Really bad experience, i would give -1 star.
The staff (specially the person in the desk in the back of the shop had problem with another group before us and after wait a long time in the queue we also had bad experience, they started to make xenofobic jokes and being rude (same as they did with the last group).
The other group also told they were trying to sell the insurance twice and putting pressure.
We lost money (300 euros) - and they did not tried to help instead of give any option.
We finished renting the car in the car rental beside their shop with the ssme card that they rejected and it was really good, no deposit, no scam - i would advise cancel your booking with Ecorent in advance now or avoid book with them and rent in this other shop beside their shop on the day if you dont want problem.
It was on 2nd July around 21:20.

After this nightmare the travel was really good!

De lurar på dig extra försäkring genom att säga att du annars måste betala flera tusen för minsta repa. De säger att det är jättevanligt att få repor vid parkering etc

Experience extremely disappointing.

First of all, the vehicle we received was not the one we booked through the website. When we arrived to collect the car, we were given a much lower-category vehicle that was clearly worse than the one we had reserved. Instead of offering a suitable solution, staff repeatedly tried to convince us that the replacement vehicle was actually better, which was simply not true.

On top of that, I paid a €100 security deposit and purchased full insurance coverage. The vehicle was returned in perfect condition, with no damage or issues whatsoever.

I was told that the deposit would be refunded within one month. However, more than eight weeks have passed, and I still have not received my money back. I have contacted the company several times and, after some initial communication, they have stopped responding to my emails altogether.

I have also checked with my bank, which confirmed that no refund has been issued and that the money was not merely held as a temporary authorization.

Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to be very cautious when dealing with this company. Receiving a vehicle that was significantly worse than the one booked, having a €100 deposit withheld without explanation, and then being ignored when requesting assistance is completely unacceptable.

At this point, I am still waiting for the company to return my €100 deposit and provide a proper explanation

Location qui s’est passée sans encombre et de façon très simple. Le personnel est accueillant et très arrangeant. Ils nous ont trouvé une solution pour louer la voiture en prenant une assurance car nous n’avions pas de cartes de crédit mais des cartes de débit (les agences refusent dans 90% des cas de louer un véhicule dans ce cas mais nous ne le savions pas). Notre voyage aurait très mal débuté sans leur proposition et leur solution. Pour couronner le tout, notre fille avait oublié ses AirPods dans la voiture et s’en est rendu compte que dans l’avion! Nous avons tout de suite contacté l’agence et moins d’une semaine après nous les recevions dans notre boîte aux lettres. Leur honnêteté et leur dévouement témoignent de leur sérieux. Un grand merci à cette agence et tout le personnel.

Super équipe! Malgré un changement de batterie au milieu du voyage (ça arrive) ils ont fait le maximum pour que tous se passe bien. tout s'est passé facilement 👌prise en charge véhicule conforme et nickel et retour en 20mn nous laissant le temps de prendre notre avion retour tranquillement

Very helpful representative at the airport. The car provided was ideal for our purposes and every aspect of the car was jointly checked before we were given the key. We were advised which roads to avoid and we had no problems at all for the weeks hire. I will use them again.

These guys are scammers. When trying to pick up the car something went wrong with the creditcard reader and my card got blocked. (I used this card the 3weeks before in argentina without any issue) Ecorent only allowed me to pay with a different card/cash if we bought the over-expensive insurance package that we did not want (and need because we had insurance trough rentalcars.com). They promised to transfer the deposit back after 6weeks, we're 2 months later and i haven't seen the deposit yet. The car was old and damaged, also it was not possible to lock the car. (Which is not comfortable if you're travelling from place to place with all your luggage in your car). We asked them to repair the locks but after waiting for a reply for two days they gave an answer that didn't help.

In short; worst rental experience of my life after renting 100+ cars trough work. Stay away from this place.

We booked a budget-friendly SUV through Eco Rent at Tirana Airport, intending to explore Albania’s more remote areas. However, upon vehicle pickup, we were informed that driving on unpaved roads was strictly prohibited—something never mentioned during the booking process. These restrictions were enforced via GPS tracking and violations were penalized immediately, which severely limited our travel plans.

Even more frustrating was the promised refund for an unused service (“second driver”). Despite multiple written assurances, we have yet to receive any reimbursement.

Misleading advertising, lack of transparency, and poor customer service. We’re deeply disappointed and strongly advise against booking with Eco Rent.

Ecorent was a legitimate car rental company just outside Tirana airport. Booked this via rentals.com by bookings.com.

The offices were nice & the staff were very friendly & super helpful in relaying the information with regards to the car rental contract.

We were in and out within 30 minutes and received a clean car with a full tank of petrol.

There prices are very competitive, and the drop-off was made in Sarandë and was hassle free.
