I will never use this company again. They advertise ebooks in epub format. They don't say that they are drm protected. In order to read them you have to download ADOBE DIGITAL EDITIONS. WARNING Don't buy ebooks as it is a waste of time.

I bought an ebook from hive.co.uk and chose PDF as the format. PDF stands for 'portable document format' - in other words, a file containing a document that can be read by a variety of software across a number of operating systems. What I got instead was a file that is clearly not a portable document - it can be read only by one application, Adobe Digital Editions, and only on 'authorised' computers.

It seems that, in their fear of piracy, ebook sellers like hive.co.uk are now treating their paying customers as potential thieves, who must be locked down to the fullest extent to prevent file sharing.

This is unfortunate. It greatly diminishes the experience of shopping at hive.co.uk - why would anyone want to be treated like a thief? But it gets worse. Much, much worse.

If the inconvenience of the restrictions weren't bad enough, the instructions in hive.co.uk to download Adobe Digital Editions are wrong. Furthermore, you have to hunt around the Adobe website to download the MacOS or Windows versions of its programme, as Adobe assumes you want to download the iOS or Android versions.

To add misery to misery, the MacOS version of Adobe Digital Editions is an embarrassment. Had it been launched in the early 90s for Windows 3.1, it would have been panned by reviewers. The clunkiest interface and threadbare functionality makes it evident that this is not a priority application for Adobe and makes you wonder whether your PDF ebook purchases will have a limited shelf-life.

To top it all off, I then searched online for a pdf of the book I had just purchased and within seconds found a fully unlocked pdf of the book, identical to the one I had purchased and readable in any pdf file viewer (including all the benefits of anotating etc). So, in spite of all the hurdles hive.co.uk had me jump, the horse has truly bolted.

I bought a calendar online on the 13th of December and after one month I didn't receive anything.
I'm going to buy it somewhere else, I just hope they will refund me at least

I've been using Hive for just over a year now, placing over 30 orders with them and I cannot fault their service. On the very rare occasions I have had issues (2 issues caused by couriers and not the fault of Hive themselves), their customer service team has been very quick to help and put things right which is all you can ask for. Great selection, good prices, speedy dispatch and delivery, friendly and helpful customer service. A far better experience than buying things from the company named after the world's largest rainforest and their subsidiaries.

I bought a book yesterday at 2.30pm free delivery. 10.50am today it’s been delivered. Incredible service and definitely well worth writing a review for 👍🏻☺️

Hive is an excellent place to buy books, often matches Amazon but has a nice element that you can donate a % of your purchase price to a local bookstore. The shipping is free and it always comes super fast. Couldn't fault them :)

Ordering with Hive is always flawless. Easy to order, arrives fast and I love their ethos for paying authors and independent bookshops.

Hive is my go-to online book shop. Their prices are competitive, delivery is free (big win for me), customer support is excellent, they offer senior and student discount, and they support local book shops. I used to buy books from Amazon, but they're ethically questionable, and I found that my books would often turn up very scuffed; they never do with Hive.

Love using Hive as an Amazon alternative. The books are always in great condition, reasonably priced and delivery is fast.

I love this company and have bought from them on many occasions. Have had no issues at all and books have arrived in perfect condition in just a few days. I like the fact that over 55s get 10% discount and I especially like that a percentage of sales go to my local high street book shop. Prices are comparable (and sometimes better) than the other well known online book seller.

Excellent service! I ordered a book that was out of stock. After a month they emailed to update me on the order. In the end I did have to cancel but was having a bit of trouble on the site so I emailed to ask if they could help and within an hour everything was sorted and my money was back in my account. I will definitely be using this site again - thank you Charlotte!

I am giving Hive 2 stars as the book did eventually arrive today, on 22nd July 2022. The order was placed on 24th November 2021. This was for a book that was in print and available elsewhere. I wanted to try Hive to support local bookstores. I could not find this title locally. I asked Hive in January about the book and they asked me to put in a claim via Royal Mail. Basically, if the book gets lost in the post, it is on you. I would never use the company again and would certainly not recommend them. I wish I had taken the poor reviews more seriously before buying from this retailer.

Ordered Demon slayer manga box volumes 1 - 23 on october in the far 2021.

Since then it was constant delays, waiting to be reprinted, stock expected in december, then july.

I was happy to wait as long as they needed to get the stock back, until they decided to cancel my order out of nowhere.

This item is widely available anywhere now online from at least April 2022 but for some reason they dont get them to sell to custumers whom preordered.

Very disappointed from this company, never ever order from them again.

I placed my first order with hive the other day and i was not disappointed, my order was shipped within a few hours, I ordered a poison ivy Funko Pop and it was so well packaged, overall delighted with my item and the service was just fantastic, will definitely be back! 😊
