Sam at DIY Handy Sam Services Ltd was very helpful and friendly but
1. his work wasn't upto the " user friendly "standard we expected. For instance, he could have put hinges to the lid of the box so that it could be opened more easily for inspection purposes instead of completely sealing the lid with screws. There were more examples which we highlighted to him when we did inspection tour of his finished work.
2. It was irksome to keep getting too many official emails about the status of his work. These emails are totally unnecessary and off putting in my view.
3. We were disappointed to receive complaint from the management of our block of flats because his workmen were doing cutting and sawing woodwork ( resulting in sawdust on ground) in the public area of our block instead if doing it in a more discreet area at the back.
4. His work finished much later than we were promised although it didn't matter in the event.

Thank you for your exaggerated Review of our previous works.
A, We had already anticipate this would be the nature of your views from the point of contact because of ;
1, The haggling down of prices in the event that we had to provide you with five(5) separate estimates for the same jobs, you also asked for individual estimates for each odd job “at its cheapest” and kept changing your mind about what you needed doing to the point where we refused further requests from you.
2, Though we kept in touch regardless of the 5 week long back and forth you only agreed as we were about to cancel working with you.
3, Respectfully, you are of a later senior age group and wanted us to carry out works on credit. “ You stated you previous builders worked by trust and didn’t require any deposits for any amount of work in your time”.
4, You did mentioned that you needed the quotes to compare with other builders but you ended up going through with us, we assumed they the other builders pulled out.
At that point, we had already known that you are a high risk customer that could be a negative impact.
B, To address your comments directly ;
1. You asked for us to create an accessible flue boxing with no initial specification about hinges, we did just that, created a boxing with screws and screw caps to access. After completion, your concern was that you didn’t want a gas engineer to have to use a screw gun/screw driver to access. “Your comments was we should use our mind more”.
2. You requested that we updated you every step throughout work progression including photos, video and telephone discussion about the footage which We did and to top that, we also added start, end and travel notification so you were in the full loop. Due to the nature of our experience with you, we are not baffled that you then think it was irksome.
3. It Was for you to wisely guide your builder knowing the gravity and rules of where your flat is located however there were no initial instructions until it was made an issue. You failed to mention we did promptly Clear out and adjust accordingly.
Regardless how extremely unfair/exaggerted your comments may be, You reached out to us specifically through trust pilot. Because of our good reputation.
We’ve done our best providing with the help you needed taking into consideration that you are an older senior and to not leave you to the cowboys. However still resulted in being more hassle than it was worth. At Least a 3-4 star review would have made more sense.

Awesome handyman
Sam and his team have been hugely useful for a range of jobs big and small around the house. They installed wood panelling in hallways, and painted along with the walls and ceiling, as well as tiled our porch. Also got Sam in for the pretty random job of removing a firmly wedged washing machine that wouldn’t budge from its recess! Would definitely be first port of call for help with those slightly bigger jobs around the house.

Great service
Great service. Arrived early. Built 3 x 2.5metre high flat pack bookshelves, mounted a 60 inch tv onto wall and installed floating shelves. Worked quickly and neatly. I will definitely use this service again.
