The switch to ID didnt go well NO Broadband for 2 Days
Support was no help told me Broadband not activated then your Router is faulty they did offer to send a router to Test which I refused as I know my Router is fine was getting 900mb with old isp then nothing with ID
I left things as were next day I went to work when I returned in evening Broadband was working as by magic the Faulty Router was working

Semi reliable internet, slow support, expensive

I started having major packet loss issues over 2 weeks ago making the internet borderline unusable. After buying a new router and cables as they wouldn't escalate the issue until I did so they only just got back to me to say there is a problem with the line provider but no ETA on a fix as there's a backlog. In the meantime they're still charging me £54/mo for shoddy internet.

In response to IDNet: Why was half of this information not relayed to me via email? There was over a week between "we'll get back to you" and getting an update just to be told there's no ETA on a fix and in the meantime you're still billing me. Your reply is also passive aggressive and unprofessional however I've reworded the review to be clearer.

We are sorry you have been having trouble with your circuit however, your review is slightly misleading and I appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation.

You contacted us with connectivity issues and while we were initially testing the circuit it was showing 'Up' and stable but with the occasional disconnection. The Team did not deny you had a fault however, all circuit tests passed and the supplier City Fibre also stated no fault was being detected. The next step therefore was to rule out any possible internal causes so, as per our standard procedure, it was recommended you test alternate hardware where possible to rule it out.
Once you had tested alternate kit and confirmed the issue remained, the case was pushed back to City Fibre repeatedly and they finally identified an unusual common issue which will require attenuators installing at the fibre exchange because they see errors between GPON and xGPON networks. As yet, they have not advised an ETA for this to be carried out.

As you can see, the fault is not with the IDNet network as your review alludes to but with the Supplier (City Fibre) network.
Unfortunately, not all fault cases can be quickly identified and resolved especially where all diagnostic tests pass and where network issues have not yet been substantiated and reported out. Local checks are recommended to help customers avoid the risk of possible charges where an engineer may attend and find no fault or that the fault is determined to be caused by local hardware/wiring etc.

We do apologise for the amount of time it took to get the issue nailed down. The Support Team have been continuously fighting your corner with the supplier, pushing back at them when they repeatedly insisted there was nothing wrong and closed the fault case on us twice before finally revealing the common network fault in play.

As opposed to the other Suppliers you have recently migrated away from and left similar reviews for, I am proud to say our Support Team have performed superbly and, in their diligence to provide you with the best possible support, have provided you with an answer to the issue at hand.

I would also like to assure you that although we may not be the cheapest ISP in the market, we do ensure we remain as competitive as possible and feel that our prices are honest and fairly reflect the value of our service. Not only are we virtually the only supplier offering 1 month contract on City Fibre network but if you compare our compliment of packages with our closest rivals, you will see we do actually offer very competitive pricing.

I see you have submitted a migration away and we wish you the 'All the Best' with your future supplier.

Brilliant Service Makes Them a No-Brainer

Simply a fantastic experience. The ordering process was easy, and their customer service is genuinely amazing. I had to leave IDNET for 18 months and was stuck with Virgin Media - I couldn't wait to come back. They even dealt with Virgin for me to make the switch effortless. The engineers were polite and professional. Highly recommended!

Dropping out with Ethernet connected

I've been having issues with the internet dropping out on random occasions even while an Ethernet is connected I emailed the company and they suggested doing multiple tests while they have done nothing on their end I said I can't connect the Ethernet to my laptop and it does not have an Ethernet port and they expect me to borrow or buy an adapter from a friend which is ridiculous because they have done absolutely nothing to help other than ask me to do all these tests on my end

Decided to go with IDNet after seeing good reviews online.
Very easy to order online. Engineers arrived at specified day and time and installed router in room of my choice.
Delighted with speeds so far.

maybe better than other companies

maybe better than other companies, but we pay for 80-20, and we get 50-14, and we are being told that its normal, also sometimes we are losing connection for some minutes during the day. very expensive in comparison with other companies in the big cities.

SAS Superstars & iDNET Super Fast!

Scott, Alex and Summer (SAS) from CityFibre who installed our iDNET service were absolutely brilliant and Alex and Scott in particular were a comedy duo! Their workmanship was outstanding, mixed with listening to their camaraderie as they got on with their individual tasks - they were funny but worked effectively as a team and quickly finished the job to our satisfaction.
We opted for a fast package which hands down trumps all over our previous supplier Virgin with whom we had to use a booster to get a signal up to our third floor but with iDNET and their superior router - I’ve removed the booster for our old system as with iDNET we simply do not need the signal boosting - even in the roof! I’ve even tested it in the garden and get great speeds out there too!
We highly recommend iDNET and CityFibre who installed it.
The whole family can stream to their hearts content with no buffering on several different devices all about the house and the speed is super fast. Highly recommended! 10/10

Unjust £85 Charge and Lack of Transparency

I am formally raising a complaint regarding an unjustified £85 “aborted visit” charge applied by IDNET following a failed installation attempt by their partner, CityFibre.

To summarise: CityFibre engineers arrived for the scheduled fibre installation and proposed a limited setup—drilling into the living room wall and placing the fibre box near the nearest socket. I reluctantly agreed to this to avoid further delays. However, shortly afterwards, one of the engineers returned to take a photo of the area, stating it required approval from their manager due to renovation work taking place in the flat. Despite the area being safe, accessible, and fully prepared, they later informed me that their manager had refused to proceed on “health and safety” grounds. The engineers then left without carrying out any installation. Before leaving, one of them assured me that no charge would be applied for the visit, and if a charge did appear, it would be refunded.

After contacting IDNET about the failed installation, I requested to pause or cancel the contract. They responded that cancellation was possible, but I would still be required to pay the £85 “aborted visit” charge, claiming that CityFibre had passed this cost on to them. To verify this, I contacted CityFibre directly, who confirmed that no charge had been passed to IDNET in relation to this visit.

I relayed this information to IDNET and was told they needed to confirm it with their manager. A week passed with no response, so I followed up. They replied saying they were still “awaiting confirmation.” Another week went by with no update, but I then received a payment reminder for the £85 charge. I contacted them again and was finally told: “Unfortunately, the charge has been passed on to ourselves due to the engineer being turned away for Health and Safety, so will stand and need to be paid.”

This explanation is highly misleading. I did not turn the engineers away—they left on their own decision based on internal procedures. IDNET’s explanation not only contradicts the actual events but is also directly at odds with the statement from CityFibre. This raises serious concerns about IDNET’s transparency, communication, and customer handling.

Despite multiple attempts on my part to clarify the situation and provide supporting information, IDNET has failed to investigate properly or acknowledge the contradiction. Their communication has been slow, unhelpful, and ultimately dismissive.

This experience has caused unnecessary stress, wasted time, and financial frustration. It has also significantly undermined my trust in IDNET as a broadband provider. I expected a far higher standard of professionalism and integrity. Based on how this issue has been handled, I cannot recommend IDNET and would strongly advise others to be cautious before signing up with them.
