Im going crazy
Twice now i've uploaded a recorded conversation and which works fine. The transcription itself is a bit off but i expected nothing less.
BUT now i've experienced TWICE using at least 1,5 - 2 hours correting the text, that when i copy the corrected text into another browser, the corrected text is not saved and then when i go back to copy again, the whole thing is back to the original. WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME

My girlfriend needed to do the initial transcription for a large number of interviews in Swedish for her Master thesis to save time. This worked well enough and was intuitive for her as a very nontechnical person to handle alone. Sadly we canceled subscription after 1 month (one time task) but will definitely consider to use again.
Cheap but slow
It is the cheapest software out there for transcribing audio and it does the job decently. However it is VERY slow. I enjoy that i can cancel the subscription anytime i dont need it. Its my second time subscribing for a project but due to the slow responce I might use another one next time.

Worst customer service ever! So slow response. There’s no chat nor phone to ring. Still not able to get into my account after two days. Really bad experience.
Unfair commercial practices
As a bona fide user of Good Tape’s service, I was surprised to find that my annual subscription had been renewed without any prior reminder. I only became aware of the renewal when the charge appeared on my bank statement. I contacted the company the same day to explain that I do not plan to conduct any fieldwork this year and, as a result, will not require the transcription service.
They declined my request for a refund, citing the terms of the agreement.
While I understand the importance of clear and consistent policies, the absence of a basic courtesy—such as a renewal reminder—and the refusal to consider a justified, same-day refund request strike me as unnecessarily rigid and ultimately unfair.
It is frustrating to witness subscription-based platforms prioritizing profit over people, and a strict adherence to policy over the actual needs of long-term customers.

Het begon zo goed, maar de tool is waardeloos geworden
Toen ik ruim een jaar geleden een abonnement op My Good Tape nam, werkte het geweldig. Het transcript was heel precies, het scheelde me veel tijd. Inmiddels holt de kwaliteit achteruit. De tool verdraait zinnen, laat stukken weg, soms mist er een half uur. Ik kaart het al een jaar aan bij het bedrijf, maar er wordt niets aan gedaan. Veel collega-journalisten zijn ook klaar met deze tool. Jammer, want het was zo goed!

Horrible transcription
Extremely poor transcription quality for Romanian. I spent an hour using the free trial, only to receive nonsensical, random text. This happened with three different audio files.

Very Very Very long waiting time
Hi I am a new user, and wanted to have a try on Good Tape. I want to ask if it is normal for me to wait for 8 hours for a trial? It have been stucked in the page of less than 3 minutes waiting time for 7hours or something. I don't even have a chance to see if the quality worth me to be a paid user.

Wat een tijdswinst
Wat een tijdswinst, deze transcriptie-app! Werkt goed en betrouwbaar. De weergave van de transcriptie is soms wat onhandig - splitsingen en nieuwe alinea's die worden aangemaakt in het midden van een zin - maar al bij al heel tevreden over. Herkenning van verschillende stemmen zou ietske beter kunnen, maar misschien is dat wel mogelijk met een duurdere optie dan ik heb?
Safety of informants is key: Transcribed interviews for a book
I had to transcribe 50+ interviews with sensitive personal information in two different languages, which I had conducted in research for a book that I am writing. I had originally taken a whole month off work, just to transcribe the interviews and start categorising the subject matter.
A friend recommended I try Good Tape - at first I was really sceptical, because I had a lot of personal information in the interviews, and several of my informants were nervous to even speak on a recorder. The chance of data being used to train an AI model, or somehow get leaked through a platform, meant that I had ruled out all the transcription software I usually use (just for english - no other good ones for my other language).
Once I looked into Good Tape I realized how protected my recordings/data would be - and I decided to give it a go. WOW! It worked pretty much flawlessly, in both languages, and incredibly quickly. I had all the interviews transcribed and filed away in a day. Spent the rest of the month actually writing the book.
Misleading Subscription System – Be Careful
I started using Goodtape Pro in March 2025. Honestly, the transcription quality is quiet good – better than other services I’ve tried. Clean interface, fast results, accurate even with accents. That’s why I trusted them enough to go Pro.
At first i went with the monthly plan. But then I clicked on a discounted annual plan just to try it. I canceled right after and switched back to the monthly plan, thinking nothing would be charged. There was no warning that payment would be taken immediately – yet €132 was charged from my account.
What’s worse is that my billing history showed I didn’t have to pay for the annual plan after canceling. Still, the €132 was taken, and support refused to refund it. They just said it’s stored as credits – but there’s no clear info on how or when that credit is used, and nothing in my account shows it.
Then I was charged again for the monthly plan. It makes no sense. I feel really confused and misled. I’ve contacted support again but haven’t received a clear response yet.
Update – May 2025:
It’s been two months. I’ve contacted them many times — no refund, no reply. They promised to return over €100 but did nothing. Now my account isn’t even Pro anymore. This is theft. Avoid this service at all costs.

