums because of the people

We chose Kallums for the complete renovation of a small family bathroom because it offered a design and installation service and because we appreciated the polite and 'unpushy' people, particularly Howard, we encountered in their Putney showroom.While the belated arrival of some of the items caused upsetting delays(which is the reason for not awarding 5 stars)the end result was extremely good.This was due to the skill and professional behaviour of Wael the fitter.His willingness to work anti-social hours to get the work completed was commendable.In addition his ever friendly and well mannered behaviour made his presence in the house entirely comfortable.Thank you Wael!

DO NOT USE Kallums

DO NOT USE Kallums. I would leave zero stars if I could. They quoted for a bathroom project, we paid them a £15k deposit to proceed. They did a minimal amount of work, then their estimated costs increased by £25k. We told them that we would need to find another supplier as we could not afford this increased cost. They initally agreed to refund our deposit minus a small amount of cost they said they had incurred, but after chasing them for 4 weeks with no response they have now said they will not refund any of the deposit. We are now progressing a legal route to recover our funds. Be warned.

You first contacted us in May 2024 with a clear vision and timeline, and we proceeded with an initial deposit. However, delays with your interior designer prevented finalising specifications despite multiple follow-ups. Please note that our prices remained unchanged, but your budget dropped by almost 30%.
Over seven months, we made several site visits to Brighton, demolished four bathrooms, knocked down a wall, cleared waste with a 12-yard skip, and had our team working on-site for more than 10 days with all the building materials needed for the work - our investment far exceeded the deposit paid. Throughout this process, we accommodated ever-changing requests and demands, doing everything possible to meet your expectations. In December, you cancelled the project due to financial constraints. We offered a partial credit note, which was declined. Given everything, we have done, we feel this review completely unfair and unjust.
We understand frustrations can arise, but we have always acted in good faith and remain committed to resolving this matter respectfully.
