Terrible accommodation, can’t help but feel we’ve been scammed.
We recently stayed in the Sunset View house, and were incredibly disappointed both by our stay and by the response from Donnini Apartments. We will never book with them again, and would recommend against booking with them to others.
We originally booked to stay in Wellington View however were informed the week before our booking that that property was now unavailable due to requiring repairs and that we had been “upgraded”. We later found that the house we had been moved to had a cheaper nightly rate than the one we booked and paid for.
The house was in a state of disrepair and smelled heavily of urine, smoke, and occasionally cannabis. The worst culprits for this were one of the bedrooms and the sofa, resulting in us sitting on the floor in the living room. The carpets were stained in many places, a brutal combination with the smell, making the property feel unclean.
The downstairs bathroom had a yellowing, non-functional (not that we would have used it) bidet installed on the toilet. The ceiling was cracking, the sealant around the shower desperately needed redone, and the extractor fan was purely decorative.
The kitchen was more functional than the bathroom- a low bar it stumbled over. The fridge had one shelf and froze all of our food. The provided crockery featured broken rims, chipped plates, and unbelievable flat cutlery.
Our issues with the property were, as noted, extensive and we emailed Donnini Apartments to inform them, not seeking a refund or credit, just to inform. We were supplied with an AI generated apology. This is not customer service. This is not genuine or respectful. We replied, stating we were dissatisfied with the response and were offered a £60 credit to rebook, despite stating that we will not be booking with them again.
All in all, would recommend steering clear of this company. We don’t know the state of the other properties, but with this stunning example of customer service, it seems unlikely that if there was to be an issue you would get any help or even an apology.

Last minute stay when Oasis and Friv…
Last minute stay when Oasis and Friv festival on meant we had to travel to Ayr from Glasgow.
Paid a premium price, £550 for the sea breeze house for 1 night, for myself and for 2 colleagues. Arrived very late and tired only to find a dirty house completely uncleaned. Hairs, towels in bathrooms. Dirty linen and sand in beds. Looked like a family of 6 had stayed for a week. Numerous problems with this company but unfortunately I have to use them sometimes with many workers in Ayr. I complained and they offered me a 2 bedroom apartment the next night, explained there was 3 of us needing rooms. Three times requested compensation and they say offering me a smaller inadequate apartment the next day (£250 for a night) was compensation.
Terrible customer service and have literally just come off the phone after an hour with some incompetent staff trying to get my technicians in a property after waiting an hour outside and I was having dinner.
Shocking company. Get your house in order.

Unbelievable property furnished and…
Unbelievable property furnished and cleaned immaculately, nothing was too much hassle for the team and they made the process of booking simple and easy. Check in was easy and it was in an ideal location for a large family celebrating a 60th birthday with an easy walk into the town for food, shopping, plenty of parking good sized beds and access to the beach out your back gate. Would 100% recommend. A lovely team of staff available to answer the phones who went over and aboard to suit our requirements.

Perfect stay - just what was needed
I recently stayed with Donnini in one of their apartments in Ayr.
Communication from host was fantastic, before, during and after our stay, check-in was smooth, all digital and easy to follow.
The apartment was great, central location as well as beach front with beautiful views over to Arran.
Property was spotless and we had everything we needed for our stay.
Would definitely book again and highly recommend!

Great Experience
I called in to book a stay fairly short notice, and the team couldn't have been more helpful.
From the start, they were friendly, responsive and professional. They quickly found the perfect property for me and my friends, and it turned out to be ideal for our stay.
Communication was clear and quick, and they even provided a digital property guide with everything we needed to know - including simple check-in instructions which made arrival stress free.
The property was great and was very clean, and the location was second to none.
Would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

We booked an apartment in Ayr with view…
We booked an apartment in Ayr with view of water booking was all confirmed. It was cancelled a week before our stay 11th June
2025 . They tried to fob us off with another
apartment in town which was not comparable as all they had left .
They gave us no reason for cancellation
I am guessing got a longer booking .
We had arrangements that we couldn’t cancel so had to fork out for more expensive place through booking.com as
not much choice at this late stage .
They thought sorry was enough and refused to compensate in anyway . Just reminded me of term 4.1. So much for customer service and people can have no confidence in them

My family and I had a great trip...
My family and I had a great trip to Prestwick in 2025. As we were a big party, we stayed at two separate houses, The Alexander and Rothiemay House. Both of the properties were stunning. The quality of the finish was very high and both of them were absolutely immaculate in terms of cleaning standards. Really impressed with Donnini as they kept in touch with me throughout. I felt that they genuinely cared about us as guests which I don't get when I stay away with other companies. Looking forward to returning to the area later in the year!

