The worst card I ever had

The worst card I ever had! Refused to block payments for non authorized automatic payments for cell service, and to refund for an air ticket transaction cancelled within 30 seconds. They do not reply to claims online, and their telephone operators are plain rude.

Be careful

Be careful, someone stole my identity and took 2 credit cards with HomeTrust. He only had my name, the two credit cards are with 2 different addresses and 2 different phone numbers. How could he have his cards? In addition, I contacted Home Trust 5 times and for 2 weeks they have done nothing. However, since I gave them MY phone number, they call me to tell me that I have a credit card overdue and pressure me to pay it. Very bad service and full of broken promises.

Home Trust Refinancing

Marcello & I were extremely happy with the service we received from Home Trust. We were approved of refinancing and are able to have a fresh start. I would not hesitate to recommend Home Trust regarding refinancing and setting up a new mortgage. Many. Thanks to Grace, Javier, Michelle and the entire team at Home Trust.

I had fraud on my card and reported it…

I had fraud on my card and reported it immediately. I was told that my issues were not covered under US Consumer Protection Act. I had a Canadian card and the fraud occurred in Mexico. I cancelled card as I could not trust them to reject fraudulent charges in future,

Home Trust only has one home appraiser…

Home Trust only has one home appraiser who doesn't understand the English language and mixes up his clients and phone numbers shows up to people's homes without an appointment and then says you did have an appointment but of course we have everything documented to prove that this appraiser is either language deficient or something else but this is 100% not professional how could a bank only have one appraiser? Completely unprofessional!!

They are nothing more than loan sharks

They are nothing more than loan sharks. They will rape you over and over again, even so far as breaking the law. One issue? They insisted they collect money from me to pay property tax then failed to pay the town.

They refused to change my payment date to coincide with my pay days, the second after midnight, they started foreclosure including home inspection, filing fees, legal fees, etc.

DO NOT BORROW FROM THEM!!!

Worst company! Must avoid at all cost!

I have the mortgage with this company and one of the requirements before getting approve was home insurance which I totally understand. I provide everything but they charge me additional insurance they said by default without informing me additional 700 a month and they said I don't have the insurance. But I sent them before getting approve. I cannot believe it. I wasn't aware that I'm getting bankrupt and me paying every month for the mortgage and tax with them but they are not paying my tax. I was informed by the town that I'm getting the penalty. Worst worst worst. do not get any mortgage from this company. Must avoid at all cost!!!!

The Home Trust visa card is the best i have ever had. I had something put on my card i didnt know. I called customer service and they fixed the problem right away. They really stand behind their products and their customers Excellent service Thank You

Highly inconsistent Oaken Financial customer service

Up to March 13, 2025, Revenue Canada still DOES NOT HAVE my correct Tax Free Savings Account updated/correct contribution room information from Oaken Financial. All banks were supposed to have submitted their 2024 Tax Free Savings Account information to Revenue Canada Agency by Feb 28, 2025!

When I called Oaken customer service on Feb 27, Anne told me that 2024 TFSA information from Oaken should have been sent to CRA mid-end of Feb this year. Then Chantal said on Feb 28 that Oaken sends this information to CRA by the END OF MARCH!! . I asked to be contacted by a Supervisor, named Natasia or Naveen regarding when did Oaken ACTUALLY SENT OUT THIS INFORMATION to CRA as NO ONE COULD TELL ME FOR SURE & CONSISTENTLY!!!!!

On March 3, a CRA agent named Stephanie confirmed to me that no TFSA information with my Name & SIN number was received or being processed, etc.

I called Oaken again in the evening of March 3, Asia told me TFSA information from 2024 should have been sent to CRA the last 2 weeks of Feb. Asia said she would send reminder to Supervisor Natasia/Naveen that I am still waiting for their calling me back as per my request.

I called back an unknown number 289271xxxx right after someone at this number called me at 1pm on March 4. The recorded greeting indicated that they apparently are Home Trust (same to Oaken with different name, Home Bank as well, all same). I left 2 voice messages that they ''just call my number seconds ago'' & another voice message that I picked up their call 1 minute ago & they ''DID NOT SAY ANYTHING WHATSOEVER'', NOT EVEN A HELLO!!!! Nobody got back to me from this number ALL DAY!. When I called this number multiple times on March 3, NOBODY EVER ANSWERED TILL THE AUTOMATIC MESSAGE SAID "This office is now closed" after 5pm.

