We had a fantastic experience with Joel…
We had a fantastic experience with Joel at the reservoir! Even though it was a cold and rainy day, it was beyond enjoyable and full of great knowledge. We learned about so many edible plants in the area.
Joel came fully prepared with more than enough nibbles, tea and equipment for all of us to make use of. We couldn't have asked for a better guide or experience and I do hope we run into Joel in Sheffield again in the future!

A great 3 hour introduction to foraging.
A great 3 hour introduction to foraging. Jim was excellent - relaxed, professional and very informative. The session was topped off with a superb outdoor snack, cooked by our host, and containing the mushrooms we'd just gathered.
I hope to repeat the experience during another season next year.

Fantastic foraging day with Alex at The Fold with more than nibbles at the end - more like a gourmet tasting menu. So knowledgeable and engaging. Definitely the best experience to date in my foray into foraging.

Welcoming, engaging, facinating experience
Grace was very welcoming and very knowledgeable. We learned a lot and it was very useful to have an email follow up of all the plants identified. She managed to connect with each of us in the group and was open to all manner of questions about the plants and forest area. And then there was the surprise edible treat at the end which was fabulous! I won't say what and spoil the surprise, but what a treat!

Wonderful Forage & Nibble session with…
Wonderful Forage & Nibble session with Jim at Holker Hall. The variety of mushrooms we found was amazing and he was so knowledgable and interesting. We even had chance to "taste" a poisonous mushroom, under supervision of course. It was a truly immersive experience and at the end Jim cooked us up 3 different types of wild mushroom served on his home baked sourdough bread with homemade wild garlic pesto and damson ketchup topped with dried wire weed...delicious. Highly recommended, we will be going on further sessions and brilliant gift also.

Just had a fabulous day at Holker Hall foraging with Jim. He is knowledgeable and fun making this a great course for ‘would be’ foragers. We will definitely be signing up for another session very soon.BTW , Holker Hall is well worth a visit if you haven’t been .

Twice cancelled with virtually no notice
I bought my wife a couple of vouchers at Christmas. The first she tried to use was down in Folkestone, an hours drive. No one turned up. The first she knew was when I looked on the website and it said cancelled. Apparently “she should have got an email’, but no email was received. She’s taken tomorrow off work to go to one in Eltham only to be told at 4.55 tonight by email that it’s cancelled tomorrow. She’s livid.

I am aware that your wife is livid - I read the strong words she used in her direct email to us at the time. It's a shame you felt you needed to make it public too but here we are.
Our event listings do say quite clearly that the email address from both us and Eventbrite does need to be saved so it doesn't go to your junk folder. Unfortunately your wife was the only person in the group to not see the cancellation notice, so we know that the system we use does work as effectively as it possibly can (there isn't another way to communicate with our event guests) but sadly it seems this one slipped through the net.
The good news is that your vouchers have been reinstated so you will be able to use them again across any of our workshops right to the end of 2026. As the cancellation email said, we do also offer a gift from our online shop for those rescheduling, by way of compensation for any inconvenience. This olive branch is given at our own discretion (I tend to not have much time for people who lash out, are rude or send offensive messages) so I welcome you to reach out and I will get this sent out to you.
