Purchased a 1967 Olds
Purchased a 1967 Olds, I'am 59 yrs old. I do not expect any salesperson to be a mechanic, that is not their profession. I purchased a comparatively lower priced car (by about 18K) due to model. The advertising was about the same as the higher priced models and no difference in video/pictures, both highlighted what was best about the vehicle. I didn't ask a lot of questions about the car because the salesperson can only go by what he has been given by owner or the person writing the report. So the car I received has a replacement engine and not the engine stated in advertising (figured as much from pics),brake drums bad (overturned if I hard braked, they would snap). So what I am saying is that I bought as is and that is what I get. One side note the salesperson never said the 1k deposit was non refundable, but I did look at some 300 reviews (former employees and customers) and already knew what to expect. And don't know about titles, but most states are 20 to 45 days by law.Vehicle consignments are a violation of Ohio State Law. Illinois, IAC Section 1020.50 Consignment Sales by Dealers and Sec. 5-104.3. Disclosure of rebuilt vehicle and 625 ILCS 5/3-113 Transfer to or from dealer. The last item - they have a customers low price and unless you are lower than that, they are not contacting the seller. Its a business, so don't ask the salesperson to be a mechanic/inspector, hire your own that's certified.(not uncle Bob).
All Lies...... "Buyer Beware Or You Be Sorry"
Dealt with Mike Wahlen at Gateway Classic Cars of Milwaukee. Told Mike upfront I was going through refinance. What I do to hold the car. Paid them a $1000.00 to hold the car. Filled out a purchase order on 8/14/2019. After refinancing.I contacted Mike to see what they offered for financing. Mike suggested using there financing. They wanted 18% and 10% down. Not happening. So I got cashiers check and sent it to Gateway Clasic Cars of Milwaukee for the full payment in Sept/25/2019. Had the vehicle transported to my house. Vehicle showed up. No tag and no title. Called and asked Mike where the tag and title was. My mistake. I will send it out. A few days later. What showed up an expired tag dated 9/27/2019 and no title. It is now 11/15/2019. After weeks of dealing with Carrie lying about where the title was. First it had a lien. Then it didn't. The original title was registered in Kanas and on and on. Finally Fed Ex shows up on 9/15/2019. Wrong information on the title. Sent it to back to gateway Classic cars of Milwaukee. I have asked many of times for the funds to be returned and come get the car. Same old answer. You will be getting the title soon. I have contacted the Milwaukee Attorney General, DOT Of Milwaukee, Virginia Attorney General, FTC and last resort an attorney if needed. This isn't the first time Gateway Classic Cars of Milwaukee has done this. Back in March of 2019. A gentleman named Mike C. Had the same issue with no title. There is also a lawsuit against them. Dot is investigating them again because of the title issues I have had with dealing with Gateway Classic Cars if Milwaukee and there business practices.
Beware
Beware, took our (2) 1969 Mach1's to Milwaukee, actual location is Kenosha. Was told that buyers would pay the premium, no cost to me after we paid $300 each car. After I saw our cars on line was floored by the asking price. Informed they mark up the Net to Owner (NTO) price 30%. Example if your NTO is $50,000 they price the car at $65,000. This is corporate policy, no local control. Our case we were trying to get most out of the cars. Cars were there 90 days without a nibble, picked them up. Elected not to renew for another 90 days. After 30% was added onto the NTO they could have been there 20 years and never sold.
gateway wants to discuss my…
gateway wants to discuss my dissatisfaction. why? its been sitting mths now and 4k later. they cannot help with time lost and money spent. I believe nothing can be done to help with my problem as I already paid mechanics to fix the engine, oil leak problems. I bought the car because it was advertised as having a 400 cu engine. In a phone conversation I asked them to confirm the motor size. The lady said yes, it IS a 400. well when the mechanic took out the engine he showed me the 350 marking! They said it was in fine condition. How could they not see the big oil puddle under the car. I believe any company worth their salt would call instead of sending a text. They have my phone number

i recently bought a car advertised as a…
i recently bought a car advertised as a 67 GTO from the Kansas City showroom. It has proven to be the worst car buying experience i have ever had in my life. the car did not have a pontiac GTO or even a legal vin # for kansas according to Kansas DMV. when i told them they could not prove that car was an actual GTO ,they swore they could get the court documents from when the title was changed after an off frame "restoration" (i found out later that was a salvage title, and i didnt find that out from Gateway either,) when they swore they could get the docunents to prove it was a GTO i bought the car ,which was stupid on my part, but he had me convinced that he could the documentation. seven and a half weeks after cashing my cashiers check i recieved the title weth out any documents to prove a GTO. there was , however 6 pages of hand written notes by the previous owner in which he clearly stated that he could not prove it was really a GTO. gateway has blocked my calls and e mails so i cant even talkto anybody. i have to tell you about nthe night they delivered the car 5 weeks after they cashed the check, the transport driver called me and said he would be in town at 1:00 am and i agreed to meet him aand he was there right on time. he said we'd have to push the car off because it wouldnt start. so we pushed it off the trailer and i noticed a garbage bag taqped over the pass, window that would not roll up. so i started to find my starter problem. the first thing i found was no interrior lights so i turned on the head lights there was one burned out but the rest came on , no dash lites, in back no tail lites, no licence plate light, i finally got it started, no radio lite nothing, the speaker switch froze as well as the power ant. so i drove it around the building and back next to my car and ndrove right on by, no brakes ,none so there sat my $30,000 car and i couldn't even drive it home,

First thing they ask is how much do you…
First thing they ask is how much do you want for your car. You would expect that they would take a couple thousand profit from selling the car but they get GREEDY and jack up the price by $11k. There was no way it would sell and it didn't. I took my car back after about 4 months. When I picked up my car and drove it home, I noticed that the license plate was not there. I was assured that it was in the trunk. It was not. Now they wont even call me back.
I was hired as a DJ
I was hired as a DJ. They defaulted on their contract and I am very turned off to their business practices as well as style of operation. The local Philadelphia office was helpful.

