Adam the sweet shop guy needs a raise because he is so helpful and nice and made my experience so much better and he helped my friend find his card and made sure we got out the theme park safely.

Staff were all very pleasant

Staff were all very pleasant, especially the hotel staff
As we attended on a school day there were no wait for any of the rides. I would not however ever attend on a weekend or school holiday

The downsides are for the money you pay the whole theme park is worn down and dirty. The boats on the gruffolo rides are actually full of mould. I'm sure for the money they make they could arrange a full clean of the park

The hotel was lovely although the restaurant food was very average and not worth the price
Would also recommend taking ear plugs as the seagulls are loud from 3am and eye patches because the smoke alarm above the bed flashes red every 10 seconds

We stayed for 2 nights

We stayed for 2 nights, it was very expensive in the resterants in the evening but the buffet was delicious, very good selection of various foods and puddings.
We had breakfast included which was also a very lovely spread with a lot of
choice.
I Was impressed at how diverse all the staff were, we come across a few with disabilities who were very helpful and good at their jobs.
The rides could do with a bit of a makeover as they all look very old and some did break down whilst we were there but they were quick to get them back up and running again.
Loved the fact you get early access to some rides before it's open to the public but a lot of the rides were for more younger children, so it would have been better if all the big rides that have big queues times at peak time could have been open for early access as well.

A shocking experience of humanity

The park itself was an average experience nothing out of this world . The hotel however was shocking really communication from start to finish was appalling the website and booking info is none existent. One member of staff tells you one thing another something else and on that note staff are polite to guests but vile to each other and it shows none of them look happy theirs a obvious divide its a multicultural workplace which I salute but its very clear and i try to put this diplomatically but the men speak down to the women and the team leaders speak very rudely to their subordinates.
One thing that narked me was this place was a real cash cow exploiting you for every penny when your kids want want want their on that to get your money in the restaurant we asked to have chees on the kids burger and the burger sauce from the adult meal we were charged for the slice of cheese and the sauce was impossible to do according to our waiter manikanta m who i will name out as being rude to his colleagues .
Also the vegan / vegetarian options at breakfast were poor unless ur happy to have a low budget fry up ull be stuck for breakfast

Slightly mixed review but mostly…

Slightly mixed review but mostly terribl, upon arrival was greeted by the most pleasant helpful staff and security after you enter the staff are shocking ! My daughter has neuro diverse needs, literally about half an hour before entering the park my luck my phone falls face flat on the floor screen completely broken , explained to staff I cannot access my ride access app even showed them my screen . Every staff member very understanding apart from these two jobs worths Zak on flying dumbos ( have a word) and his manager Jamie they both look about 18 know nothing about life clearly no empathy nor consideration. Told me to go to guest services to get a temporary pass causing me to lose about 45 mins of my day and my daughter was so distressed. I’m fuming and will be escalating higher. Ridiculous service honestly

Awful experience

Complete loss of dignity at Chessington, I cannot believe I even have to write this review. A staff member unlocked and opened the toilet door when I was using the facilities!! The door rattled, I shouted I'm in here, and there goes the lock mechanism and the door opens. I was MORTIFIED!! Why would you be trying to open this if its locked!?! Other than this the lines for everything were ridiculous, and broken down half the time. The food and drinks were massively overpriced but you expect that at these places. The coffee shop proudly serving costa doesn't take costa cards, bit disappointing but the staff member was very apologetic about this and friendly. My first time to a big theme park and I won't be returning.

Wheelchair Users read this before visiting

What an incredibly horrible day!!!
I am Paraplegic wheelchair user. Today I visited Chessington World of Adventures (CWOA) and regret my decision to do so. Almost all of the rides I wanted to experience were not accessible, often with a notice that the ride is not suitable for non ambulant customers. The one ride that was accessible had a broken stair lift that prevented my access.

I made a complaint to customer services who advised that information on access is detailed on their website and that it is the responsibility of the customer to check this before purchasing the ticket. The reply to my complaint was nothing but short of a text book answer! At one point, the customer services manager used an analogy stating that customers who have a food allergy are required to check the ingredients before purchasing the food... FFS! I advised the manager that it was not a suitable example under the circumstances... for obvious reasons, not withstanding that a user could bring their own food but I can't bring my own ride!

