I visited this clinic in Letterkenny to see what could be done about my plantar fasciitis. I paid 160 euro to learn that I have plantar fasciitis. They apparently do a gait analysis along with a scan of the foot, but I did not learn anything about my gait, and since I decided not to go with the insole supports, I actually got nothing from them in terms of advice, exercises or suggestions. When you visit, it is implicit that you will purchase the orthopaedic shoe inserts, for a total of 710 euros, which includes the initial 20 minute consultation. Since I did not go with the insoles which take five weeks to make, I found the whole thing a complete waste of time. I was not given suggestions of exercises to do; I was not told what my gait was. They asked me what my weight was (if this is so crucial, then why don't they weigh you?); I was asked what my shoe size was, but surely the scans were done so that they would have a complete picture of my foot. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing and costly consultations I have ever had. I would not expect to pay that price for a hospital consultant's time. This company simply wants to sell you shoe inserts, and if you don't go with this, then you will get nothing else from them, and will end up no further forward other than 160 euros lighter.
