Cin7 as a project management tool
Cin7 has fundamentally changed how we run our business. While it is a powerful and complex in terms of inventory management and feeding in to our accounting software - as a project management tool it allows our project managers to easily see the status of all of their projects. There have been change management issues - but Cin7 support is very helpful.
Cin7Core has revolutionized our business and processes
We're a medium sized B2B wholesale business that has does importing and manufacturing, with some additional B2C e-commerce channels. We've just migrated over to Cin7Core, from previously using an old server-based, old-school version of MYOB AccountRight.
From our point of view, this change has been positive in numerous ways.
Firstly, to have a reliable, flexible cloud-based ERP system which provides accurate inventory control, and seamless integration solutions is a huge plus for our business.
We use e-commerce solutions like Shopify for B2C and shipping with ShipStation, making our workflow smoother and easier to process.
We spent a lot of time preparing our data prior to our migration, so things have been working optimally for us in this respect.
Regarding cost, we spent a lot of time researching and comparing different ERP's that might suit our size of business. We decided to choose Cin7Core, as it ticked more of the boxes on our "wish list", compared to others. Based on comparison at this level, we also found the cost for Cin7Core to be justifiable. However, this might be subjective depending on the size and type of business.
Also, when it comes to costs, when you consider the benefits of being able to streamline processes, native integrations for e-commerce and using Cin7Core's workflow automations; these have all proven to be time-saving features which have significantly reduced aspects of our admin workload.
Another example of this would be their integration with Pencil Pay, which has entirely removed a layer of bookkeeping admin, with automated reconciliation.
The Cin7Core B2B Portal for wholesale is functional and easy to maintain, because is it a direct, native extension. However, it's not as specialised and other third-party B2B solutions and does lack a few bells and whistles. But the relatively affordable add-on cost still makes it quite justifiable.
Although email support might be a delayed response (in some cases overnight, being in Australia) we have been able to find plenty of helpful support guides. literature and videos to assist us with our learning curve and implementation. We also used a consulting firm to help us, as required also.
The reporting aspect of Cin7Core is not optimal for our requirements and could probably benefit from some improvement by Cin7Core. Thus, we're exploring some external, third-party reporting options for this.
It's only early days for us using Cin7Core. But for our migration experience so far, things have been going better than expected. It's been a lot of work and a big learning curve, but it's already revolutionized many aspects of our business and we're happy with our decision to choose Cin7Core.
Doubled the price in 2023!!!
Doubled the price in 2023!!!
We were using DEAR inventory for 6-7 years. And whilst it wasnt the easiest it did have some integrations we were happy with. Reporting was always awful
But the stock management was helpful and synced to other programs eg online shop/ xero/ etc.
Late 2024 the price DOUBLED from $150pcm to $300US pcm plus $25 per integration. which is a lot every month for an Australian small business. I am not sure how they justify doubling their rates.
The support takes days to reply, is overseas for us, so replies come in overnight, so we cant resolve issues during the day, and it remains clunky and slow to use. Now seeking alternative. Over $7000 for this in Australia now.

Cin7 Bought DearSystems and jacked the price up by almost 3 times. From $1250 a year to over $3400 just for basic level.
Despite asking they have no option for a lite version. We can not justify that cost when only using only 10k out of 100k products usage and we don't need nor can we unselect all the features we don't and will never need. Basically if you are small company you are now excluded and we have been with DearSystems for 8 years. A corporate buyout and shakedown it seems.
Terrible Support!!!
Terrible Support!!!
I have been using the platform for one year now. The platform is pretty good, although some really basic features have not been thought through. I was sold on the fact that they had really good after-sales service, and sure you get to chat but the people on the other end don't know what they are doing and just answer questions with irrelevant information. The only way you get support is by paying $$$$ for a Cin 7 expert. The B2B Portal is really clunky and unadaptable.
CIN 7 you really need to offer Phone support and have staff that actually know what they are talking about.

Good but...I came from Inflow ERP to Dear and then Cin7 in April 23 and I had high expectations. In the most part its OK but likes to do things in a certain way. As a producer we run assemblies but if you want the traceability report you have to subscribe to the production module, not helpful. The nail in the coffin here is the Xero integration. I'm sure its great when it works but we have 1200 errors that we can't clear and growing daily. I have been on to support again and again and whilst helpful its not solving anything, the issue is generating days and days of work, come back Inflow! I've informed them that unless we get resolution by Christmas (23) I need to make plans to move to an alternative ready for the new financial year. As yet nothing, I'm happy to take my £1000 per month elsewhere, fed up, really fed up!....Update 14/12/23...Their support has stopped communicating and having sent an email a week later they come back to me arguing about a ticket number and which one was which. I've asked for the support heads contact details and of course nothing. If you are reading this CIN7 then you really need to hang your head in shame, Good product let down so badly by terrible support, as soon as I find a suitable alternative, bye bye Cin7
6 months and still not working
We are going on 4 months and we are still not fully connected. Searching for a replacement. Switched from Orderhive and was promised this was a better inventory management system. they didn't tell me it was primarily an accounting system like Quickbooks.
I've been ignored repeatedly and I'm not going to take it anymore. If they don't refund my money, I'll sue for the multiple breaches of contract. Worst experience I've ever had.
Stay away, stay far away.
Follow Up month 6. They still can't get it to work completely and offered me a partial refund after telling me my contract states no refunds under any circumstance. It's been a month since the refund was approved, but no money has been sent.
I have a useless system and have to go else where.
Bad experience getting worse.
Excessive price increases - not value for money
Excessive price increases and over complicated production module with badly written and difficult to understand help files.