I asked for a refund only to be advised that this has to be requested via a different department of CWOA.

The experience not only upset me but my family too, including two children who were excited about experiencing the day with me.

I have discovered that other disabled people who had simar experience to me, havetaken litigation action against CWOA. I too will consider taking similar steps.

In an era where humanity is planning a manned flight to Mars, CWOA remains inaccessible!!!

No provision for autistic guest

Despite pleading with them to understand that not all disabilities are visible I just ended up be forced into buying ride fast pass tickets for a visit next month, as they had ‘run out’ of passes for disabled people. The ride access pass tickets etc had to be book separately to the hotel stay so there is no package book able in advance and therefore if one element runs out you get stuck having booked the others. We have hotels etc booked as part of a special birthday experience with park entry on his birthday itself.

I can get the accommodation he needs by paying for it.
Relunctantly , I feel blackmailed , I can not destroy the childs experience and he won’t understand and would be highly distressed so today I paid the money.

Chessington did offer with no compassion for the guest or family to allow us to cancel and rebook hotels stays swimming and park and rebook for some date in the future, but it is his birthday, a promise has been made, he talks about it every day, and if you want to distress an autistic kid more then start messing them about. Chessington you simply do not get it , not all disability is visible , and each disability type needs to be treated fairly and with thought and compassion.

This could so easily have been fixed with the smallest amount of individual consideration, but you simply are not set up to cater for hidden disability needs, the ride pass scheme is simply a quota exercise not based on need of the individual, every disabled guest is treated the same and it is clear aimed at guests with accessibility issues. Each disabled individual is different and need to be treated so with dignity and understanding not lumped into some general quota system designed to protect park revenue

My whole extended family is aware and this may well be our last visit

Won't go again and I hadn't been for 20 years

My honest review of Chessington World of Adventures from todays trip maybe harsh but this is how i found it. I haven't been here since I was a teenager which is over 20 years ago so

I haven't been here since I was a teenager which is over 20 years ago so thought why not take my 6 year old daughter to see how she finds it. Firstly charging adult price is a bit much along with the parking charge was already £100 plus and haven't even got in the door. Firstly turn up and asked the staff who was in the car park is it ok to park anywhere as a wasn't sure the rules unfortunately he seemed completely clueless and asked me if I was wanting to leave I said no I just arrived and started to mumble saying he wasn't sure where to park. Ok then we also found signage very badly done couldn't find toilets and again asked a lady in the park near the food outlets she had no clue about facilities said she only knew about the toilets near the entrance I mean there is something seriously lacking with your training if staff have no idea what is where in the park. Next we see you can buy refillable cups for soda for £18 I mean your really trying to push people here along with £14 for a miserable hotdog. My daughter wanted facepaint which you would of thought ok maybe maximum of £5 oh no again £13. We wanted icecream but found that if you wanted to have two scoops in two different paper cups they wanted £7 instead of £4.25 however my daughter didn't want hers mixed with her mums ice cream and the assistant wasn't able to put two scoops in two separate containers I mean this is madness. The thing I don't understand is your park is based on return customers and word of mouth I just don't see how senior management thinks your park is somewhere you want to come back to when your clearly screwing every customer who turns up. Seeing as it's been 20 plus years since I went there is still the vampire ride which must be nearly 30 years old. All in all I can't recommend unless you enjoy loosing money for very poor quality and service.

Rides are poorly maintained

Rides are poorly maintained and kept breaking down during our trip. 4 of the rides we went on broke down while we were on them spoiling our day and upsetting the children. Having spoken to others since our trip this is a common occurance at this park and we wont be coming back. Much prefer legoland

I think making disabled people wait 1hr for fast track rides before it can be used again is really bad it’s a disabled fast track ride pass for a reason and even though it was ok I think making disabled people wait 1hr is not on and we pay for tickets to get into the park to 😡

Overpriced so won’t be returning

I’ve just come onto this site to write a review and it seems most of the reviewers are saying very similar to my thoughts.
Way too expensive to eat there - £20 for 4 small ice creams , £12.50 for a pint of beer and ridiculous prices in the restaurants.
This totally spoilt the weekend there although the children loved the animal experiences.

