Great gym great equipment and friendly staff and members

The gym is very nice and it’s very clean and open 7 days a week so Ive been a year with them now so I like it

The maryhill gym has a good range of equipment and even at busier times you’re not waiting too long to use what you need. I’ve been training with Rhona and love it. She listens to what I want to achieve, and has created a plan that I actually enjoy (so much so that I even go before work which is something I never thought I would say!). She really goes above and beyond to make sure you feel comfortable and know what you’re doing. Would highly recommend JD maryhill and training with RhonaFit

I have been working with Rhona since the end of January. She has gotten me to a place where I enjoy going to the gym at opening, learning about foods and how to stay in a deficit but also enjoy a sweet treat every now and again. She’ll never make you feel silly for all your silly little questions and keeps you accountable each week, especially if your steps aren’t up to par 🙃👀 . Highly recommend her if you’re thinking of getting a PT, prepare for the burn in your ass with her step ups 😂

I really love coming to this gym, all of the facilities are great and it has everything I need. I started a personal training programme with Rhonafit. She really takes time to understand an individuals goals and not only has made me the strongest version of myself but the most confident. Would highly recommend her to any girls wanting to start their fitness journey.

I’ve been a regular here since it opened and it’s steadily got worse over that time. The amount of Staff including Managers that this place has had is unreal. Many issues including:
1). Roof constantly leaks during heavy rainfall in various places.
2). Lack of staff. I was in Sat 4th & Sun 5th April 26. Didn’t see any on duty staff. The front desk is never manned. When I was leaving on Sat 4th there was a customer who was standing at the desk for over 10 mins who had rang the bell numerous times to try and get a member of staff.
3). In the free wights room a lot of the machines could do with an upgrade. Loose cables on the Lat Pulldown machines plus wobbly knee pad supports.
4). The white weight machines next to the cardio area often have missing pins on the weight stacks and very few are attached by the securing cables.
5). Gym etiquette is almost non existent. Many members don’t put the weight discs back or dumbbells back in their correct place on the rack. Nothing gets done about it, on the few occasions that you see a staff member they walk into the weights room and replace the weights discs back onto the disc racks and walk away. No one gets banned.
6). Very few actually wipe down benches or machines after they have sweated on them.
7). Mould on the walls in the free weights room.
8). Around the bottom of the walls are large black tiles and many of them fall off constantly and just get left propped up against the walls.
There are many more things to point out but nothing gets done anyway.
There are much better gyms in the Glasgow area.

Rejoined 2nd time at JD gym Glasgow North as it’s my nearest point and I like the environment and facilities. However, morning classes used to be really nice and they were worth to attend especially if you couldn’t make it in the evening; unfortunately, some classes have disappeared or moved to the evening (yoga used to be 2-3 times a week on weekdays, Pilates, JD Box). I hope these classes could be back for customers whose morning is available. On the other hand, I observed some customers do not clean the equipment after using it or do not use a personal gym towel. All sweat gets there and it’s very disgusting. It should be compulsory.
Equipment is good, some need to be repaired but there’s always a sign to prevent the customer. Abductors machine should be replaced as it is very damaged.
Women’s changing room is ok but again, some customers are very irresponsible and uneducated leaving the toilets dirty or paper on the floor.
Anyway! Staff is always nice and helpful. I appreciate it. I think here the negative point would be that there are some customers who do not follow the rules or common sense and the lack of classes in the morning.

The gym is fantastic.
For someone who wishes to have a lot of variety in your workouts I doubt there is another gym in town that can beat JD. The classic equipment that any gym has to have is here(weights, resistance machines) but also a lot of other areas for other types of skill/sport practice. Two areas with calisthenic equipment with bars of different heights and a very spacious studio to do acrobatics, dance and such. If your workout has an element of variety where you do diverse disciplines and varying types of workouts, the gym serves perfectly to provide all that could be necessary and for the price it is a bargain. The only downside is that its a bit far off from the city centre, not difficult to get to but definitely less of a problem for someone with a car. 5/5

After many gyms I’ve seen, this one is average. Some machines need maintenance and should be kept in better condition. For example, weight labels, handles, and rubber parts on some machines need to be fixed or replaced.
There should also be more sanitation points. Additionally, some essential machines are limited—there are only one or two of them. Because of this, you sometimes have to wait for a long time, and during that time your body cools down.
The showers are another issue: they have either only hot water or cold water. You can’t adjust the temperature, so you either burn or freeze.
Overall, it’s an average gym. Yes, it is clean, but it needs more care and attention to be better.

Rhona made my experience here so amazing, training with her has been so much fun. She creates a safe space for clients and makes it such a welcoming environment.