Support never gets back to you and it takes ages to get anything rectified.
Addons are not invoiced pro rata for the date of starting so if you switch on another module 2 days before monthly billing you get charged twice.
Dear seem to always be doing un update during the week during UK working hours. Used to be OK but now really isn't worth it.
6 months later, I've lost years of life expectancy
We have been with Dear Inventory now Cin7 Core since February 2023. The system is actually a good system, it has most of the functions you'd want an advanced stock management system/ERP to have.
The problem is a lot of them don't QUITE work OR there is a workaround but it's convoluted. For that reason you rely on support a lot. And that's the BIG problem. The support "ecosystem" is riddled with issues:
- Half the time they hardly read your query properly so you have to re-iterate and repeat yourself several times to get them to understand what you mean.
- If you want a quick answer, Facebook chat is the best you can get, and is therefore far from ideal. And then again, read first problem above.
- If you email, depending on your time zone, you'll have 1 answer tomorrow, but invariably they don't understand so a back and forth ensues, at the rate of 1 answer a day if you're lucky. It can take weeks to get to resolution... if there's solution.
- Best you can do is book a video call with them but there are hardly any slot available quickly, most of the time it's a few working days away.
- The support culture is all wrong, they're spending more time sending you to the articles you've already read instead of trying to understand the problem you're trying to solve and telling you IF you can solve it and HOW.
- If they agree to raise your issues with the tech support, it takes several working days for them to get around it and whether they fixed it or not, they don't get back to you. Or they're saying it's your fault and you've done it wrong without explaining anything.
- If you want a feature or a tweak, it works on a weird semi-democratic system based on an old fashioned, badly designed forum where if others like your request you're more likely to see it being taken on. But there are dozens if not hundred of requests a day so no one ever has time to read through everyone's request... so it's down to pot luck.
So basically, it's good, it's far from perfect but it's ok value for money compared to other systems. But mostly, you're on your own to figure out the nooks and crannies of optimisation.
They are so many simple tweaks that could make this a really good system, suitable for many industries but they're crippled with a bad tech culture.
This is the WORST company ever!
This is the WORST company ever!! They stole our money and now we can not get anyone to respond. We have used them for a few years and they have gotten progressively worse each year. We tried to cancel two weeks after our latest annual plan started (which they increased without letting us know). Now they closed Orderhive due to so many complaints and "re-opened" under a new name Cin7 Core...don't fall for it! Their inventory management has so many bugs and ended up costing us more money in sales we had to refund due to their program not working properly in maintaining inventory. Stay Away!!
Cin7 Core | Efficient and Affordable
Cin7 Core has been easy and quick to implement. When compared to the implementation of legacy ERP/MRP, Core really is a cost-effective and efficient solution. The level of detail and automation is amazing and includes workflows and task creation based on specific triggers that can be configured. If Core is setup properly, it's difficult to see a better manufacturing solution for SMEs and even some larger enterprises.
Great Value Cloud ERP
Compared to other SaaS Cloud ERP solutions CIN7 Core is by far the most advanced, particularly when it comes to manufacturing and co-manufacturing set up which is commonly used by brands in my sector.
On line support and "How to" videos are excellent along with the new "Dear Academy" which is a fantastic environment to learn.
Great tool but poor support
Great tool, but the support system is not trained enough with proper knowledge of the system.
Knowledgeable staff members
Knowledgeable staff members. Would be better if can allocate longer consultation sessions.
Dear (Cin7 Core) is the best single-entity cloud ERP
Dear (Cin7 Core) is the best cloud ERP, the one I have by far the most success in implementing, with client retentions of many years (only ever had one client leave it, in ten years). There is an excellent API which allows before automations and integrations, allowing client to embed IP to be more efficient and provide added value to customers; the API is a standout. The out of the box functionality is very good, with flexible order fulfilment options and good performance. The advanced manufacturing module offers real CRP and MRP, for a cloud application it is very sophisticated. The biggest limitation is that it is single entity, like its peers.
Exceptional yet Problematic...
There are many things DEAR does exceptionally well, and there are many more that clearly weren't thought out, and were hacked together buy junior developers who don't understand the first thing about Inventory or ERP.
The worst part is having to argue with support staff to escalate to the senior Dev's or Product Managers in the hope they can see how problematic something is.
Once you finally get there, they are exceptional and usually fix it quite promptly. But getting past all the gate keepers is tedious and makes for a poor quality experience, and always leaves a sour taste.
Especially when Its happened over 10 times, each time resulting in them fixing their mistake.
All in All, I've tested many systems and DEAR still comes out the best for my needs and the price, but it could be so much more if they started listening to the experienced customers who actually know and understand (and have developed) Inventory and ERP Systems, and fixed the failures in their system before they start building new features.
And for the love of software, put some more dev time and effort into POS. Your POS System doesn't need much to shine, but a few small things and it would be exceptional.
Used Cin7 Core (DEAR) for 3 years, not worth it.
I've been using dear for my company for around 3 years now. It's incredibly clunky, and when things go wrong, you're pretty much on your own. The support is really low quality and difficult to navigate, with questions often time being not correctly answered.
Most importantly, is the plethora of 'experts' endorsed by DEAR, one of these experts didn't correctly understand our business needs and we spent a solid 1 year fixing all of the accounting nightmares that followed.
We're looking at changing systems now, the pro is that it is cheap, the cons however far out way the price. The labour you'll spending fixing everything up will cost way more than more expensive systems.
Great all in one Warehouse and Inventory Management Software
Easy to use software with native integrations to all major E-commerce platforms.
Super app.
