When I first started this process, I spoke with a Skyline Finance representative because I believed I was looking into a loan of more than $30,000 to pay off my creditors. I did not originally set out looking for a debt-settlement program.
During the conversation, I understood that my credit could recover within approximately 6 months to a year and that I could eventually return to normal financially and apply for credit again. I later realized that I had enrolled in a GRT Financial debt-settlement program, which works very differently from the loan I originally thought I was pursuing.
I have been making monthly payments into the program, but after all this time only three of my creditors have been settled. I now understand that money has to accumulate while settlements are negotiated, meaning this process can take much longer than I originally expected.
Had I clearly understood from the beginning how the program worked, how long the process could take, and what would happen to my credit during that time, I would not have enrolled.
I am disappointed because I made an important financial decision based on what I understood was being presented to me. Consumers considering this type of program should carefully read the entire agreement, ask exactly how long the program is expected to last, understand all fees, and make sure they understand the difference between a debt-consolidation loan and debt settlement before signing.
I hope GRT Financial and its marketing/referral partners will make these differences much clearer to future customers.
Update – September 29, 2026:
GRT Financial responded publicly to my review on September 21 stating that one of their specialists would be in touch to discuss my concerns further. It has now been eight days, and I have not received a call or follow-up from a specialist. I am still waiting for GRT to contact me and address the concerns raised in my review.

For several months refused to help with a creditor that filed a lawsuit, and kept my entire escrow for settlement fees when I canceled. Nearly 2k. Deal directly with the creditors and stay away from grt.

I feel that the process is taking to long and I need to keep my phone on mute at all times due to the number of calls I get from my creditors. It's just very exhausting. Other than that, I understand that you have processes in place on how to deal with the creditors and I just have to be patient and trust that you will deliver on your commitment.