DONT STAY HERE !!!!!!
We stayed at South Beach View Troon for 4 nights. This is a deluxe with Donnini. The house is lovely, en suite a bit cramped but hey ho. As normal with Donnini it is ver basic with supplies e.g. only 5 plates , 5 soup plates , no large bowels etc. etc. our big complaint is the garden. We knew it was small. If weather is nice and you want to sit in this garden forget it. It’s a disgrace. Weeds everywhere, table and chairs was thick with sawdust and filthy. Chairs are only suitable for children and are covered in rust. We reported this as was one of the nicest days of this year. Donnini finally responded and said sorry they couldn’t come out. We cleaned and brushed up but we were unable to use the chairs.Disgrace Donnini in a deluxe property. How much does it cost to get a decent set of outdoor furniture. On another note there is a loud whining noise within the property which displays itself day and night. Don’t stay here if you want a decent sleep or a glass of wine in the garden on a nice day. Lost faith in all Donnini properties

Our original booking in…Kilmarnock through booking.com
Our original booking in Kilmarnock (London gateNo 1) was cancelled on the day before we were due to arrive and they had moved us to another of their properties(No 73). The original apartment looked really nice but the one we were sent to was awful. It was not clean, ensuite door had a hole punched in it, skirting was dirty/mouldy, oven was disgusting, plates, cutlery, cups etc all dirty, blinds damaged, kitchen floor covering ripped/torn. We arrived late and could not contact Donnini at the time so we moved to a local hotel which luckily had rooms for us. On a positive note, on contacting Donnini the following morning they gave us a full refund, however, not something we should have to do...no confidence in using them again!!

Avoid!!

We had family travelling from down south so cancellation caused both inconvenience and expense to ourselves.
Had to request refund of fee twice before receiving back. Would never use again.

I booked an apt with these people and…
I booked an apt with these people and they cancelled my booking with no explanation, alternative accommodation or apology.
I suspect they got a better price.

Don't stay here!!!
We were on our way to apartment to be told had to relocate us due to a gas leak in original booking. We were 20 mins away, after getting married that day. We were travelling to another family wedding the following day and had to stay over in Kilmarnock.
Terrible apartments, not up to the standard advertised at all! Apartments nothing like the photos. Was so uncomfortable in there. Everything felt very unclean. Very shabby, old and work needing done and mouldy drinking glass in the apartment that I nearly drank from. When I complained the only solution they offered was a voucher of £50.00 off another expensive stay with them to show they could show me they could get it right the next time... Sorry not the way to do business! Bad Customer Service. No thank you. Will not be back.

Disliked · A mismatched bathroom suite, rusty radiator, mold on wall. No freezer facilities. Years of dust and fluff on light fittings. Filthy, dog hair/sand everywhere. Spilled drinks under couch. Sofa bed falling apart. Draughty patio doors. Broken furniture held together with sellotape?? Bad tile finish in Kitchen. Many of these issues being reported to them years ago?? We lost 3hrs of Saturday due to having to pack, move and unpack again. Moved to 57 Churchill tower which obviously hadn't even been checked if it was fit for habitation even though there was a Donnini member of staff in the vicinity when we arrived. It had a really strong smell of stale cigarette smoke. Tobacco/ash on furniture. Holes in wall held together with sellotape. Litter under beds, blood stained mattress. All soft furnishings in living room had marks & stains. Filthy windows, cobwebs. Remnants from past tenants in wardrobes, on kitchen cupboards and in hallway cupboard. Dirty grout in bathroom. Dirty/broken glasses. Sticky floors. Dirty, threadbare living room rug. Literally a burst couch in living room. Clanging parking garage door below reverberating right through the flat regularly. We were woken at 6am by it this morning! 11 emails and over 100 photos later and all we get are paltry excuses and offered £40 off our NEXT 'Luxury' Donnini stay by a nameless employee who kept banging on about Donini's high standards! Making a complaint to booking.com as this wasn't by any means a cheap break. This was supposed to be a treat for the last few days of bereavement leave so needless to say we will never book another Donnini managed property.
Don't book, not work £330 for 12 hours
11.30 pm looking for a room for the night and this was the only one available. Donnini apartments in ayr. Everything looked lovely but on closer inspection, there were little problems, like loose water taps and a noisy town centre (it was a Saturday so can be expected in a town centre). Now we get the price, I stayed from 11 pm on the 28th of May till 11 am the next morning on the 29th of May had to be out by 11 am, at a cost of £330. Complete rip-off. I will not be using them again, I would rather sleep on the beachfront in the car than book with these people again just out to rob you. All in all very bad weekend and even worse paying £330 for 11 hours
