I have a FREEHOLD house with a grounds service charge through first port. When I bought it the service charge had been paid in advance by the previous owner as a gift. First port trousered this
Fast forward to last year when I was in hospital being treated for cancer and a bill went missing for the half yearly charge. I am up to date and owe no grounds service charges. Since then JB Is Leitch have tried to extract £1400 from me. I'm not a leaseholder. The latest email today threatens possession of my property.
This is nonsense as it mainly mortgaged with a first charge to my building society.
I'm a legal graduate but this sort of communication is harassment and very frightening when you have been dealing with a life threatening illness
There are hundreds of reports of their behaviour yet they are still using ambiguous points of law. I will also be reporting them to the SRA.

Absolutely dreadful company. Avoid RMG and these parasites that they use.

This week I received a letter from JB Leitch demanding £473 for what started as a £100 ground rent payment that I was completely unaware of due to an administrative error by my solicitor and Home Ground, I had no idea the original £100 was even outstanding before it was passed to JB Leitch and hundreds of pounds of charges were added.

Trying to explain this to JB Leitch was pointless. They showed no interest in the circumstances and were completely unwilling to help, causing a great deal of unnecessary stress.

Thankfully, Home Ground accepted that an error had been made, withdrew JB Leitch’s charges and corrected their records.

It’s extremely concerning that Home Ground would use a firm whose Trustpilot profile consists entirely of one-star reviews. Had Home Ground not intervened, JB Leitch seemed perfectly happy to pursue nearly five times the original amount for a debt I didn’t even know existed.

It’s hard to see how this sort of behaviour is considered reasonable or proportionate, and it raises serious questions about the business practices of this firm and the oversight of companies that operate this way.

If your business model is to ignore legitimate questions and bombard people with threats until they give up and pay, then you've nailed it.

We paid the actual estate charge immediately. The only amount left was hundreds of pounds in administration fees, legal costs and interest, which we formally disputed. We asked for the contractual basis of those charges, an itemised breakdown and an explanation of how they had been calculated.

We received absolutely nothing in response.

Instead, the letters kept coming. Threats of court action. Threats of additional costs. Contacting our mortgage lender. Everything except an answer to the questions we had asked.

Apparently, asking for evidence before handing over another £660 is too much to expect.

This has been one of the most unnecessarily aggressive and frustrating experiences I've dealt with. Communication appears to consist solely of template letters demanding money while completely ignoring any correspondence that doesn't involve making a payment.

I sincerely hope nobody else has to deal with this firm.

JB Leitch refuse to reply to any communications, hang up on you on the telephone, invent charges. They are a disgrace to the Solicitors profession.

Absolutely vile lying firm. I explained I was unemployed with no money on SSP with no help. They promised to call me back. They are now making me homeless. I need to eat before I pay for a building their clients do nothing too. Vile despicable liars.

They sent threatening illegal letters to me ( and others in group) after being instructed illegally by Taray group - they carried out no due diligence at all, didn’t even check if true . Eventually after weeks of formal threats of lease removal on our homes and demands they found out they were invalid and illegal . No apology no notice confirming - really threatening letters - also breached data protection ( great for a solicitor) avoid them

This company is ruthless, rude and incompetent. I dont know how they can put additional charges on a bill when you been sent to them because your finding it hard to pay. There must be a better way First Port can recovery amounts. They even put the phone down on me NO professionals Conduct. The abuse harassment puts you under even more stress. They are not helpful they are debt collectors using the name solicitors to cover up what they are actually doing. They have no empathy for any situation you bring to them. DISGUSTING company and the people working in there is the same.

A minus star rating would be more appropriate. They are debt collectors working with FirstPort property service provider. Any delay with service charge payment and the debt is handled by Leitch. They will add their own list of charges which are virtually impossible to challenge and as a bonus not communicate in a good way. Appalling.

My debit was only £2157.00 and they claimed as their charges £3,441.91, despite paying same with lodging a CCJ against my name they even added another £2,626.00 to my account through First port property Property Management as legal fees for which I'm disputing, I do not know whether they do have a cut from it

This firm claims to be solicitors but are actually debt collectors of the worst kind. They have actively refused payment by inventing new charges every time I agree the amount to be paid, and then refuse the payment for the already agreed amount unless I pay the new charges on top. You cannot speak to anyone with any agency and their sole purpose appears to be extortion. I am pregnant and extremely stressed by this situation. As a company they combine severe incompetence with cold racketeering. If you ever see a letter with their name on it, I suggest you contact your original creditor and pay the sum immediately.

I have received a letter before action from JB Leitch demanding payment within 10 days for outstanding Service Charges with additional extorionate Fees added.
Their client, Taray Properties Ltd, alleges to be our management company, although all they have done is send threatening pieces of paper purporting to be invoices.
Taray has instructed this cowboy outfit to chase the alleged debt together with extorionate, almost laughable, fees for doing nothing apart from sending a letter!
Due diligence was not done by JB Leitch into Taray to see if their claims are valid. No documents or details sent to support the alleged claim.
Also as solicitors, JB Leitch should know our Freeholder has been placed into liquidation and all leaseholders would have been instructed by the administrator not to pay ANYTHING TO ANYONE.
Given I don't owe the amounts stated in the claim I am of the opinion that JB Leitch are no more than Scammers and Bullies, the lot of them. How they are still 'acting' as solicitors is beyond me.
Letters of complaint being sent to all the relevant organisations ie SRA etc.
Our local MP has now contacted JB Leitch for a comment on this matter that has also been raised by my neighbour.

dreadful company - avoid!!

Truly evil firm who tried to scam my parents out of over £10,000. Both MP Justin Madders (who has raised concerns about them in parliament), and my local MP will be receiving letters about their shocking conduct, as well as a complaint to the SRA. My heart goes out to anyone who has had to deal with them. How are you not embarrassed to be working for such an organisation?

Scumbags.
Not professional. Not intelligent. Simply scumbags. Avoid at all costs and never buy a leasehold with Firstport.

This firm charged a relative >£500 pounds as pre-legal fees. What is pre-legal? They did nothing!!
An email has been sent to them to explain that the service charge was paid slightly late, however the late payment date was already agreed with the service charge company. In their letter they confirmed that service charge was paid but this is their pre-legal fees!!!The amount is clearly for writing this letter to say that money was paid and threatens for further action if their pre-legal fees are paid!!!

Unlimited legal cost charged by JB Leitch an even 187% legal cost of underlying amount.