Dårlig kundeservice og uetisk forretning
De sender ikke nogen som helst e-mail bekræftelse på abonnement - hverken en “dit abonnement fornyer snart”, eller noget så simpelt som en bekræftelse på fornyelse med faktura (jf. gældende lovgivning). Kundeservice er flabet og nægter at hjælpe. Det siger meget om virksomheden, at de hellere vil have en dårlig anmeldelse end at refundere 145 kr..

Ik betaalde voor deze diensten. Toen ik me wilde inloggen, was er sprake van een een bug. Ik logde me in met mijn gegevens maar kwam steeds op iemand anders zijn account terecht. Zeer vervelend.. De dienst waarvoor ik betaal werkte niet.
Toen dit probleem opgelost was, wilde ik de volgende dag verder gaan met mijn transcriptie die bijna af was. Echter waren opeens 50 minuten van mijn transcriptie die ik reeds aangepast had verloren.. Heel jammer voor een dienst waar je voor betaald. Zou niet mogen.

Rip off
First couple of attempts worked very well and since then it's a disaster. Hours to receive a very short script. Says "5 more min" but it never finishes and you never receive the transcript. Feel like they want you to sign up to their pro version and don't deliver.

Avoid yearly subscription
[Update: I have added one star back after receiving a refund because my ability to switch back to monthly subscription was a "mistake".]
Fell for a EUR99 yearly subscription offer a year earlier and got auto-renewed at regular rate without any sort of notification.
Upon discovering the issue I switched back to monthly subscription, and I was told my previously paid monies would be converted to "credits". But now I cannot see a trace of how many credits are left and how long will they remain valid. There is not even a line saying such credits exist.
And as always, there were no separate communication for all these changes.
At first they insisted it is always non-refundable. Later they offered a refund because I should be unable to switch my annual subscription back to monthly in the first place, saying it was a mistake. No explanation was given about the "credits" situation. They did concede the payment system was "confusing" to them. Not sure if that is in line with EU customer protection law but I can't rate any higher for a service provider that is still sorting its payment options out.
Overall quality of transcription has deteriorated throughout 2024. Words are omitted, which is understandable, but more strangely sometimes words were added to make a complete sentence. Adding to the mystery, when transcribing Cantonese I regularly got the phrase "梁國雄議員" replacing the actual remarks. You cannot rely solely on the transcript without manual checking for the sake of accuracy.
You'll want to use another product to cross-check the outcome. And since Cantonese is not that widely spoken when compared to English, the machine learning model continues to show its limits.
The mobile UI has also been not as user-friendly as it used to be. The billing records are a mess, designed to hide the options and keep you paying.
Good Tape is like in a definite Beta mode and while most new features are nice, in particular the audio playback and bulk upload, but perhaps more attention could go to refining the core product or providing more transparency on what's going on.

It transcribed and it was fast and that's all to be positive about. It happened multiple times that I ran through the whole document to ensure everything was correct, all for it not to save when being exported, so I had to do it all over again. This happened 4 out of the 5 times I used the service.
