Poor customer service…
I had a very bad customer service experience. Following an error on my part in inputting my telephone number when I placed an order online, there was a delay in receiving the items I ordered. Once this error was discovered, it was clear from the words and tone of the representative that he blamed me for the delay. He insisted he had proof of calling the wrong number and attempting a delivery at the specified location. I asked why no attempt was made to email me when they could not reach me via the telephone number provided. I also found it difficult to believe that there was an attempt to make a delivery on the stated date, as there would have been someone to receive the delivery, so I disputed this and asked for the proof he claimed to have. Ultimately, no proof was provided and he rudely told me that I could choose to believe him or not! He insisted that someone had come to the delivery location, insisted he knew the delivery location and that he had delivered items to ME before. This was my first (and last) order. He did a very poor job of listening to me during this "conversation" as was evidenced by his attempt to deliver the product himself the following day. He went straight to the place he claimed to know as the delivery location only to learn that he was wrong. He was in Dzorwulu when the delivery location was in East Legon. If he had simply listened to me the day before, he would have heard me say the delivery location was in East Legon! If he had called before setting off, maybe this could have been avoided.
Instead of shifting ALL blame to me for wrongly inputting my number, Chale Socks can consider how to avoid similar occurrences. For example, utilising other modes of communication provided like email when unable to reach a customer and updating your website to include fail safe mechanisms - you can require users to enter their telephone numbers and email address twice, to ensure that the data entered is identical in both fields.
Admittedly, I did receive an email the day after receiving the items apologising for the circumstances surrounding the delivery of my order - but the impression had already been formed. I am also certain that I only received an apology because he was wrong about the delivery location.
I wonder what would have happened if I had not called to follow up on my order, would I have been contacted via email, would I have received a refund?
