Very easy and fast service
Very easy and fast service; however, my impression when I signed on was it was free to file but I ended up paying around $92 to file federal and state so I was confused at the cost. I guess I would rather pay for a good service than risk filing them with a truly free, but bad service.

I spent hours going down rabbit trails
I spent hours going down rabbit trails. Free cost quoted was 27 dollars. First attempt rejected by IRS. E-file said no worry correct at no additional cost. Finally got it accepted. But can not print a copy of return. Checked my credit card and noticed two separate charges, one for 27 and one for 40 dollars. Terrible experience won't be back, they sucker you in with false promises.

It appears that your first transmission was rejected because the information that you entered did not match IRS records and thus, to protect against fraud, the IRS required you to correct and retransmit it. There was no additional fee to correct and retransmit this return. We looked at your account and it appeared as though you manually added our amended tax return software and when you were correcting your return paid for this as well, this resulted in the second charge that you mentioned. Amended tax return software is used if you need to modify a tax return after it has already been accepted by the IRS. You do not need to amend your return if you are correcting and retransmitting a return that was initially rejected. I do apologize if you thought you had to amend your tax return in order to retransmit it. If you do not plan to use the amended return software, we can certainly refund you, simply contact our support team from within your account and let them know that you accidently purchased this. Support can also assist you with obtaining a copy of your tax return. I’m not sure exactly why you are having trouble downloading a copy but it does look like you are using outdated versions of the Windows and Firefox browsers so this could be causing the problem.

Absolutely loved using this especially since it’s free and easy to use. Makes it so much more simple than going somewhere else then paying. My only issue is the layout needs to be improved to be a bit more simple; however, this is isn’t that big of an issue.

I am sorry if you were confused by this. Now, we requested information from you to assist with disabling any account that you may have created with us, but since you have not responded my suggestion would be to submit a support ticket requesting your account be disabled and our support specialists will be happy to assist you with this.
Easy to use
Easy to use; I never thought I needed help to finish my own tax return. This was my first and a long way from my last! E-file is a great "Taxes for Dummies" guide that beginners can use to understand the whole process.

We very much liked the straightforward method of E-File and we had a great response anytime we needed to call in with a question. We were particularly impressed with E-File.com Support #01180-3493: this individual took the time to review our return and clarify what looked like any error in it and write a statement unless any confusion would occur to help us feel at ease. Our overall impression of E-File is that it is an excellent online place to file your taxes!

Free does not mean free
Free does not mean free. However, it is cheaper than other options, especially if you find coupon codes which seem to be common online. Also, they seem to be able to file online more easily than others which say they will but then make you print out your taxes and mail them in anyway. Not happy that I couldn't download a copy of me tax form immediately but hopefully within 12-24 hours? Probably a good service with those with SIMPLE tax forms.

Very easy to complete taxes using IRS e-File. They just gather the info and then decide on the correct form when you file. I chose this because I don't believe I should have to pay to pay my taxes or pay to get my refund. Very Excellent! Thank you to the IRS for FINALLY making this available to taxpayers.

Classic bait-and-switch
Classic bait-and-switch. Tried to do my taxes with 3 W-2s, no deductions/credits/etc. Tried to force a "Deluxe" upgrade before it would let me print or file, with absolutely ZERO warning before the very last step prior to filing, meaning you can either pay them or you've wasted your entire effort. Absolutely no reason/description given of what exactly was requiring the upgrade, just a vague "one of the services you have selected does not qualify for the free option".
I will literally do my taxes on paper and send them in the mail before I pay you. Get absolutely bent, e-file.

I am very sorry if you were not able to use our free basic software. It appears that your account was upgraded to our deluxe software so that you could take advantage of the retirement savings contribution credit which was calculated based on the figure you entered from box 12 of one of your W-2s. While there is a cost associated with our deluxe software ($27.99) the credit you would receive was greater than this cost. Now, if you would like to remove this credit and proceed with our basic free software please contact our support team using the "Help & Support" link inside your account and our support specialists will be happy to assist you further with this.
