Poor customer service blaming the customer
Booking and related administration were fine but the move itself was disastrous. Constant complaints from the removal men about moving every item of furniture and how it was all too wide and difficult and I was lucky they were staying on the job. Just what you need on a stressful moving day. Despite advance notification that they needed to disassemble and reassemble various pieces of furniture, they complained over each one, saying it would take too long (it didn't). Everything was a problem, with them constantly asking, "What should we do????", like I was the professional remover. Finally they failed to get a chest of drawers up the stairs, claimed they were on the phone to their manager to get advice for nearly an hour, before driving off without checking what they should do, leaving this item blocking a passage way. They also lost £250 of items en route, which I pointed out at the time, but just got a denial that this had happened.
I went through a lengthy complaints process with FMMAV, only to receive a snotty email a week later, stating it was my fault the items had gone missing, even though I had already asked the removers where they were at the new property when I'd noticed they were missing. They said they had no jurisdiction over the removers and I'd need to go through the small claims court to get compensation. Why bother with a complaints procedure if you ultimately don't have any intention of resolving anything? Really poor customer service. Purely cosmetic with no intention of resolution.
No doubt there'll be a quick, cosmetic response to this review to try to make it look as if they're taking action. They won't be.
ETA: the aggressive and inaccurate response to this review, missing out key facts and implying that my claims are unsubstantiated, tells you all you need to know about the poor and unprofessional level of customer service. The respondent appears more interested in blaming the customer for the situation and resulting complaint, rather than resolving anything. Not a good reflection on the company and just reinforces the original review about the low standard of customer service.
Avoid this company.

We are sorry that your move didn’t meet your expectations, rest assured that, following your email, we conducted a thorough investigation into your complaint.
We were presented with evidence that you had checked the van was empty at the end of the move, and that no items remained. It is not possible that items went missing on the journey as there were no stops. Your service provider also provided evidence that the move was completed without damage and that all items that were suitable for dismantling were dismantled. The only item that was not moved to the desired location was a chest of drawers which they stated was too bulky to safely move round a narrow doorway without damage to the walls and the item itself.
You expressed no concerns on the day to your movers about missing items, nor about any other aspect of the service.
We appreciate our investigation did not result in the resolution you were hoping for. We are satisfied that we addressed all your claims in our correspondence. As you were instructed, any insurance claim requires tangible evidence of loss, sadly you were not able to provide this.
Our complaints process resolves the majority of issues satisfactorily for our customers, as our 5 star rating shows. However we are required to consider the evidence supplied by both parties to protect our service providers from unsubstantiated claims.
