Bus was 20 minutes late, driver was impatient, driving off before you could sit down, I jad no problem with this but an old gentleman nearly hurt himself as a he fell backwards into the seats. On that... Mehr ansehen
Shambolic driving !
This morning, I have had an absolute nightmare using the 840 Leeds to Whitby service. The male driver clipped 3 kerbs, missed an awaiting passenger, started to pull away totally misjudging the speed of an HGV approaching us then, had to slam on. The driver was reckless to say the least. Swerving, taking bends far too fast. No consideration for the safety of his passengers. We changed drivers at Malton. A female driver. Started off all well and good. Then come the long straight roads. Maximum speed, far too fast for the extreme winding roads and the gradients. What is wrong with these drivers ? Why drive between 30 - 40 mph with sheep either side of the road. Not a chance of bringing such a vehicle to a safe emergency stop, at that ridiculous speed. My first port of call was Whitby train station. I've booked the train back to Leeds. Will happily lose the cost of the return Coastliner journey. Absolutely horrendous driving. I've been driving 38 years. Never have I experienced anything like that, ever. Booked via National Express, expected a coach, with a toilet. Only to be told its a double deck service bus......... no loo.

Do not use any off theses travel apps…
Do not use any off theses travel apps including go northwest or any other kind off app like this because I used the Transdev go app and spend £17 thinking I could use any bus in the greater Manchester area but it seems I can only use certain buses not one of these travel app covers the hole of greater Manchester and it wasn’t made clear about this when I purchased the online ticket very disappointed in this and I suppose I’ve just pissed £17 up the wall 😏
Pricing structure appalling
Pricing structure appalling. How can they charge £9 for a return ticket from Pickering to Malton which is about 8 miles each way ?
To add insult the bus didn't turn up with no update on the website or the so called live tracking app.
Won't be using again. If there's 2 of you it's as cheap to get a taxi.

ALWAYS late. Either have to get an almost hour earlier bus just to make sure i’m on time to go anywhere or be about 10/20 mins late by getting a bus that should get me there in time but 9/10 times the bus will be late.

Most Tuesdays the 7am bus from Copmanthorpe doesn't turn up. Iv phone the Malton office spoke to a Manager who wouldn't give his name. He blames Covid we are not stupid people don't go down with Covid on Tuesday only . All I can do is advise people not to use this bus to get to work otherwise you'll be on a warning.
Shocking Lack of Maintenance
Left stranded in Whitby because driver tells us his bus due to leave at 3pm bus has run out of adblue. This is an additive for all diesel engines (inc. my own) which you top up as needed when a warning light appears on the dash. If you don't top up (typically within 500 miles) the engine won't start.
We're told a mechanic has to come from York and could be 2 hrs!
I offer to pop round to Halfords and buy some (yes it's that easy) but no...
Two hrs later we come back to stop as suggested and the bus has gone! Eventually board last bus at 5.45.
Don't Transdev (who run these buses from their base in Fulford, York) check for levels of diesel, water, screenwash and adblue etc. each morning?
I've asked them this question via 6 emails, up to now, and guess what?
No reply.
Why did I even bother getting on this bus?
I went back on the coastliner bus from Scarborough to York at 17:41. Then at Malton bus station, I was told there isn't a driver for this service. I had to wait until 19:20. I didn't think it would be a nightmare as the bus that followed had lots of people already on. Then I went to another bus because I needed only to go to York. I have acrophobia (fear of heights) and Asperger's syndrome, meaning I have difficulty going up the stairs. This is the most stressful journey I ever had.

I purchased a Group Day tripper for a family day out to Scarborough from Leeds on the 843 getting there was pleasant. When we got to the bus stop (outside Scarborough train station) we arrived ten minutes before the bus back to Leeds was to arrive. It did NOT Turn up. At around 20:40 tried to call the number listed; no one answered I tried this twice to find out if there was another service to get us back to Leeds. Having check the timetable noticed there was one service from Mallton; so we thought we’d take a taxi and join the service there in case we could meet it there thinking that they’d cancelled from Scarborough (the 20:25). After my 11 year old son had complained that he was cold and there weren’t any taxi on the stand my husband said we’d been here an hour no bus. So we had to fork out £84 for single return back to Leeds, money that I’m out of pocket as I hadn’t planned to spend so much; this overspend has impacted my finances this month.
Coastlines responded to me via messenger only after I had contacted them. That was 2 weeks ago when they said they’d arrange to refund what we spent, asked fir a phone number and since then nothing.
What bus company in this day and age is not manned or doesn’t have customer services? The phone number is bogus as it’s a virgin mail box, no company name is mention it just rings and then rings off with a message that the mailbox is full. Shocking customer service. I would like a refund if our bus ticket, plus reimbursement for the money spent to get home by train. I’m deeply disappointed that Coastliners l, , a big national company does not have a professional customer service or live timetable.
I want to register a complaint but feel I’m being fobbed off with random messages on messenger from what I can only assume is from a virtual entity. I will not let this rest. I will complain to my MP because this has caused stress and hardship. My son complained that he was very cold all night (he couldn’t get warm) it spoilt a perfectly wonderful day out.
Hefty price for underwhelming service
If you’re like me and is stuck having to use the coastliner to get to work then I’d explain to your work that you’re likely to be late every day. 4 days this week it’s been late. 15 minutes, 20, 10 and today the service didn’t set off at all.
The customer service on Twitter, they act all polite and concerned in public then through private messages they act like they don’t know who you are.
How are you supposed to justify paying a hefty price for a weekly ticket when they can’t even off you the service you require?
Unreliable serivices
I get on at the buckles inn off the A64 for the Earlier services. I have been getting the bus for 3 weeks now and on 4 occasions the drivers have both seen and driven past me or the service just hasn’t shown up which has caused me to be late for work.

Could coastliner please send me an up to date timetable for their buses.

I paid £15 for a day return from Bridlington to York for a job interview earlier in April 2017. I have made a complaint to Coastliner about their misinformation which has left me financially short and the rudeness of a driver to me compared to how he was treating other passengers on my day of travel which was a weekday, not a weekend or bank holiday. My complaint about them is because of 3 things on my travelling day.1. I asked the bus driver upon boarding at Bridlington if there was a cheaper option like a day ticket but I was told Coastliner don't do them.Are they sure? 2.The bus driver who was already on the 2nd bus when I changed at Malton after I smiled politely and showed him my ticket replied with "OK sit down!" in a rude and abrupt tone but he was saying "Thank you" to all other passengers then.3.Then at York Station at about 3pm I was told by the driver on the 843 that there were no more buses back to Bridlington that day and that the last one had gone at 2:45 pm. I couldn't believe it! I ended up paying to stay in York and I feel very dissatisfied. When I complain I do give companies time to respond. I have made a complaint on the Transdev website of which Coastliner is a subsidiary and by email with no acknowledgement of my complaint at all so far.
