Not read GH for long time, won't again

Not read GH for long time. Totally shocked at the changes, who the hell is this publication aim at? GH never pretended to be high brow, but it was a solid respected publication. Now, the magazine seems obsessed with celebrities, promoting over priced cosmetics and expensive holidays. As for the articles, dumbed down, puerile, vapid any of these adjectives cover most of what I encountered.

We went to Good Housekeeping Live

We went to Good Housekeeping Live. The event clearly detailed a goody bag, which we were lost excited for. The bag contained a drink, another snack anda bag of crisps. Deceptive and misleading. The tickets were £60. It was an awful event. A bunch of stalls selling stuff (the same stalls that are at The Spirit of Christmas Fair, which you can get free tickets. There was a Loreal stand but you had to pay to have yout make up done. I don’t understand what the £60 was for?

What a load of WOKE garbage!

What a load of WOKE garbage!
Another piece of big roll where the so-called “Editor” need to be sacked at the very least.
Don’t waste your money unless you are indeed low on big roll. It’s too expensive as well for that use…..

Hallelujah

Hallelujah! I am finally off Good Housekeeping's
mailing list. It took me nearly three months. Good luck to anyone else who is trying to achieve this.
You will be bumped between US and UK, and given various excuses. Hopefully, you will have an easier journey than I!

So Disappointing

I used to be a regular reader of Good Housekeeping but it's changed beyond all recognition. I found it dumbed down and sad to say, boring. Where are the in depth tests of various products? I'm not sure who the target audience is any more but it's certainly not me.

Inflexibility and greed

Inflexibility and greed
The new look of GH is at best confusing and at worst reader unfriendly The new look it is all over the pages with very little texts but a lots of pictures The first few pages is full of their own contributors self praise! I am finding my self ( after years of being a loyal reader) throwing the issue into the bin not long after arrived trought the letterbox Magazine is bland and insipid and upon trying yesterday to cancell my subscription and get the money back, one would think I asked fo

r £10,000. No you can not get the refund so I will keep getting the insipid magazine until March 26 and throwing it into the bin. Inflexibility and the avarice of the GH magazine is trully bad. No wander their ratings here is so low....BTW I had to wait 43 minutes for someone to answer the phone......
77% of 1*...NO SURPRISE

Still poor

Still poor. Expensive clothes cosmetics and holidays. September lots of pages on books , glass house extensions ( it is not a property magazine) and baby equipment ( aiming at young reader than average). Also weird recipes.
The name is Good Housekeeping - can we have sensible priced items, product and equipment reviews and makeovers.
Too many pages about GH VIP / Live which makes it Londoncentric as events in London. Odd pages near front about staff, strange to see. Had started to improve but September had gone downhill again.

Rip Off - Automatic Renewal $35

First off Good Housekeeping is not the same magazine it used to be. When we signed up over a year ago we expected more articles on health, short stories and practical advice.
Then on top of that our subscription was automatically renewed. We did not expect this. I just called and they said the $35 is NOT refundable. A real rip off.

A previously much loved magazine now spoilt

I’ve persevered with GH magazine since the changes to their editorial team and subsequent major changes to the magazine overall, but I’ve now thrown in the towel. Purely for context: I’m a 41 year old woman on a good salary. The writing style is now drastically different, the layout is bad, the recipes are mostly unappealing, there’s very little beauty/cosmetics, and the fashion suggestions unattractive and consistently overpriced. The strange thing is, I’d say the writing style is now aimed at younger women (older end of gen Z?), and yet the fashion and household items they include are generally far too expensive for that age group. Overall, I’d say they’ve lost sight of who their intended and actual audience is. It now takes me 15 mins to get through each copy, where it used to be a savoured read with nothing I wanted to skip.
Change is inevitable but GH have gotten it horribly wrong. I take no pleasure in these criticisms as I loved GH magazine before their misjudged overhaul.

Only meant for very wealthy readers now ?

I have had this magazine for years but the new layout is awful and muddled looking compared to what it was and seems to be changed and ruined just for the sake of it . I find this off putting . It is not such an engaging , easy read anymore .
I do not know who they think their audience is but their fashion pages especially are out of the world of most ordinary people .
You need to be very wealthy to be able to afford their choice of fashion with outfits costing hundreds of pounds ie £295 for a pair of of shoes £300 for the bag as only part of the outfit . Who pays £55 for a T shirt ?
I find this a bit demoralising in a way . Are they aware that this wealthy country is undergoing financial difficulties at the moment ? Are they in the real world?
I received the September issue today which is ridiculous . It is still July and am still in summer and do not want to wish it away with their Autumn fashions .
This is one thing , but most of the fashions I have seen in it and in previous issues so far ,may I dare say ,seem to be a little the ugly side ? Not that it would encourage me to buy them if they were affordable ,but perhaps it depends on personal taste .
The latest pictures appear to be using a very tall model , probably over 5 ft 10ish with trousers dangling onto the pavement .
When you are someone of 5 ft 5ins ( not petite ) you can forget about it all anyway !
I think the only part of the magazine left that has not been ruined is the cookery section and the puzzles .
I do not enjoy this magazine any more .

Disappointing new format

I am so upset and disappointed about the recent changes to Good Housekeeping magazine. I have sadly cancelled my subscription. Instead of the luxurious, glossy treat full of interesting and inspiring articles and photos it is now text-heavy, has a confusing and difficult-to-read layout, dumbed-down articles and reminds me of a newspaper supplement in terms of style and content.

So disappointed with the new edit.

Please Good Housekeeping, look at the reviews here and take on board what we are saying. I have been a loyal customer for as long as I can remember and now I’m not even tempted to buy it anymore. It seems like it’s turned into Cosmopolitan.
I understand a lot of work has gone into it and I do not wish to offend anyone but it really seems to have lost its charm. The layout is very similar to Cosmopolitan magazine, with big photos, not as much text to read and some of the print is tiny. Where has the double spread page of pretty new items gone that was always at the start of the magazine after the contents and letters? Most of the magazine I’ve just flicked through in a couple of minutes - I used to spend hours reading it before.

Why weren’t the readers consulted or asked if there was anything they’d like to see? It feels like a totally different magazine and isn’t one that I feel happy to buy anymore especially charging £6.99 for it a month. I used to look forward to it every month and now it just seems so generic with so many photos and little text. Where have the trusted columnists gone like Miranda? The writing is totally different like a brand new magazine.

I am just pleased to see that other readers feel the same seeing as the published ‘your letters’ are raving about it …

Disappointed by the change in style

Very disappointed with the new layout and dummed down articles, not a patch on what it was. It feels like they have got rid of all the original content writers and brought in an inexperienced bunch. It’s like a completely different magazine. Articles that are trying to be funny but are not. It is no longer a quality magazine, with intelligent & thought provoking articles, alongside great fashion & home style & advice; instead readers are treated like idiots. I was bored reading the articles, lamely written - such a shame & seems I am not the only person who feels let down. Not worth its hefty fee, no different to reading the free news feed on your phone !

I’m very relieved to see that I am not…

I’m very relieved to see that I am not the only one disappointed with the new look Good Housekeeping Magazine.
I’ve had a subscription for many years, originally given as a gift by my Mother, and have enjoyed reading the many and varied articles.
Now the magazine appears untidy, disordered and disorganised, with many rather depressing articles.
I rang to cancel my order with a heavy heart, only to be persuaded to have a further three months free as a long-standing customer, which takes us to September.
I had hoped that it might improve or that I would get used to the new format, but sadly not. I won’t be renewing my subscription.
