Worth it; a Premium Product with High Quality Service.
Absolutely worth it. This is the good stuff.
Pros;
-Actually Healthy
-Palatable (I'd actually say delicious, but opinions vary)
-Customer service is RIDICULOUSLY good
Cons;
- 12 cans is $35.99 without a subscription
- Some dislike the taste
- Company has some growing pains sometimes.
I used to rarely drink soda because of the health drawbacks, but Olipop's high fiber and low sugar content piqued my attention. I liked the way their products taste, so I subscribed to have it delivered regularly.
Product Quality; overall good
Nutrition-
I'm not really an expert when it comes to nutrition and ingredient claim-checking, so I can only go off of what DrinkOlipop advertises and puts on the nutrition information. However, the "9 grams of fiber" claim is definitely true based off of how much less my stomach gets upset now.
Flavor;
While taste is subjective, I've generally found that all of their products are palatable at the very least. Some of them are better than others, though.
Their Lemon-Lime and Fruit punch are some of my favorites, and when Crisp Apple is in season then I'm certain to order that as well. It makes hitting the quota for free shipping pretty easy.
Their "Taste-alike" sodas (Cola, cherry cola, drgoodwin) don't taste exactly like their culounterparts. Truth told, some of them I had to really look for the flavor at first, but at this point either I've gotten accustomed to the flavor or they changed their recipe. I would highly recommend you start by trying out flavors by buying locally first, or getting a sampler pack if that's possible for you.
Shipping and Delivery; affordable and well packaged
Shipping is free after $50 (post discounts), or if you're a subscriber. If you're in Alaska or hawaii though, there's always a fee but you're probably used to it by now. I have never seen the price go up any higher by more than $5, so I don't even think of it that much. their pricing basically means that you'd obly have to pay about $4 for shipping if you only buy one box; Otherwise, it's free.
They package their products extremely well; Their boxes are custom made for the Trays/boxes that they sell them in, and they only ship one or two in a package; They'll send multiple boxes if you order more than two. Again, no upcharge in shipping when it comes to that because any order over $50 is shipped for free.
Vs Competitors; Pricier, but much better quality to show for it
As much as I don't want to steer people away from this company, I have to admit that some of their recipes aren't as good as their competitors. The ones I've mentioned above are still better in my opinion though. I haven't found any competitors with a comparable amount of fiber though. Also, I don't have any experience with any of their competitor's customer service, which is a point where they really shine.
Eco-Friendliness/Sustainability;
They are B-corporation certified.
They also have an option to pay a bit extra to offset the carbon used during shipping.
That's all I needed to know to trust that they're doing the right thing.
Growing Pains/Customer Service; Outstanding
The conpany is 5 years old. That's a baby in capitalism. They're gonna make mistakes every now and then, but they have handled them extremely well so far.
There have been 2 times when there have been issues in the past two years; The first was when they essentially ran out of all the flavors I was ordering, and the second when an order came *extremely* beat up.
The first I was clearly told about about well in advance; roughly a month away from when they ran out. They also sent me a code for 10% off of the next three subscription orders, which was pretty swell. They basically took care of an issue that would have bothered me a lot well before it happened.
The second was when I had resumed my subscription after a long period of being away; The packages sent weren't the usual boxes that are custom made for their product; They were far too large, and didn't have anywhere near enough packing material on the inside. Also, they put two trays per box but laid one upside down for some reason, and that caused them to rub plastic between metal surfaces, cutting the packaging open mid-transit.
Truth told, I was confused at first, and then just downright angry afterwards. I emailed them with pictures and cancelled my subscription within an hour. Two days later, they sent a response and refunded me. They also explained what had happened and promised that it wouldn't happen again.
I actually felt kind of bad about how I had worded that email after I read their response and saw the refund, which is partly why I'm here writing this review.
The bottom line is; The product may have a premium price tag, but it is premium in quality and backed by great service. I can't recommend it enough at this point.
