Find ANY Other Insurance Agency

About the worst experience EVER with an insurance company - do not waste your time or money. And any real estate agent that recommends them is just trying to get you a cheap quote (which will not be a realistic quote) to close the sale and get their commission.

Let's start with the quote while we were in the process of buying a house - initial quote sounded reasonable (about $2800 for homeowners insurance). ACTUAL cost once we bought the house - 90% more, almost double! When I asked why, the agent simply said the price always goes up when we do the final paperwork.

A month later, we got a cancellation notice. Our agent didn't call us, and he wouldn't TAKE our call - he texted and said to call their phone bank customer service (pretty sure they are a group of ladies in India). WHY are they cancelling our insurance? It turns out they want us to modify the decks - which are fully conforming to all state laws and local building code - so they just made up a reason to cancel the insurance. The agent still wouldn't take our calls.

The customer service bank is horrible - they don't know anything - they just read the letter I already have. No advice, no knowledge, and I was on the phone for about 45 minutes trying to get hold of someone on my scheduled call appointment. The system would randomly cut me off while I was trying to get to a human being. Over and over.

Then, we asked for a quote from a different carrier - and the agent made up some higher number - I called that SAME carrier and got a quote at 1/2 what he quoted. So we told him we would find another carrier, and he said they would require the same modifications. Not true - the new carrier is HALF the price and the agent returns our calls.

Now, the little details - Goosehead and Agent Chris couldn't even get our names right. Like many couples, we have different last names - and every piece of correspondence seemed to have a different combination of my name and my spouse's name. If he can't even get our NAMES right, what is going to happen with our policy? Oh, never mind, we already know - that turned out to be a total CF.

I could go on and on, but let's just sum it up here - find anyone else to insure your home. California Fair Plan is more fair than Goosehead insurance. The mafia would be more fair and kinder to work with. This is possibly the biggest scam that exists in homeowner's insurance. Run, run, RUN away. There ARE better options out there.

Your pricing is higher than most…

Pricing is higher than most insurance agencies, and charging an additional $199 fee simply to assist with obtaining a policy is disappointing. Paying for insurance coverage and then being required to pay an extra service fee on top of that feels unreasonable. It also raises concerns about transparency, particularly given that commissions are typically already earned through the insurers they represent.

Dishonest, no integrity

I had Goosehead for my home and auto insurance for several years. My broker, Phil Hernandez, was once excellent, and I referred business to him regularly. Unfortunately, something changed. He became unresponsive and unreliable, and I experienced serious concerns regarding honesty and integrity. When I contacted Goosehead directly for assistance, they declined to intervene. My experience over the last year or two with the company was COSTLY and disappointing.

Do not use this company

I started using Goosehead in TX. Moved to NC in 2022. I have tried two separate agents and have had terrible service. They both responded until I signed up with them, after that communication was poor to nonexistent. I would give this company less than 1 star if I could.

Huge let down in service

Huge let down in service
I purchased Builder's Risk insurance for a new build on my residential home. I told them I only needed it for 6 months and would pay month to month. They gave me a good rate and I signed up for it.
Well, once the paperwork was signed, everything changed.
Sales Mgr went silent and customer services team told me I had a commercial insurance not residential insurance. They told me that I cannot cancel and I am liable for paying full year in advanced.
I called customer services and explained the situation and they told me that there is nothing can be done.
So I am stuck with 1year insurance and my house will be done in 3 months, so, yes, I just blew away $700.
None of this was explained to me prior to signing. I never felt so misled and uninformed by an insurance company ever !
My advice,stay away from this company! They are only looking at making money and not letting customers know what they are getting up front. They lost a customer for life.

Unresolved Refund After Property Sale – Poor Follow-Up by Agent

I insured my building at 150 W Main Street, Newcomerstown, OH 43832 through Goosehead Insurance with agent Mikel Compston on July 26, 2024, for a premium of $3,277. After selling the building on March 18, 2025, I requested a refund for the unused portion of the policy. Although I was informed that a refund check had been sent, I have not received it to date. Despite several email exchanges, the issue remains unresolved. This has been a very unprofessional experience, and I am disappointed by the lack of follow-through from the agent.

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with this agency that I feel compelled to share. From the start, Matthew sold us the wrong insurance policies for our short-term rentals. They sold us one with Steadily, only for us to receive a notice of cancellation just a month later because, surprise, they don’t insure the type of properties we own!

To make matters worse, they sold us a policy for our primary residence from a company called Sagesure. We found out after we paid in full that Sagesure was going to require an in depth inspection of our entire home inside and out! This was not communicated upfront, and we felt pressured to pay in full immediately even though they weren’t set to start for 2 weeks.

We expressed our concerns to our broker about the inspections and the rush to pay, but our feedback fell on deaf ears. This entire process felt deceptive and quite unprofessional. We trusted this agency to guide us through an important decision, and instead, we were left confused and dissatisfied. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this agency if you value transparency and legitimate business practices!

The most rape in the insurance broker…

The most rape in the insurance broker .I would give them -10.please don't deal with them .if I write my very very bad experience I need to write pages .The one I deal with located in west lake,Texas.I am going to report them to Texas AG and the consumer protection agency.

Absolutely horrific customer service

Absolutely horrific customer service. My original Agent Justin Turner did not follow through on several activation/cancelation requests since July/August, and instead he told me to go call the parent company Bamboo. Had to talk to 2 reps at Bamboo to help me - one did with the CA Fair Plan after 1.5 hours on the phone with her. The first rep I spoke to knew nothing about the CA Fair Plan. Then they said they couldn't change their own supplemental homeowners insurance policy per my request - when I requested to lower coverages. I also requested a change of agent with Bamboo twice and they did not follow through with that request. A Goosehead supervisor then contacted me after I left two survey responses, and when I responded, he never follow up with me. Another Goosehead agent hung up on me when I asked to be transferred to the supervisor. I don't know how they stay in business.

Can't trust Goosehead Insurance

Goosehead Insurance - Luke Collins (Serving Arkansas, Oklahoma & Texas) - Extremely poor customer service. Moved here and actually signed up for auto and home policy using this agency. On several occasions, trying to reach our agent we were told they would get right back to us. But they never did. I always had to track them down. They also did not follow up on homeowners when the lender inquired about our insurance - on two consecutive occasions. Then when I finally cancelled with them, the actual insurance company was not notified of our cancellation. So we were going to be billed again. The agent's response? "Well if that happens let me know and I will help you fix it." Yeah, right! When I asked the agent about this I was lied to about it. Glad to be able to go back to a better company without a do-nothing agency. What a scam. I do not recommend this agency.
