One Year with HeyGen: Disappointment, Losses, and Broken Expectations

If it were possible to give a rating of -100, that's exactly what I would give HeyGen.

After using this service for over a year, I lost a significant amount of both money and time.

I don't even need to talk about the poor quality of the service itself—anyone who has actually used HeyGen already knows what I'm talking about. But what disappointed me even more was the way they treat their customers.

During my time as a paying customer, I discovered several practices that I consider dishonest. I documented everything, presented clear evidence to their support team, and challenged them directly. They were unable to provide any convincing response.

If you ever come across the name HeyGen, my advice is simple: run away and don't look back. There are now plenty of AI avatar services that do everything HeyGen does, but with much better quality, greater reliability, and far better customer support.

It's a real shame. This company had the potential to become one of the best in the industry. Instead, they chose to treat their earliest supporters—the customers who believed in them from the very beginning and invested their money in helping the platform grow—as if they didn't matter.

In my opinion, their time is already over before it truly began. Loyal customers should never be treated this way.

Do not recommend: HeyGen

HeyGen advertises that you use your credits for video dubbing but when there is an error for downloading, you have to regenerate (which costs you more credits) and after having regenerated a video 6 times, on multiple videos, I ended up with only a few videos that came out good. If you are straight face into the camera without movement whatsoever, this software can work for you but keep it mind their customer service team is not great. If you require lip syncing with movement, I recommend finding another product. Overall poor review given their software and customer service.

We took a subscription to create an onboarding video for our new employees

We took a subscription to create a digital onboarding process for our new employees. It was a choice between Synthesia and HeyGen. We CHOSE HeyGen, only to face long rendering wait time. However I want to give credits to Chris who was quick on the responses with the services. It still did not solve the issue over 10 days of wait time and it could not render a 27 minute video. A second try and its been 24 hours and still did not get through, so we shared the video id, which was cancelled and we were told to regenrate the video. The third time and its the same issue all over again... Then comes "messy", stating you can just start all over or choose a higher subscription so you will be given priority. Like for real? Wouldn't recommend HeyGen if your looking to make moves quick and have a platform trustworthy to get your work done.

it didn't convince me

I used it for an interview-type channel, with people telling their stories. It's easy and intuitive. The lipsync is good, but very expensive. After using up the 12 minutes, you can still make videos, but the lip-syncing and text quality isn't the same. I used it every other month, with four subscriptions. I stopped because it uses up credits in ways I don't understand. And it's extremely limited for the price you pay. I don't use it anymore.

Estou deixando esta avalaliação por que paguei por uma promessa e não recebi

Estou deixando esta avaliação de 1 estrela para alertar outros potenciais clientes, especialmente os que não falam inglês, sobre a minha experiência extremamente negativa com a HeyGen.

O motivo principal da minha assinatura foi a funcionalidade de clonagem de voz. No entanto, a ferramenta é completamente disfuncional para o idioma Português (Brasil). Apesar de todas as configurações da minha conta estarem corretamente definidas para "Português", a plataforma processa os áudios gravados em português como se fossem em inglês, utilizando um modelo "Multilingue" que resulta em uma voz inutilizável, com sotaque robótico e completamente artificial.

Ao encontrar este problema técnico grave, que impede o uso principal da ferramenta para mim, tentei solucioná-lo de todas as formas. A situação se tornou inaceitável quando, após dias de tentativas e frustrações, solicitei formalmente o reembolso do meu dinheiro, conforme meu direito de consumidor por um produto que não entrega o que promete.

Para minha surpresa e completa decepção, meu pedido de reembolso foi completamente ignorado. Não recebi nenhuma resposta, nenhum suporte, nenhuma tentativa de solução. Um descaso total com o cliente.

O resultado final foi a perda de dias de trabalho, atraso nos meus projetos e a sensação de ter feito o pior investimento possível em uma ferramenta que se vende como "dinâmica" e "fácil", mas que na prática é travada, confusa e ineficaz para usuários de língua portuguesa.

A falta de um produto funcional para o meu idioma, combinada com um suporte ao cliente inexistente que ignora ativamente os pedidos de reembolso, torna impossível recomendar a HeyGen. Aconselho a todos, especialmente à comunidade de língua portuguesa, que procurem outras alternativas, pois minha experiência foi de total descaso e prejuízo.Review Text:
I am leaving this 1-star review to warn other potential customers, especially non-English speakers, about my extremely negative experience with HeyGen.

The main reason for my subscription was the voice cloning feature. However, the tool is completely dysfunctional for the Portuguese (Brazil) language. Despite all my account settings being correctly set to "Portuguese," the platform processes audio recorded in Portuguese as if it were English, using a "Multilingual" model that results in a useless voice with a robotic and foreign accent.

After encountering this critical technical issue, which prevents me from using the tool for its primary purpose, I tried to resolve it in every possible way. The situation became unacceptable when, after days of frustration, I formally requested a refund for my investment, as is my consumer right for a product that does not deliver on its promise.

To my surprise and complete disappointment, my refund request was completely ignored. I have received no response, no support, and no attempt at a solution. A total disregard for the customer.

The end result has been lost work days, delays in my projects, and the feeling of having made the worst possible investment in a tool that markets itself as "dynamic" and "easy," but in practice is buggy, confusing, and ineffective for Portuguese-speaking users.

The lack of a functional product for my language, combined with non-existent customer support that actively ignores refund requests, makes it impossible to recommend HeyGen. I advise everyone, especially the Portuguese-speaking community, to look for alternatives, as my experience has been one of complete neglect and financial loss."For clarity, I am writing this review in English to ensure it is understood by a global audience. My primary use case for the platform is in my native language, Portuguese, for which the product has failed."

Amazingly awful support

A huge waste of time. I tries and tried over several weeks to create a useable, pro video. The platform will produce a great very splashy video .. but it will need editing. Some of the scene slides are just out of place. Then you might want to use one of your uploads, maybe a logo. Once you start editing it all falls apart. I mean each edit gets worse. The editor not only will not create the edits you are asking for it will continually add its own unrequested slides. The editor is a mess. If it was free it would still cost you in terms of your own time lost. BTW I was at the same time trying out Invideo - don't bother with this one either. It's a tough call to say which editor is worse, HeyGen or Invideo