They have sold three classics for me over the last two years. I am very well satisfied. It took some time but that is understandable. They seem to take good care of the autos until they sell.

Never felt like a valued customer ...
I contacted Gateway about a car they had advertised that I wanted to buy my wife as a birthday present. After calling and calling the salesman over a three week period, I finally talked to another salesman, and after a few days of going back and forth on the price, I purchased the car. I was told what to expect after my bid was accepted, but that’s the last instruction I ever got. I had to call a couple times about the title, and finally was told it “was in the mail”. I made arrangements to have the car shipped, and the salesman told me to give him 24 hours notice and they would charge the battery, put air in the tires, etc. I also asked for pictures of the car being loaded. When the driver arrived the car was not ready. It wouldn’t start and had to be winched onto the flatbed. Never did get one picture. Other things happen, but this is a review, not a novel. The only good thing that happen was my communications with Morissa. She was polite, always delivered on what she said she was going to do.
Do not go here unless you want your car sitting for a long time
A 90 day contract turned into 110 days because they dont tell you they only start their contracts on the 1st and 15th of the month, doesnt really matter when you sign the contract. This information was not told to me when I dropped off the car on Oct 5. I ran into a financial hardship having the car there that long and was planning to pick up on 1/05, which was 90 days, only to be told I could not! They would not bend the rules for 10 days and of course they did not sell it in that last 10 days either. I finally was able to pick it up Jan 15. Read everything before signing. They did not sell my car in 110 days because they want too much money. Priced way above market. I kept coming down on what I would take, but when they want to take 20 plus percent, makes it difficult to sell.
And to rub salt in the wound, I just checked their website after picking up my car and my car is still listed for 4000 less, which is where it should’ve been all along. I emailed and asked why my car was still there and they said that is their policy until it sells. Huh? They don’t have the car. I do. Are they trying to make their website look better?
New Las Vegas location
Damon Bounds at Gateway Classics in Las Vegas was awesome. Great customer service, professional demeanor, and has been in contact with me throughout the whole process, answering all of my rookie questions. I’m a first time buyer and he made the whole experience very comfortable. Recommended a great carrier for me to get my car shipped back home. I would recommend to anyone purchasing a classic. Great experience in an otherwise stressful process. Thanks Damon!
Terrible experience after signing the contract. STAY AWAY!
I bought my car out of the Ft. Lauderdale showroom on December 5th 2008. Things went fine up to the point where I signed the contract. During negotiations I was told by the salesman Toby that the car had a car cover. I went thru them for financing and it took a week! I finally got the car delivered on December 18th. Remember I signed the paperwork on December 5th. I live in Atlanta, a 12 hour drive. When the car arrived, guess what? No car cover. No title either. When I called Toby on the 19th, I was assured that the title would be in the mail the next day and he would send me a car cover. A little time went by, forward to the day after Christmas. Still no title, no car cover. I called and was informed that Toby no longer worked there and that they would find out about the title. Later that day they called and said that they were waiting for the seller to bring in the title but it was taking extra time because of Christmas. I signed the paperwork 20 days before Christmas! Well, here it is, January 5th, a full month after signing the paperwork and still no title and no car cover. I have a car that I can't drive because I can't register it and a car payment coming due for a car that I don't technically don't own. I am a collector with 16 classic muscle and sports cars. This was the first time I purchased thru Gateway classic cars and it will be the last. Trust me, a car buying experience for a collector car should not be like this. STAY AWAY!!!!

This place has the cars!!!!!!
This place is only great because of the right people Ive been working with. I’d have to say I wouldn’t want to work with anyone but Joe due to the fact he knows his stuff, knows how to sell and quick at getting you out the door with money in your pocket. Great customer service and definitely someone the company needs to keep around. I am looking forward to further business with him and Gateway Classic Cars! 5 star rating for company and staff at the Orlando store!
Jonathan Cleveland did a very good job…
Jonathan Cleveland did a very good job of helping me get the car listed for sale with all the paperwork and he is a very friendly and knowledgeable young man. The sales team did an excellent job of taking pictures, doing the write up, and getting the car sold in 90 days. As with most any business today I would suggest asking a lot of good questions, doing research, and getting as much information as possible.

Horrible & Expensive experience. Buyer Beware!
Purchased a 1978 Ford Bronco from Gateway. Absolutely horrible experience. The truck was not as described. Upon delivery before the Bronco was even off loaded, I called the dealer for a refund. Of course it was “non-negotiable” and as is. Beware of this dealer. They flat out lied to me. It cost me another $21,000 to fix the misrepresented features, dents, scratches and undriveable vehicle. Look elsewhere. Have a mechanic look at car and definitely take for a drive. Don’t take a word from them as reliable.
Great experience
Great experience, the team was so helpful and made the process comfortable and quick. I'm very happy with my purchase and will send friends to them!
Corvette delivered to Europe = happy man.
I live in Europe and took the risk to buy without driving a classic car. Thanks to the guys at Gateway Classic Cars Chicago I felt empowered and I shipped a Corvette to Belgium.
They were super professional and helped me with all the questions. I would recommend them to all buyers, whether you are in US or abroad.
I'll be back for a mustang!
