Appalling Service

Frankly, I think the service was actually appalling!

I made the reservation for 09th June at 10.00am on 31st May and this was confirmed by Lisa. At 08.30am on 09th June, I called again to make sure that everything was fine for a 10.00am pick-up and I was told that it was all booked in. I went to the property at 09.30am in order to bring everything up to street level to make it easier to load. At about 10.45am, I called to find out why no one had arrived and was then informed that the truck was coming from Croydon and wouldn't arrive before 11.45am.

At 11.50am I called again as still no one had arrive and was informed that they were on their way and would arrive in 10 minutes. At about 12.10pm, two very nice guys showed up and I asked why I had been kept waiting in the rain for nearly 2.5 hours. They then informed me that they had only been given my address 20 minutes prior to arriving at the property.

I will put up with most things, but being blatantly lied to for over 2 hours is unacceptable.

Booked over the phone with friendly agent who could arrange for urgent same day garden waste collection. I provided very clear photos and instructions as to the amount of waste that was equivalent to 8-9 jumbo bags that needed removal, and was quoted £170. They arrived in the time frame given but immediately increased the price to £370!! This is a horrible pressure scam. I told them to immediately leave my property. Luckily my regular rubbish removal company were able to squeeze me in and do this job for £180.

Workers were great

Workers were great, company is a joke on the other hand. I was given a quote via picture format and when they arrived i had less rubbish and the doubled the price. Very unprofessional felt sorry for the workmen who were fantastic.

Great People to Deal With

This company is so very helpful. A collection can be arranged at short notice at a time convenient to both parties. It is a relief to know one's unwanted bulky items will be recycled wherever possible & will not be fly tipped. Really good service & lovely people. Worth the money in my opinion.

Bait and switch pricing

They arranged a price of £200 based on photos provided, then phoned up just before pick up to tell me the price changed to £600+ based on the same photos. When refused, they were rude and cancelled.

Would not recommend..

I was given a quote via email after sending photos of the furniture, so I expected the price to be accurate. However, when the team arrived, they took photos, sent them to the office and significantly increased the price without a clear explanation.
This felt very misleading, as the original quote was based on the same information. They left without my furniture as I stood my ground and said I wouldn't pay more than I was quoted initially. The pricing approach felt opportunistic, particularly in a situation where customers may feel pressured to proceed once the team has already arrived. Especially when you’re trying to organise rubbish/furniture removal quickly and don’t have many options at short notice.

I had a very disappointing experience

I had a very disappointing experience with Handyrubbish.

I contacted them for a quote and sent clear photos of all the items that needed to be removed, so they had full visibility of the job from the start. While I was deciding, they emailed asking what price I was looking to pay and said they were “flexible.” However, when I made an offer, they refused it — which made that claim feel misleading.

Despite this, I went ahead and booked them. On the day, I received a call saying the final cost went from £126 (inc VAT) to over £200. This is a very wide and unclear price range considering they had already seen everything in advance.

To make matters worse, when the van arrived, it didn’t even have enough space to take the items.

Overall, the communication was inconsistent, pricing lacked transparency, and the service felt disorganised. This experience wasted my time and caused unnecessary stress. I would not recommend.

We work with both Luton and caged vans, and we always aim to make sure that proper scheduling and suitable vehicle allocation are in place for each collection.

Can I give zero stars

Turned up late. They contacted their boss and said as there was domestic rubbish it would be £80 extra which there wasn't. I agree a price from 140 to 180 pounds just to get rid of rubbish. They had to take everything through the house and that didn't stop them from banging into things. VERY UNFRIENDLY

Fast and efficient

I called to enquire about the removal of assorted items. The process was extremely easy and surprisingly fast. They booked me in for that same day. They arrived on time, called me beforehand and collected all the trash quickly.

They revised price well above quote

Sent photos to this company got a quote of £200 . On arrival they photographed the load again and the “office” phoned asking £375 . Sent them away as a quote is a legally binding agreement not an estimate. They should probably change their website to something more honest.

Competent clearance

Arrived the very next day after calling and collected all of the rubbish from my front garden. Driver was very helpful. Bear in mind what most others are saying. The quoted price was far cheaper than other firms until the driver turned up, when it doubled! However, after some polite negotiation the price was reduced to a figure I was happy to pay. Everybody happy!

The actual removal of the bulky item…

The actual removal of the bulky item was painless. With me it was the reception admin person who failed to send me an email to confirm booking which requires me to respond that I accept the booking and with out that the workmen turned up and I did not let them in until that email came into my inbox. Then even more painful waiting to send me an email to provide the bank details had to pay one of the workmen instead and send that as proof of payment instead. The workmen were very polite and did their job very quickly though. Shame about the reception/admin staff.

Really poor buisness module

Really poor buisness module, called me up on a shoot location to cancel a job because the team dont want to wait around till the agreed collection time. What kind of business runs a model like this because they can't be bothered. Didn't care that I said I would be unrecommending them to all my production clients/contacts. Poor Behaviour and communication.
