I have dealt with Tom from Garton Global for the last few years and have always found the process very transparant and the rates for exchange the best on the market.

I would highly reccomend getting in touch with Tom and his team for any currency exchange.

BEWARE - DO NOT USE GARTON GLOBAL

BEWARE - DO NOT USE GARTON GLOBAL. THE STRESS IS NOT WORTH IT

See below a timeline of events that occurred when we attempted to book our first trade with Garton Global

The subject trade was booked on 19 December, and payment was attempted immediately via our bank. The transaction was automatically blocked by our bank due to suspected fraudulent activity. I personally spent approximately 50 minutes on the telephone with the bank seeking to resolve this, but they ultimately declined to release the payment. This decision was based on the fact that Garton Global is not FCA-registered and that our initial contact with them arose from a cold call.
Given these circumstances, and with the impending Christmas shutdown, we had no alternative but to execute the trade via our existing FX provider. We would note that we are unlikely to be the only client to have experienced this issue, and it is reasonable to suggest that such risks could have been anticipated and mitigated by Garton Global.

The trade confirmation stated that the balance was required by 16:30 on Friday 19 December. When no payment had been received, we would have expected to be contacted. No communication was received on that date or on Monday 22 December, which was our final working day prior to the Christmas break.

On Tuesday 23 December, I received a telephone call from Adam Fisher on my personal mobile number, which they should not have and for which no authority was given. At the time of the call, I explained the situation. Mr Fisher advised that alternative bank details were available; however, his tone during the conversation became unacceptably aggressive.

We had intended to conduct a new trade and make payment via the alternative bank account during this week’s pay run. However, we are unable to do so while we are being accused of owing £877.80 in circumstances where Garton Global has not provided satisfactory evidence of its legitimacy.

Garton Global have now sent a letter before action fraudulently accusing us of owing £877.80.

The utilise Currency Cloud for their trades so I am currently in talks with them, if we get no joy we will be going to the FCA

Excellent service

Excellent support, excellent service. My company have been using Garton Global for years and we would highly recommend them. We recently had a project in Norway and their ability and efficiency in supporting us paying our Norwegian supply chain made this process effortless.

Beware Persistent Cold Caller

They cold call repeatedly even after being told that their services are not of interest. If you Google the number some concerns are listed. Beware.

Update: they have contacted me disputing the review. The cold calls were to a TPS listed number and I have full call details. I have submitted a Subject Access Request to them and am making a complaint to the Telephone Preference Service. I have responded to their Managing Director and will update after his reply.

Hi Peter - thanks for taking your time to leave this review and I apologise if you have been unwantedly contacted by the sales team.

Telephone is often the most effective way for us to procure new business. The team are trained to search the number beforehand for if they are on Telephone Preference Service and are also instructed to respect people’s requests to not be contacted. If we have failed in this i wholeheartedly apologise.

As this is a public register I must point out for the record that your search on the phone number which you allude to in your review is generally used by those who have not used the service. It is often people, much like you, who have been contacted by the sales team. Clients who have used the service generally populate both Trustpilot and Google reviews, of which the experience is rated Excellent.

I have searched through our CRM for your name and I have been unable to find any record to contact you directly. I have also used Trustpilot to directly request more information about your issue, I hope to hear from you.

Thank-you for providing more information on your complaint.

We have provided a full response to your Subject Access Request in line with our legal obligations.

As stated in my initial response, I am truly sorry you have been contacted by one of the team. We have provided additional training to the team member in question as to the importance of checking the phone numbers on the TPS register. Your number has also been blocked from our system so you will never receive any calls from us again.

Below I outline two additional responses to your comments after our investigation:

1. You were not contacted on multiple occasions. You were contacted once, you told the rep you were not interested and you were never contacted again.

2. We did not dispute your review, we asked for more information as we could not find your name in any of our systems.

Again, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your feedback and providing us with the opportunity to improve.

Best currency tranfers ever

Our currency transactions with Garton Global Payments have been perfect. At all stages they are professional and answered all queries patiently and accurately.
The onboarding process was faultless and smooth; the payments the same. Notably: THEY ANSWER THE PHONE, unlike most banks. And when they answer they do what they are supposed to -which is transfer currency at very favourable rates (way better than the banks), and the rate is fixed beforehand, so no hidden or added charges.
Special mention to Niall Walsh and Tom Leslie for their personal attention at all times.
Over the years we have given the banks tens of thousands in currency deals, much of which could have been much reduced if we had used Garton's services sooner.
Some businesses deserve our business -this is one of those.
This is the longest review I've posted (mostly I don't post) but I'm in business over 50 years and integrity and excellence should be recognised.

Worked with Adam to change sterling to…

Worked with Adam to change sterling to euro. As this was a large sum and this is not my normal business I was nervous. Adam was extremely understanding, he was able to explain the process and advised on changing small amounts initally in order to gain confidence in the business and be able to plan ahead for certain rates. I would fully recoomend Garton to anyoine, and I have already done do to many friends.

First time

I was looking for a company I could talk to and deal with on a personal level as I am going to be buying currencies regularly for the next few years and I found it.
Tom was very helpful and informative and answered all my questions without hesitation and gave me information I could fact check to reassure me this would be genuine and straightforward. I intend using Garton regularly now that I am set up with them.
I like the personal touch you guys have.

Currency conversion & property purchase

Niall & Team have a friendly, yet professional approach. Niall is an excellent communicator & always provided full clear explanations. As a novice, as well as being fraught due to hideous experiences with my own Bank, I appreciated his patience and attentiveness through the entire process. This has been an empowering experience, plus I have saved a lot of money in the process due to Gorton’s more favourable exchange rates. I would strongly recommend anyone who is making a purchase, or transferring money involving currency exchange, to use Gorton’s service.
