We unpacked our Henlays this morning. It was a nice surprise to find that Dan had part assembled the coop for us (thanks for that Dan). Also the parts were all perfectly precision cut with no swarf. So it only took approx 45 minutes to put together and then it was ‘wow’. It looks really very good when you stand back and look at it from the outside but when you lift off the side roof panel there’s just so much height and space and access compared to my old plastic henhouse. It will be so easy to clean. I’m so impressed with the thoughtful design. As the nest box is positioned at one end instead of the side it’s a narrower henhouse than most which meant we were able to assemble it on the lawn and then carry it into our walk-in run through the gate. This is quite a bonus because it means we can bring it out of the run for a good jet wash without drenching everything in the run. I also love the sheer height of the Henlays (about 5’ which is nearly as tall as me) which should make it nice and airy in there. The height means loads of room under the perches (about 30cm I guess) so I was able to put a good depth of bedding about 10cm down for extra insulation. I like that my rescue hens now have proper perches to hunker down on during those winter nights. Again the large nest box is a plus. It had saddened me once or twice to find an egg laid on the perch grid of my old henhouse as there was only a nest area for one hen. So hopefully that won’t happen in the future. All in all, the Henlays has turned out to be loads better than expected. And it’s great to deal with real people at the end of a phone line and to support British manufacturing and innovation.

Lovely sturdy chicken coop. Will last a long time easy to put together but in need of better instructions Particularly as models have changed.

Our exciting package arrived this morning, it is flat packed, my husband and I took two and half hours to build it, we are certainly not spring chickens ourselves and thought it would be much longer build project over a couple of afternoons.
It is wonderfully robust, easy to assemble, very sturdy and no tools needed as it uses just either large or small bolts and wings screws. So it is not possible to make a mistake on hole size. It looks fabulous and is heavy, so top tip is to build where you want it. Its construction has been so well thought out, it is made from recycled plastic and ticks the 'green' box. It won't rot, can be hosed down which makes it very easy to clean. It is so pretty, a stately home for Hens.
It comes in a variety of colours and delivery was so fast. They even give you tea breaks in the instructions. Thank you Henlays

I came across Libby when I was looking for some plastic coops for my hen boarding business which is only a few miles from Libby's home.
I rang her up and that same day(Sunday) she invited me to her home to have a look at the Henlays coop. She spoke very passionately about the fact the coops are made from recycled materials & they are made locally to her.
Both of these things are very important to me as is the comfort of my boarding hens and they certainly have no complaints about their top of the range hen hotel accommodation. They fit beautifully into my aviairies and have the added bonus of the hens being able to go underneath them so I lose no floor space. I have easy access into them as the roof lifts off both sides, the nesting box roof also comes off making egg collection easy and the whole thing is super easy to clean.
Highly recommend the coops - very sturdy and will last as many yrs as me!!

What a fantastic piece of engineering, and simple to put together, although a slightly outdated instruction manual for the updated coop design ... thankfully Libby was just a call away to help out.
My hens are loving it. It is warm inside, really good ventilation and no matter which direction the rain comes from, stays dry inside even with the large ventilation gap at the apex of the roof. They haven't learnt to use the perches as yet, as it is early days!
Invested in a ChickenGuard automatic door opener as well, which easily lifts the 12mm thick plastic door. I did find that due to condensation at night, that the door sticks a bit to the coop and doesn't slide down that well on it's own.
Other than that, I can't really fault it. It looks great where it is, had lots of comments from visitors and the kids love it!

What can I say except BRILLIANT in every way, so much so I'm going to buy another for my ducks. I've been searching for the ideal house for my girls for months and finally found it. The construction is strong and so practical yet beautiful to look at, its so easy to clean without having to sit on the floor or bend at the knees, the customer service was outstanding, nothing was to much bother for Libby even all my questions, my girls love it and so do, I would not hesitate in recommending this product.

Absolutely amazing product, the instructions are simple and easy to use and even tell you how well you are doing and when to reward yourself with a cuppa tea. 😄 The customer service was second to none which goes for the finish product too. The most stylish hen house I've ever had, oh and my hens love it too. So easy to clean. Thoroughly recommend it, wish I'd bought one years ago.

Henlay coops are fantastic. I love the fact you can paint them your own colour. They are very strong and hard wearing and as a result safe for the chickens at night. Easy to clean and maintain. Being made from recycled materials means that they are great for the environment too. What more could you ask!!

Our new coop arrived exactly as described on the promised day. My brilliant husband really enjoyed constructing it, and I only had to help a little towards the end of the operation. Apparently the instructions were really clear. The coop is tough as old boots! My girls will be cosy in the winter, though perhaps they were a little hot in the height of the summer.

Cannot fault either the coops or the service from Libby at Henlays. If you are looking for a good solid and minimal labour coop then these are the ones to go for.
