Robert at Tarporley Gascoigne Halman tried to sell me a property at £1.3million that was only worth £900k.
After noticing worrying signs on a new build home that I had originally place a bid on, I had a rics chartered surveyor both snag, and value the property.
224 faults were found, with an estimate of upwards £170k to correct them. It was valued at £900k as it was, or £1.1m max if completed to a high standard. Almost every unit had damage to them, the showers leaked water on the ceilings, electrics did not work. There was even a huge fly infestation in the loft. The list was scary.
I could have moved in to a dangerous property if checks had not been carried out.
I immediately informed Robert, however days later he stated how excellent the build was. Seemingly without a care of how dangerous this could be.
I removed my offer, and the house was placed back on the market days later with false information, and more worryingly, not mentioning a thing about the condition of the property.
I just hope whoever looks at it next has a full survey conducted, and fingers crossed there are no more like the one I was about to buy on his books, or GH as a whole.

28 March - Robert has emailed me to insultingly suggest that because I gave an advanced payment of £20,000 to the vendor, due to him being unable to continue the build due to debts, and which he can not afford to pay back until the property sells, I can sell the snagging report via him to any would be buyers.

I have informed him it can and should be given to any one looking at the property. Also the valuation can be given on request providing the chartered surveyor agrees to this.

Anyone looking to purchase a property at around £1.3m in East Cheshire that may be next to a garden centre ask him for a copy. Both he and the builder has one.

My partner and I were first-time buyers and engaged with Gascoigne a few months ago.

I don't know if it was because we were first timers, or if it was just the influence of a poor seller, but we were gazumped and the total lack of professionalism and a pure run around followed. Their team there have left a bitter taste in my mouth and given me a poor view of them.

If you're first-time buyers I cannot recommend engaging with the Glossop branch at the very least least.

Buying with a nearby competitor we found the experience was far better, with more updates, better information, and an increased amount of respect.

We recently sold our property through Gascoigne Halman Macclesfield office and are now renting from them. We have been pleased with the professional service they offer, all the staff have been pleasant and helpful. Thanks to all the Team and special thanks to Adam and Lisa.

I cannot fault the excellent customer service received from Adam and the team at Heaton Moor branch. The sale of my property was marketed to a high standard in a friendly, helpful and professional manner, and achieved a quick sale.
Although my purchase of another property did not go ahead due to unforeseen circumstances I would have no hesitation in recommending Gascoine Halman in any future property transactions.

All was fine until we received a quit notice. They harassed us with emails asking when are you leaving? have you found a house? They even threatened to charge us double rent if we overstayed our due leave date. Disorganised and disoriented, all they care about is money. They will quickly collect your rent and deposit but take forever to refund it when you leave. I would rather remain homeless than stay in house managed by Gascoigne!

I have recently bought and sold a house with the Didsbury office and have been very pleased with their communication, efficiency and consideration in what proved to be quite a stressful experience due to other factors.
At all stages I was kept informed of developments and given all the relevant information I needed about the process. James Thornley and James Mosedale were so helpful throughout.

We recently sold and bought a house using the Frodsham office. We met with 3 local estate agents before deciding who to use and we chose Gascgoine Halman Frodsham as they had the most local knowledge and were the easiest branch to get in touch with.

As is often the case, the whole house move process was quite lengthy and frustrating. But Tracy in particular helped us out with advice, chasing up solicitors and helping to keep on top of the process.

I don’t plan on moving again anytime soon, but if I did I wouldn’t hesitate to use their services again.

We have recently finalised the sale of our house, and purchase of our next (of which the sale side was dealt with by Gascoingn Halman). We would like to particularly thank Dominic from the Sales office in Wilmslow for all his help during the process - he was absolutely the reason why everything ran smoothly and most importantly ran to time. Though we have bought a house previously, this was our first time buying and selling at the same time and Dominic was fantastic at guiding & advising us each step of the way and always on hand for our questions. Dominic was also particularly great with coordinating all the moving parts and knew who to call and when to get things moving, and seeming never hesitate to do so on our behalf, we are extremely grateful. We would thoroughly recommend and hope to use his services again! We would also thoroughly recommend Gascoign Halman Wilmslow too - though we primarily dealt with Dominic, all other colleagues at the Wilmslow office we spoke to during the process were extremely helpful.

Wished to make a cash offer on a property, was told viewings were fully booked and was not even offered to have a video viewing of it. If I were the seller I'd be appalled that potential buyers and potential achievement of a higher price were sent away.

To be fair to the Wilmslow office they did everything they said they would do. From an initial market appraisal through to completion the system worked excellently. Peter Higham took on our instruction and was spot on with his advice , James Poppock then ran our sale and was in touch throughout and was polite and efficient and upto speed throughout. The team were all aware with what was going on and and communication was excellent.
All sounds a bit cheesy ,but its true. Thank you .

Excellent process with Gascoignes, from initial meet with Markus, market appraisal right down to the wire.
Market knowledge and valuation was spot on. Photography clear, perfect contrast and house write up excellent and accurate. Brilliantly managed by Lucy Kershaw throughout with very timely comms and updates. We felt she managed potential buyers very well and helped maintain the integrity of the chain as it developed. Viewings all managed professionally and consistently too. Viewing requests started coming in within an hour or so of being released online. Offers started a few days after viewings and final offer just over a week later. Just excellent team all round! Thank you all.

We agreed to have a property viewing in Manchester today 10 Nov at 3PM.

I live in Bradford and went to the property by public transport, however I got to the property earlier at 2pm then I decided to give them a call for possibility of early viewing because there is no place to wait in this cold weather and the call went to a voice mail. I left a voice message requesting what would be their answer and I requested a callback, but I never heard any response from them, not until now,not even a phone call. Nothing!

I wasn't feeling well today but I still did go all the way from Bradford to the property. Now knowing that they don't even care to call me, I'm very disappointed with their service and how they treated today it's very unprofessional!!!

Gasgoigne Halman, in my opinion, are the creme de la creme of Estate Agents - particularly the WILMSLOW office. Selling my house was being done to enable me to move overseas which made it particularly important and intense as there was a house purchase taking place at the same time. James and his team really pulled out all the stops - even after two buyers they found defaulted and left us in the lurch! At one point I considered using one of the “We buy any house.com” companies - purely out of desperation to prevent the loss of the overseas property. But James and his brilliant team were not for giving up!! Not only did they find another buyer - they found a cash buyer who was in a hurry to complete the sale as soon as possible!
The care and service received from every member of this company was outstanding in every single aspect and I cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone looking for a company with absolute integrity, professionalism and personal attention. Over 10 years ago I had purchased my house through Gasgoignes and now - having experienced their sales expertise as well - for me - they are Simply the Best!!☺️