Same with a few other Home Trust/Oaken phone numbers that I keep. NO ONE EVER ANSWERED TO ANY OF THESE CALLS I MADE ALL DAY on March 3.

Oaken customer service has been highly inconsistent, incompetent most of the time & deceptive/incorrect information had been given to me a few times before. I will be so gladly to give my business to someone else with more satisfactory customer service. Oaken has totally ignored my previous multiple requests to have an automated telephone banking system so that we can perform simple tasks such as checking balance, monitoring fund movements, & so on WITHOUT BEING INTERROGATED EVERY TIME WHEN WE NEED TO DO EVERY LITTLE SUCH THINGS WITH 6-10 "verification" questions.

IF I WAS AWARE OF THIS KIND OF CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS & NEGATIVE EXPERIENCES WITH OAKEN`S HIGHLY CUSTOMER UNFRIENDLY OFFICE CONTACT ACCESS/COMPLAINT PROCESS, I WOULD NEVER WANTED TO GIVE OAKEN MY BUSINESS !!!

They owe me money

I paid off the secured Visa and they still took out the payment the next month. They debited my bank account but did not deposit the credit balance. They said they sent a cheque 30 days ago and I have still not received it. I call customer service and they were not at all helpful. Avoid dealing with this company at all costs.

This bank is so ghetto

This bank is so ghetto. The phone line places you on long hold or disconnects you. Service is horribly incompetent. If you lose your card while travelling, don't expect any support because all they will do is make matters 10X worse and undermine VISA themselves. If you feel you already have enough frustration in your life, I recommend a different bank

Wouldn't recommend this card to my worst enemy...

Literally got this card for a back-up travel card when I lived in Canada. I permanently moved to Australia 5+ years ago, and the card has been safely stowed here since. My phone # on file (my parents) received a phone call for me so I called all the way from Australia through the heavy time difference, and I can't call 1888/1800 #'s (no Canadian companies seem to understand this). Only to be told there are TWO transactions worth hundreds of dollars that I'm overdue to pay. I laughed and told them it's impossible that I made those transactions as I live in Australia, and I can't shop at Staples OBVIOUSLY. They said it is probably too late to dispute these clearly fraudulent transactions as.... it's been too long? OK but NO email and it didn't raise ANY alarms that two random charges were made when the card has been open a decade and never been used? GROSS NEGLIGENCE. I tried to call to get this sorted and they just put me through 3x to wrong departments then I was on hold for an hour and realised with the time difference it was after 8pm and the office was actually closed, so I was on hold for nothing. Company has refused to provide me a local contact number rather than 1888, so I get to do the whole thing again tomorrow. Home Trust, if you think I'm going to pay these charges you are dreaming.

I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy.

Was great for years, now garbage.

edit: Possibly fixed after complaining to VISA about Home Trust. It's been a couple months and I haven't had spurious fraud blocks. I'll rerate higher after a couple more months if everything is ok still.

Was great for years, now useless since sometime after summer 2024, 75% of transaction blocked by what I assume to be a crappy AI system.

This is a horrible credit card…

This is a horrible credit card company!!!! I've wasted 2 years of my life trying to use this card and it never works! Run away from this company as fast as you can!!!
My last transaction was denied because there was a $0.70 charge that was "suspicious"?! WTH!!!! I have a credit balance! Gawd I hate this company!!!!

Terrible credit card that never works

Terrible credit card that never works. Everything is flagged as " fraud" and even after you verify/ confirm the charge via email AND text message the credit card STILL doesn't work. Their 24/7 customer service line only reports stolen cards and cannot do anything else. All customer service knows how to say is " please go to/ contact the bank in the morning during operation hours". Well this doesn't really help when you're trying to use your card overeseas or trying to make time sensitive online reservations. The only benefit of this card is it doesn't charge foreign transaction fees but the problem is it never works!

Customer service isn't in their…

Customer service isn't in their vocabulary.
They will lock your card without notice on a weekend leaving you stranded out of town. Their call center can't do a dam thing other then tell you your balance out side business hours, they are completely useless!

My brother was in a coma in the icu, i booked a flight with my debit but could get a rental car or hotel because Payments take 4 days to clear your account.
They told me at western union it's 24hrs, I drove 3 hours return trip paid to make the payment with them on the phone and they were liing the entire time still 4 days till it showed I was stranded at the airport across the country with no way to get to my Brother and no where to stay