An unhappy and expensive day out.

We arrived at 10.00am but nothing was open until 11.00am. We queued for just over the hour to see Gruffalo. It was very hot and ALL the children were getting agitated as it was taking so long. We were only in there for a few minutes. A waste of time.

My daughter in law bought 4 coffees at the cost of £20. That is absolutely disgusting.

None of the booths were open for drinks, snacks or food so you had to keep going back to one coffee bar.

We are pensioners and it cost us £70, including parking. That is a total rip off. Obviously we didn't go on any of the rides and when we wanted to see the safari animals, there was an extra cost of £3.50. Disgusting.

Despite the staff being friendly on the day …

The staff on the day were friendly and helpful. They tried to compensate for the failure of Customer services to help with the pass necessary to avoid queueing for a child with special needs. I left multiple messages and was promised several times someone would phone back but no call back. Emails I sent were just responded to with a message referring me to T&Cs. Easy to get the impression that once you've paid for tickets, they're not interested in providing a service for a child with autism, this made the day difficult for us all.
Very poor responses from Customer services.

Boring, unclean, dated

It's generally a 30 minute wait for a 2 minute ride. They don't clean the place, it's the same old rides with seemingly no updates/upgrades for the last 10 years. Barely any animals at the zoo, all we could see was one fox and two small gorillas who appeared for 30 seconds. Won't be going again.

Aztec Temple restaurant – avoid at all costs - poor service, poor food, and no accountability

This is about an incredibly disappointing experience my family and I had at the Aztec Temple Restaurant at Chessington Aztec Hotel on the evening of 11th April.
When we arrived, there was no staff at the check-in kiosk. After several minutes of waiting and searching, we finally found someone to check us in. Despite the chaos, we were asked to pay approx. £100 UPFRONT, even before being seated. Just minutes later after being seated, we were told by a staff member that the restaurant was closing - despite having just been seated and having paid full price. There had been no prior warning at the time of payment that the buffet would close imminently.

The food options were limited and poor. The starters included just two options: a Thai-style poppadum and a bland savory pastry. The salad bar featured limp vegetables and stale beans - certainly not worthy of the price that seemed extortionate. It was clear the buffet had already begun winding down before we even arrived, yet we were still charged full price.

When we raised the issue, the manager assured us we could take our time and that the restaurant would stay open for us to finish. However, just minutes later, another staff member contradicted this, reminding us again the restaurant was closing. This back-and-forth left us feeling rushed, nagged, and incredibly uncomfortable. To make matters worse, both I and my child experienced digestive discomfort and acidity later that evening - undoubtedly caused by being rushed into eating substandard food under pressure.

What should have been a relaxed family meal turned into a stressful, overpriced, and physically uncomfortable experience. I formally escalated the complaint the next morning (12th April), while still at the resort, but no one from the team contacted us during the remainder of our stay.

The response we later received was dismissive - suggesting the matter could only be handled at the time, despite us raising it in real time. We have been offered a 20% discount for a future visit which is both inadequate and impractical, as we clearly mentioned that we have no intention of returning.

We feel misled, let down, and ignored. Guests deserve better communication, respect, and value for their money.

Absolutely appalling customer service

Absolutely appalling customer service, stayed in the on site resort hotel, made a genuine complaint and just got robbed off with a cut and paste reply

Merlin should not be allowed that monopoly on all these theme parks, as consumers we need a choice

Downloaded menu

Downloaded the menu for the Zafari restaurant, as we were staying st the hotel, but it's not up to date. Prices are completely different to those advertised. Duty restaurant manager Sarah, was rude and unhelpful, and even when shown the on line menu refused to acknowledge it and said she need to download herself as it must be something we were doing wrong. Its Very very expensive,. Tv in room didn't work properly and had to call reception for someone to come and fix it. A lot of money for this stay and absolutely not worth it. Don't believe the current prices on website. What was a lovely day in the park became a real disappointment in the hotel. Won't be recommending.
